three different height levels:
❒Position 0 (platform completely
lowered);❒Position 1 (platform at threshold
level);
❒Position 2 (platform completely
raised).
Load platform tiltingThe load platform can be located in
oblique position (tilted towards the rear
seat backrests, see fig. 39), in order
to facilitate access to the area
underneath the luggage compartment
(e.g. to pick up the space saver wheel
or the "Fix&Go Automatic" kit).
In addition, in this position, the platform
allows any object in the luggage
compartment to be correctly blocked,
preventing them from sliding in the case
of sharp braking.

IMPORTANT Two side gas shock
absorbers are provided to assist in
opening the bonnet. Do not tamper
with these shock absorbers and
accompany the bonnet when raising.
IMPORTANT Before raising the bonnet,
make sure that the arms of the wipers
are not raised from the windscreen and
that the wiper is not operational.CLOSING
32)
Lower the bonnet to approximately 20
centimetres from the engine
compartment then let it drop. Make
sure that the bonnet is completely
closed and not only fastened by the
locking device by trying to open it.
If it is not perfectly closed, do not try to
press the bonnet lid down but open it
and repeat the procedure.
WARNING
32)For safety reasons, the bonnet must
always be properly closed while driving.
Therefore, make sure that the bonnet
is properly closed and that the lock
is engaged. If you discover during travel
that the lock is not fully engaged, stop
immediately and close the bonnet in the
correct manner.
DUALDRIVE
ELECTRIC POWER
STEERINGThis only operates with the key turned
to MAR and the engine started. The
electric steering allows the force
required at the steering wheel to be
adjusted to suit driving conditions.
IMPORTANT When turning the ignition
key quickly, full power steering
functionality can be achieved after a
few seconds.
IMPORTANT During parking
manoeuvres requiring a lot of steering,
the steering may become harder; this is
normal and is due to the intervention
of the system to protect the electric
steering motor from overheating. No
repair intervention is needed in this
case. When the vehicle is used again,
the power steering will work normally
again.

IMPORTANT The Dualdrive electric
power steering has an electronic
damping effect while approaching the
end of stroke. In some manoeuvring
conditions, the steering wheel might
rotate a bit before touching its
mechanical stop. This behaviour is
standard as it takes place to prevent
strong impacts on the mechanical
components inside the device.POWER STEERING
ACTIVATION/
DEACTIVATION
33) 34)
Activation/deactivation: press the fig.
46 button.
The activation of the function is
signalled by the switching on of the
LED located on the button and by the
displaying of the word CITY on the
instrument panel or, depending on the
version, on the display. When the power steering is on, the
steering wheel effort is lighter, making
parking easier: therefore, this function is
particularly useful for driving in city
centres.
WARNING
33)It is absolutely forbidden to carry out
any after-market operation involving
steering system or steering column
modifications (e.g. installation of anti-theft
device) that could adversely affect
performance and safety, invalidate the
warranty and also result in non-compliance
of the vehicle with type-approval
requirements.
34)Before performing any maintenance
operations, always turn off the engine and
remove the key from the ignition to lock the
steering column (especially when the car
wheels are not touching the ground). If this
is not possible (for example if the key
needs to be turned to MAR or the engine
must be running), remove the main fuse
that protects the electric power steering.
VERSION WITH LPG
SYSTEM

INTRODUCTIONThe LPG version features two fuel
supply systems: one for petrol and one
for LPG.PASSIVE SAFETY/ACTIVE
SAFETYAlthough the LPG system has
numerous safety features, it is advisable
to proceed as follows every time the
vehicle is not in use for a long period or
moved in an emergency as a result of
a breakdown or accident:
❒unscrew the fixing devices A fig. 47,
then remove the cover B;
❒close the LPG cock by rotating the
ring nut C fig. 48 clockwise;
❒refit the cover and retighten the
fastening devices.

