KNOWING YOUR VEHICLE

IGNITION DEVICE
The key can be turned to 3 different
positions fig. 5:
STOP: engine off, key can be
removed, steering column locked.
Some electrical devices (e.g. car radio,
central door locking system, alarm,
etc.) can work.
MAR: driving position. All electric
devices can operate.
AVV: engine starting. The ignition
device is fitted with a safety system that
requires the ignition key to be turned
back to STOP if the engine does not
start, before the starting operation can
be repeated.STEERING LOCK
Activation
When the device is at STOP, remove
the key and turn the steering wheel until
it locks.
Turning off
Move the steering wheel slightly as you
turn the ignition key to MAR-ON

WARNING
4)Never extract the key while the vehicle
is moving. The steering wheel will
automatically lock as soon as it is turned.
This also applies to cases in which the
vehicle is towed. It is absolutely forbidden
to carry out any after-market operation
involving steering system or steering
column modifications (e.g. installation of
anti-theft device) that could adversely
affect performance, invalidate the warranty,
cause serious safety problems and also
result in the car not meeting type-approval
requirements.
THE FIAT CODE
SYSTEM
This is an electrical engine locking
system which increases protection
against attempted theft of the vehicle. It
is automatically activated when the
key is removed from the ignition device.
Each time the vehicle is started turning
the ignition key toMAR-ON, the Fiat
CODE system control unit sends a
recognition code to the Powertrain
Control Module to deactivate the
immobiliser.
If, during ignition, the code is not
correctly recognised, the warning light
lights up on the instrument panel.
In this case, turn the key toSTOP
and then back toMAR;ifthe
lock continues, try with the other keys
provided with the vehicle. Contact a
Fiat Dealership if you still cannot start
the engine.
IMPORTANT Each key has its own
code which must be stored by the
system's control unit. Contact a Fiat
Dealership to have new keys (up to 8)
stored with a code.

Setup menu functions
The menu comprises a series of
functions arranged in a circular way,
which can be selected through the
andbuttons to access the
different selection operations and
settings (setup) given in the following
paragraphs. A submenu is provided for
some items (Setting the clock and
Set units).
The set-up menu is activated by
pressing theSET
button briefly.Single presses of the

NOTE Only the reduced menu can be
accessed while the vehicle is moving
for safety reasons ("Speed Beep"
setting). Stop the vehicle to access the
full menu.
TRIP COMPUTER
General information
The Trip computer is used to display
information on vehicle operation when
the ignition key is turned to MAR.
This function allows you to define two
separate trips, called "Trip A" and
"Trip B", for monitoring the "complete
mission" (journey) of the vehicle in a
reciprocally independent manner. Both
functions can be reset (reset means
start of a new journey).
"Trip A" can be used to display the
values relating to:
External temperature (for Natural
Power vehicles with temperature
sensor)
Range
Distance travelled
Average fuel consumption
Instantaneous consumption
Average speed
Trip time (driving time).
"Trip B", available on multifunction
display only, is used to display
the values relating to:
Distance travelled B
Average consumption B
Average speed B
Trip time B (driving time).

