B - air recirculation on/off button: internal air recirculation makes it possible to reach the required heating or cooling conditions
more quickly depending on the mode selected. Do not use the air recirculation function on rainy/cold days as it would
considerably increase the possibility of the windows steaming up;

IMPORTANT Two side gas shock
absorbers are provided to assist in
opening the bonnet. Do not tamper
with these shock absorbers and
accompany the bonnet when raising.
IMPORTANT Before raising the bonnet,
make sure that the arms of the wipers
are not raised from the windscreen and
that the wiper is not operational.CLOSING
32)
Lower the bonnet to approximately 20
centimetres from the engine
compartment then let it drop. Make
sure that the bonnet is completely
closed and not only fastened by the
locking device by trying to open it.
If it is not perfectly closed, do not try to
press the bonnet lid down but open it
and repeat the procedure.
WARNING
32)For safety reasons, the bonnet must
always be properly closed while driving.
Therefore, make sure that the bonnet
is properly closed and that the lock
is engaged. If you discover during travel
that the lock is not fully engaged, stop
immediately and close the bonnet in the
correct manner.
DUALDRIVE
ELECTRIC POWER
STEERINGThis only operates with the key turned
to MAR and the engine started. The
electric steering allows the force
required at the steering wheel to be
adjusted to suit driving conditions.
IMPORTANT When turning the ignition
key quickly, full power steering
functionality can be achieved after a
few seconds.
IMPORTANT During parking
manoeuvres requiring a lot of steering,
the steering may become harder; this is
normal and is due to the intervention
of the system to protect the electric
steering motor from overheating. No
repair intervention is needed in this
case. When the vehicle is used again,
the power steering will work normally
again.

CONTROL PANEL AND ON-BOARD INSTRUMENTSThe instrument background colour and type may vary according to the versions.
The warning lights on the instrument panel may change according to the version/trim level (e.g. LPG, Natural Power, Dualogic
gearbox, etc.) of the vehicle. The warning lights
and
are only present on Diesel versions. On diesel versions, the
maximum engine speed (red range on the rev counter) corresponds to 5000 rpm.

Warning light What it means
GLOW PLUG PREHEATING FAILURE (Diesel versions)
The warning light will flash (on some versions, together with a message and a symbol on the display) to
indicate a fault in the plug preheating system.
In this case, contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.LPG FUEL RESERVE (LPG versions)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The warning light switches on when the residual quantity of LPG in the cylinder goes below 1/5 of the
capacity. The display will also show a dedicated message.METHANE RESERVE (Natural Power versions)
The warning light switches on when the residual quantity of methane in the cylinder goes below 1/5 of the
capacity. The display will also show a dedicated message.

SYMBOLS AND MESSAGES ON THE DISPLAY
Warning light What it means
DUALOGIC GEARBOX FAILURE
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The symbol is displayed, along with a dedicated message and an acoustic signal, when a fault is detected
in the gearbox.
The display also shows the messages for:
❒downshift request;
❒manual (or automatic) drive mode impossible;
❒clutch overheating;
❒delayed start/press of the brake pedal;
❒brake pedal press and repetition of the manoeuvre
❒gear not available;
❒manoeuvre not allowed;
❒gearbox lever in neutral position.
32) 33) 34)
WARNING
32)In the case of a gearbox failure, contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible to have the system checked.
33)If the messages continue to be shown in the display, contact a Fiat Dealership.
34)To protect the efficiency of the clutch, do not use the accelerator to keep the vehicle stationary (e.g. when stopped on an incline). The
clutch could overheat and be damaged; use the brake pedal and only operate the accelerator pedal when you decide to set off.

Each seat belt must be used by only
one person. Never travel with a child
sitting on the passenger's lap and
a single belt to protect them both fig.
73. In general, do not place any objects
between the person and the belt.
SEAT BELT
MAINTENANCEFor keeping the seat belts in efficient
conditions, observe the following:
❒always use the seat belt well
stretched and never twisted; make sure
that it is free to run without
obstructions;
❒check seat belt operation as follows:
attach the seat belt and pull it hard;
❒replace the belt after an accident of a
certain severity even if it does not
appear to be damaged. Always replace
the seat belt if the pretensioners were
deployed;
❒to clean the seat belts, wash by hand
with water and neutral soap, rinse and
leave to dry in the shade. Never use
strong detergents, bleach, paints or any
other chemical substance which could
damage the belt fibres;
❒prevent the retractors from getting
wet: their correct operation is only
guaranteed if water does not get inside;
❒replace the seat belt when it shows
wear or cuts.
WARNING
71)The pretensioner may be used only
once. Contact a Fiat Dealership to have it
replaced after it has been deployed.
72)Removing or otherwise tampering with
seat belt and pretensioner components
is strictly prohibited. Any intervention
on these components must be performed
by qualified and authorised technicians.
Always contact a Fiat Dealership.
73)For maximum safety, keep the back of
your seat upright, lean back into it and
make sure the seat belt fits closely across
your torso and pelvis. Always fasten the
seat belts for both the front and rear seats!
Travelling without wearing seat belts will
increase the risk of serious injury and even
death in the event of an accident.
74)If the belt has been subjected to high
levels of stress, for example after an
accident, it should be changed completely
together with the attachments, attachment
fixing screws and the pretensioner. In
fact, even if the belt has no visible defects,
it may have lost its resilience.
WARNING
50)Operations which lead to impacts,
vibrations or localised heating (over 100°C
for a maximum of six hours) in the area
around the pretensioner may damage or
deploy it. Contact a Fiat Dealership should
intervention be necessary on these
components.

WARNING
99)It is dangerous to run the engine in
enclosed areas. The engine burns oxygen
and releases carbon dioxide, carbon
monoxide and other toxic gases.
100)Remember that the brake servo and
power steering are not operational until the
engine has been started, therefore you
need to apply much more force than usual
to the brake pedal and steering wheel.
101)If the engine fails to start with a gear
engaged, the potentially dangerous
situation due to the fact that the gearbox is
automatically placed in neutral will be
signalled by an acoustic signal.
WARNING
51)Warning light
flashing for 60
seconds after starting or during prolonged
cranking of the engine indicates a fault
with the glow plug heating system. You
can use the vehicle as usual if the engine
starts but you should contact a Fiat
Dealership as soon as possible.
52)It is advisable not to demand maximum
performance from your vehicle (e.g.
excessive acceleration, long distances at
maximum rpm, excessively intense braking,
etc.) when it is first used.
53)When the engine is off, do not leave
the key turned to MAR to prevent
unnecessary electrical consumption from
draining the battery.54)Never jump start the engine by
pushing, towing or coasting downhill.
These actions could cause the fuel to flow
into the catalytic converter and damage
it beyond repair.
55)Revving up before stopping the engine
is useless, it causes unnecessary fuel
consumption and can damage the engine,
in particular engines equipped with
turbocharger.
HANDBRAKE
102) 103)
The handbrake lever is located between
the two front seats.
Handbrake engagement: pull lever A
fig. 89 upwards until the vehicle is
braked. Four or five clicks are generally
enough when the car is on level
ground, while ten or eleven may be
required if the car is on a steep slope
and laden. If this is not the case,
contact a Fiat Dealership for
adjustment.
Handbrake disengagement: slightly
raise lever A and hold button B pressed
checking that the
warning light
switches off in the instrument panel.