LPG TANKThe car has a (pressurised) tank A fig.
49 for collecting LPG in a liquid state. It
is located in the spare wheel
compartment with suitable protection.LPG tank certificationThe LPG tank is certified in accordance
with the regulations in force. In Italy, the tank has a life of 10 years
starting from the vehicle registration
date. If the vehicle has been registered
in a country other than Italy, the
duration and the testing/inspection
procedures of the LPG tank can vary
depending on the national laws of that
country. In any case, when the time limit
in the individual country has run out,
contact a Fiat Dealership to have the
tank replaced.
SELECTION OF
PETROL/LPG SUPPLY
TYPEThe (petrol/LPG switch) button A fig. 50
allows drivers to select petrol or LPG
operation.
If, during LPG operation, the same runs
out, the vehicle switches to petrol
automatically and all the bars of the
digital gauge on the display switch off,
next to the LPG warning. This condition
persists until the next LPG refuelling. The engine always starts up on petrol,
with automatic switching to LPG when
the best conditions are achieved
(engine water temperature, minimum
engine rpm limit) for switching to LPG.
SUPPLIES
LPGMaximum refuelling capacity (reserve
included): 38.4 litres. The figure already
takes into account the 80% tank filling
limit and the residual fluid required
for correct priming and it is the
maximum permitted capacity. In
addition, after different refuelling
processes, this figure could vary due to
differences between the network pump
supply pressures, pumps having
different supply/locking features, tank
not completely run out of fuel.

Warning light What it means
EBD FAILURE
The simultaneous switching on of the
(red) and
(amber) warning lights andESCwith the engine
on indicates either a fault of the EBD system or that the system is not available. In this case, the rear
wheels may suddenly lock and the vehicle may swerve when braking sharply. On certain versions a
dedicated message is displayed.
Drive very carefully to the nearest Fiat Dealership to have the system inspected immediately.
LOW BATTERY CHARGE
(for versions/markets, where provided)
If the warning light (or, on some versions, a message and a symbol on the display) remains on constantly or
flashing, contact a Fiat Dealership.DOORS/BONNET/LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OPEN
The warning light switches on (on some versions together with some messages and symbols in the display)
when one or more doors, the bonnet or the tailgate are not properly closed.
An acoustic signal is activated with the doors open and the vehicle moving.

Warning light What it means
“DUALDRIVE” ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILURE
During the engine start: when the key is turned to MAR, the warning light switches on, but it should
switch off after a few seconds. If the warning light stays on, turn the ignition key to STOP and start the
engine again. If the warning light stays on (on some versions, together with a message and a symbol on
the display), the effort to operate the steering wheel could be increased; steering is, however, possible. In
this case, contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
While driving: if the warning light switches on whilst driving (on some versions, together with a message
and a symbol on the display) you may not have steering assistance from the system. Although it will still be
possible to steer the vehicle, the effort needed to operate the steering wheel could be increased: contact a
Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT In some circumstances, factors independent of the electric power steering could cause the
warning light on the instrument panel to switch on. In this case, stop the vehicle immediately (should it be
in motion), stop the engine for about 20 seconds and then restart the engine. If the warning light (or, on
some versions, a message and a symbol on the display) remains on constantly, contact a Fiat Dealership.
IMPORTANT After the battery is disconnected, the steering must be initialised. The warning light switches
on to indicate this. To carry out this procedure turn the steering wheel all the way from one end to the other
or drive in a straight line for about a hundred metres.

Amber warning lights
Warning light What it means
iTPMS
(for versions/markets, where provided)
iTPMS failure/iTPMS temporarily deactivated
The warning light flashes for about 75 seconds and then stays on constantly (together with a message on
the display) to indicate that the system is temporarily deactivated or faulty. The system goes back to normal
operation when the operating conditions allow it. If this is not the case, carry out the "Reset" procedure
after restoring the normal operating conditions.
If the malfunction warning persists, contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
Tyre pressure low
The warning light switches on continuously to indicate that the tyre pressure is lower than the
recommended value and/or that slow pressure loss is occurring. In these cases, optimal tyre duration and
fuel consumption may not be guaranteed. It is advisable to restore the correct pressure value (see the
"Wheels" paragraph in the "Technical specifications" section).
Once the normal operating conditions of the vehicle are restored, carry out the "Reset" procedure.
IMPORTANT Do not continue driving with one or more flat tyres as handling may be compromised. Stop
the vehicle, avoiding sharp braking and steering.City Brake Control - "Collision Mitigation" SYSTEM DEACTIVATED
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The warning light comes on when the City Brake Control - "Collision Mitigation" system is deactivated
through the Setup menu. On some versions, the activation/deactivation of the system is indicated by a
message shown on the display.