140)Prevent power steering fluid from
coming into contact with hot engine parts:
it is flammable.
141)Battery fluid is poisonous and
corrosive. Avoid contact with skin and
eyes. Keep naked flames and sources of
sparks away from the battery: risk of
explosion and fire.
142)Using the battery with insufficient
battery fluid may irreparably damage the
battery and may cause an explosion.
143)When performing any operation on
the battery or near it, always protect your
eyes with special goggles.
WARNING
43)When topping up, take care not to mix
up the various types of fluids: they are
not compatible with each other and could
seriously damage the vehicle.
44)Used engine oil and replaced oil filters
contain substances which are harmful to
the environment. To change oil and filters,
we advise you to contact a Fiat Dealership.
45)PARAFLU
UPanti-freeze fluid is used
in the cooling system. Use fluid of the
same type as that contained in the cooling
system for any top-ups. PARAFLU
UP
fluid cannot be mixed with any other type
of fluid. If this occurs, do not start the
engine and contact your Fiat Dealership
immediately.
46)Prevent brake fluid, which is highly
corrosive, from coming into contact with
painted parts. Should it happen,
immediately wash with water.47)Incorrect installation of electric and
electronic devices may cause severe
damage to your vehicle. After purchasing
your vehicle, if you wish to install any
accessories (anti-theft, radio phone, etc.),
go to a Fiat Dealership, which will suggest
the most suitable devices and advise
you whether a higher capacity battery
needs to be installed.
48)If the vehicle will be unused for an
extended period of time in extremely cold
weather conditions, remove the battery
and store it in a heated area to prevent it
from freezing.
WARNING
3)Power steering fluid consumption is
extremely low; if another top-up is required
after only a short period of time, have the
system checked for leaks at a Fiat
Dealership.
4)Used transmission fluid contains
substances that are harmful to the
environment. It is advisable to have the oil
changed by a Fiat Dealership where it
will be disposed of respecting the
environment and according to legal
requirements.
5)Batteries contain substances which are
very dangerous for the environment. You
are recommended to go to a Fiat
Dealership to have the battery replaced
where the old battery will be disposed of
respecting both the environment and
the laws in force.
BATTERY
RECHARGING
IMPORTANT The battery recharging
procedure is given as information only.
You are advised to contact a Fiat
Dealership to have this operation
carried out.
We recommend recharging the battery
slowly for approximately 24 hours at
low amperage. Charging for a longer
time may damage the battery.
To recharge, proceed as follows:
without Start&Stop system:
disconnect the terminal from the
negative battery pole;
connect the charger cables to the
battery terminals, observing the polarity;
turn on the battery charger;
when it is recharged, turn the
charger off before disconnecting it from
the battery;
reconnect the terminal to the
negative battery pole.

The radio has been designed according
to the specifications of the passenger
compartment, with a personalised
design matching the style of the
dashboard perfectly.
TIPS
Road safety
Please, learn how to use all different
radio functions (e.g. save stations)
before beginning to drive.
Reception conditions
Reception conditions change
constantly while driving. Reception may
be interfered with by the presence of
mountains, buildings or bridges,
especially when you are far away from
the broadcaster.
IMPORTANT The volume may be
increased when receiving traffic
information and news.

Care and maintenance
Clean the cover with a soft anti-static
cloth only. Cleaning and polishing
products may damage the surface.ANTITHEFT PROTECTION
The radio is equipped with an anti-theft
protection system based on the
exchange of information between the
radio and the electronic control unit
(Body Computer) present on the
vehicle.
This system guarantees maximum
safety and prevents the secret code
from being entered each time the radio
power supply is disconnected.
If the check has a positive outcome, the
radio will start to function, whereas if
the comparison codes are not the
same or if the electronic control unit
(Body Computer) is replaced, the
device will ask the user to enter the
secret code according to the procedure
described in the paragraph below.
Entering the secret code
When the radio is switched on, if the
secret code is requested, the display
will show the word "Code" for about 2
seconds followed by four dashes "- -
- -".
The code is made up of four digits from
1 to 6, each corresponding to one of
the dashes.
To enter the first digit, press the
corresponding button of the preset
stations (from 1 to 6). Enter the other
code digits in the same way.If the four digits are not entered within
20 seconds, the display will show
"Enter code----".Ifthis occurs, it is
not considered an incorrect code entry.
After entering the fourth digit (within
20 seconds), the radio will work.
If an incorrect code is entered, the radio
will emit a sound and the display
shows the text "Radio blocked/wait" to
notify the user of the need to enter
the correct code.
Each time the user enters an incorrect
code, the waiting time will gradually
increase (1 min, 2 min, 4 min, 8 min, 16
min, 30 min,1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, 16h, 24h)
up to a maximum of 24 hours. The
waiting time will be shown on the
display with the text "Radio blocked/
wait". After the text has disappeared it
is possible to start the code entering
procedure again.
Vehicle radio passport
This document certifies ownership of
the car radio. The car radio passport
shows the radio model, serial number
and secret code.
IMPORTANT Keep the radio passport in
a safe place so that you can give the
information to the relevant authorities if
the radio is stolen.

In case of loss of the car radio
passport, contact the Fiat Dealership,
taking an ID document and the vehicle
ownership documents.
