WARNING!
•Whentemperaturesarebelowthefreezingpoint,electrolyteinadischargedbattery
may freeze. Do not attempt jump-starting because the battery could rupture or
explode and cause personal injury. Battery temperature must be brought above
freezing point before attempting a jump-start.
•Takecaretoavoidtheradiatorcoolingfanwheneverthehoodisraised.Itcanstart
anytime the ignition switch is on. You can be injured by moving fan blades.
•Removeanymetaljewelry,suchaswatchbandsorbracelets,thatmightmakean
inadvertent electrical contact. You could be severely injured.
•Batteriescontainsulfuricacidthatcanburnyourskinoreyesandgenerate
hydrogen gas which is flammable and explosive. Keep open flames or sparks away
from the battery.
•Donotallowvehiclestotoucheachotherasthiscouldestablishaground
connection and personal injury could result.
•Failuretofollowthisprocedurecouldresultinpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage
due to battery explosion.
•Donotconnectthecabletothenegativepost(-)of the discharged battery. The
resulting electrical spark could cause the battery to explode and could result in
personal injury.

If you must use the accessories (wipers, defrosters, etc.) while being towed, the ignition
must be in the ON/RUN position, not the ACC position.
CAUTION!
•Donotuseslingtypeequipmentwhentowing.Vehicledamagemayoccur.
•Whensecuringthevehicletoaflatbedtruck,donotattachtofrontorrear
suspension components. Damage to your vehicle may occur from improper towing.
•Themanufacturerdoesnotrecommendtowingthisvehicleusingatowdolly.
Vehicle damage may occur.
Automatic Transmission
The manufacturer recommends towing your vehicle with all four wheels OFF the ground
using a flatbed.
If flatbed equipment is not available, and the transmission is operable, the vehicle may be
flat towed (with all four wheels on the ground) under the following conditions:
•ThetransmissionmustbeinNEUTRAL.
•Thetowingdistancemustnotexceed30miles(48km).
•Thetowingspeedmustnotexceed30mph(48km/h).
If the transmission is not operable, or the vehicle must be towed faster than 30 mph (48
km/h) or farther than 30 miles (48 km), then the only acceptable method of towing is with
a flatbed truck.
CAUTION!
To w i n g t h i s v e h i c l e i n v i o l a t i o n o f t h e a b o v e r e q u i r e m e n t s c a n c a u s e s e v e r e t r a n s m i s -
sion damage. Damage from improper towing is not covered under the New Vehicle
Limited Warranty.
If the key fob is unavailable, or the vehicle's battery is discharged, refer to “Manual Park
Release” in this section for instructions on shifting the automatic transmission out of
PA R K f o r t o w i n g .
Manual Transmission
The manufacturer recommends towing your vehicle with all four wheels OFF the ground
using a flatbed.
If flatbed equipment is not available, and the transmission is operable, the vehicle may be
flat towed (with all four wheels on the ground) under the following conditions:
•ThetransmissionmustbeinNEUTRAL.
•Thetowingspeedmustnotexceed65mph(105km/h).
•Thereisnolimitationontowingdistance.

NOTE:
Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km)
or twelve months, whichever comes first.
Severe Duty All Models
Change Engine Oil at 4000 miles (6,500 km) if the vehicle is operated in a dusty and off
road environment. This type of vehicle use is considered Severe Duty
Once A Month Or Before A Long Trip:
•Checkengineoillevel
•Checkwindshieldwasherfluidlevel
•Checktirepressureandlookforunusualwearordamage.Rotatetiresatthefirstsign
of irregular wear, even if it occurs before your next scheduled service.
•Checkthefluidlevelsofthecoolantreservoir,brakemastercylinder,andpower
steering and fill as needed.
•Checkfunctionofallinteriorandexteriorlights
Required Maintenance Intervals.
Refer to the maintenance schedules on the following page for the required maintenance
intervals.
At Every Oil Change Interval As Indicated By Oil Change Indicator System:
•Change oil and filter
•Rotatethetires.Rotate at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before your next
scheduled service
•Inspect battery and clean and tighten terminals as required
•Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, hoses and park brake
•Inspect engine cooling system protection and hoses
•Inspect exhaust system
•Inspect engine air cleaner if using in dusty or off-road conditions

Once A Month
•Checktirepressureandlookforunusualwearordamage.
•Inspectthebattery,andcleanandtightentheterminalsasrequired.
•Checkthefluidlevelsofthecoolantreservoir,brakemastercylinder,andpower

•Checkalllightsandotherelectricalitemsforcorrectoperation.
At Each Oil Change