ACTIVE SAFETY
SYSTEMSABS (Anti-lock Braking
System)
44) 45) 46) 47) 48) 49) 50)
This system, which is an integral part of
the braking system, prevents one or
more wheels from locking and slipping
in all road surface conditions,
irrespective of the intensity of the
braking action, ensuring that the vehicle
can be controlled even during
emergency braking and optimising
stopping distances.
The ABS also includes the following
systems: EBD (Electronic Braking Force
Distribution), MSR (Motor
Schleppmoment Regelung) and HBA
(Hydraulic Brake Assist).
51) 52) 53)
IMPORTANT To obtain the maximum
efficiency of the braking system, a
bedding-in period of about 500 km is
needed: during this period it is better to
avoid sharp, repeated and prolonged
braking.
System interventionThe driver can feel that the ABS system
has come into action because the
brake pedal pulsates slightly and the
system gets noisier: this is entirely
normal with the system operating.ESC (Electronic Stability
Control) SYSTEM
54) 55) 56) 57) 58) 59)
The ESC system improves the
directional control and stability of the
vehicle in various driving conditions,
correcting understeer and oversteer,
distributing the brake force on the
appropriate wheels.System interventionThe intervention of the system is
indicated by the flashing of theESC
warning light on the instrument panel,
to inform the driver that the vehicle is in
critical stability and grip conditions.System activationThe ESC system switches on
automatically when the engine is
started and cannot be switched off.
HH (Hill Holder) SYSTEM
60) 61)
This system is an integral part of the
ESC system and facilitates starting on
slopes.
The device is automatically switched on
in the following cases:
❒uphill: vehicle stationary on a road
with a gradient higher than 5%, engine
running, brake pressed and
transmission in neutral or gear other
than reverse engaged;
❒downhill: vehicle stationary on a road
with a gradient higher than 5%, engine
running, brake pressed and reverse
gear engaged.ASR (AntiSlip
Regulation) SYSTEMThe ASR system automatically operates
in the event of one or both drive
wheels slipping, loss of grip on wet
roads (aquaplaning) and acceleration
on slippery, snowy or icy roads, etc.Engagement/disengagement of the
ASR systemThe system comes on automatically
whenever the engine is started. Whilst
driving, the ASR can be switched off
and subsequently switched on again by
pressing the ASR OFF button fig. 60.

DST (Dynamic Steering
Torque or steering
corrector) system
62)
The DST (steering corrector) function
uses the integration of the ESC system
with the electric power steering to
increase the safety level of the whole
vehicle. In critical situations
(understeering, oversteering, braking
with different grip conditions), through
the DST function the ESC system
controls the steering to implement an
additional torque contribution on the
steering wheel, to suggest the most
correct manoeuvre to the driver.
ERM (Electronic Rollover
Mitigation) SYSTEM
63)
The system monitors the tendency of
the wheels to rise from the ground if the
driver performs extreme manoeuvres
like quick steering to avoid an obstacle,
especially in poor road conditions.
If these conditions occur, the system
intervenes on the brakes and engine
power to reduce the possibility that the
wheels are raised from the ground. It
is not possible to avoid tendency to roll
over if the phenomenon is due to
reasons such as driving on high side
gradients, collision with objects or other
vehicles.
WARNING
44)When the ABS intervenes and you feel
the brake pedal pulsating, do not reduce
the pressure, but hold it down firmly and
confidently; in doing so you will brake
in the shortest distance possible,
depending on the current road conditions.
45)To obtain the maximum efficiency of
the braking system, a bedding-in period of
about 500 km is needed: during this period
it is better to avoid sharp, repeated and
prolonged braking.46)If the ABS intervenes, this indicates
that the traction of the tyres on the road is
about to reach its limit. You must slow
down to a speed compatible with the
available grip.
47)The ABS cannot alter the natural laws
of physics, and cannot increase grip which
depends on the condition of the road.
48)The ABS cannot prevent accidents,
including those due to excessive speed on
corners, driving on low-grip surfaces or
aquaplaning.
49)The capability of the ABS must never
be tested irresponsibly and dangerously, in
such a way as to compromise personal
safety and the safety of others.
50)For the correct operation of the ABS,
the tyres must of necessity be the same
make and type on all wheels, in perfect
condition and, above all, of the prescribed
type and dimensions.
51)The HBA system cannot increase tyre
grip on the road over the limits imposed by
laws of physics: always drive carefully
according to the conditions of the road
surface.
52)The HBA system cannot prevent
accidents, including those due to excessive
speed on corners, driving on low-grip
surfaces or aquaplaning.
53)The HBA system is an aid for the driver,
who must always pay full attention while
driving. The responsibility always rests with
the driver. The capability of the HBA
system must never be tested irresponsibly
and dangerously, in such a way as to
compromise the safety of the driver, the
other occupants of the car or any other
road user.
