SEATS
Seats are a part of the Occupant Restraint System of
the vehicle.
WARNING!
• It is dangerous to ride in a cargo area,
insi de

or outside of a vehicle. In a colli-
sion, people riding in these areas are more likely
to be seriously injured or killed.
• Do not allow people to ride in any area of your
vehicle that is not equipped with seats and seat
belts. In a collision, people riding in these areas
are more likely to be seriously injured or killed.
• Be sure everyone in your vehicle is in a seat and
using a seat belt properly.
DRIVER'S POWER SEAT (for versions/
markets, where provided)
The power seat switch is on the outboard side of the
seat near the floor. Use this switch to move the seat up,
down, forward, rearward or to tilt the seat.

Adjusting The Seat Forward Or Rearward
The seat can be adjusted both forward and rearward.
Push the seat switch forward or rearward, the seat will
move in the direction of the switch. Release the switch
when the desired position has been reached. Adjusting The Seat Up Or Down
The height of the seats can be adjusted up or down. Pull
upward or push downward on the seat switch, the seat
will move in the direction of the switch. Release the
switch when the desired position is reached.
Tilting The Seat Up Or Down
The angle of the seat cushion can be adjusted in four
directions. Pull upward or push downward on the front
or rear of the seat switch; the front or rear of the seat
cushion will move in the direction of the switch. Re-
lease the switch when the desired position is reached.

DRIVER'S SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
The seat height control lever is located on the out-
board side of the seat. Raise the lever to raise the seat.
Lower the lever to lower the seat. The total seat travel
is approximately 55 mm.

FOLD-FLAT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT (for
versions/markets, where provided)
This feature allows for extended cargo space. When
the seat is folded flat, it is an extension of the load floor
surface (allowing long cargo to fit from the rear hatch
up to the instrument panel). The fold-flat seatback alsohas a hardback surface that you can use as a work
surface when the seat is folded flat and the vehicle is
not in motion.

Pull upward on the recline lever to fold or unfold the
seat.
WARNING!
Adjusting a seat while the vehicle is mov-
ing is

dangerous. The sudden movement
of the seat could cause you to lose control. Adjust
any seat only while the vehicle is parked.

Seat Belts For Older Children
Children over 1.50 m in height can wear seat belts
instead of using child restraints.
Use this simple 5-step test to decide whether the seat
belt properly fits the child or if they should still use a
Group 2 or Group 3 child restraint to improve the fit of
the seat belt:
1. Can the child sit all the way back against the back ofthe vehicle seat?
2. Do the child’s knees bend comfortably over the front of the vehicle seat – while they are still sitting
all the way back?
3. Does the shoulder belt cross the child’s shoulder between their neck and arm?
4. Is the lap part of the belt as low as possible, touching the child’s thighs and not their stomach?
5. Can the child stay seated like this for the whole trip? If the answer to any of these questions was “no,” then
the child still needs to use a Group 2 or 3 child restraint
in this vehicle. If the child is using the lap/shoulder belt,
check belt fit periodically and make sure the seat belt
buckle is latched. A child’s squirming or slouching can
move the belt out of position. If the shoulder belt
contacts the face or neck, move the child closer to the
center of the vehicle, or use a booster seat to position
the seat belt on the child correctly.
WARNING!
Never allow a child to put the shoulder
belt un

der an arm or behind their back.
In a crash, the shoulder belt will not protect a
child properly, which may result in serious injury
or death. A child must always wear both the lap
and shoulder portions of the seat belt correctly.

Gross Trailer Weight (GTW)
The GTW is the weight of the trailer plus the weight of
all cargo, consumables and equipment (permanent or
temporary) loaded in or on the trailer in its "loaded and
ready for operation" condition. The recommended way
to measure GTW is to put your fully loaded trailer on
a vehicle scale. The entire weight of the trailer must be
supported by the scale.
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR)
The GCWR is the total permissible weight of your
vehicle and trailer when weighed in combination.
NOTE:The GCWR rating includes a 68 kg allowance
for the presence of a driver.
Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR)
The GAWR is the maximum capacity of the front and
rear axles. Distribute the load over the front and rear
axles evenly. Make sure that you do not exceed either
front or rear GAWR.

It is important that you do not exceed
th e

maximum front or rear GAWR. A
dangerous driving condition can result if either
rating is exceeded. You could lose control of the
vehicle and have an accident . Tongue Weight (TW)
The tongue weight is the downward force exerted on
the hitch ball by the trailer. In most cases, it should not
be less than 7% or more than 10% of the trailer load.
Tongue weight must not exceed the lesser of either the
hitch certification rating, or the trailer tongue chassis
rating. It should never be less than 4% of the trailer
load, and not less than 25 kg. You must consider tongue
load as part of the load on your vehicle and its’ GAWR.

Consult with your hitch and trailer manufacturer
or a reputable trailer/dealer for additional infor-
mation.
Frontal Area
The frontal area is the maximum height multiplied by
the maximum width of the front of a trailer.
Trailer Sway Control
Refer to “TSC (Trailer Sway Control)” under “Knowing
Your Vehicle/Electronic Brake Control System” for
further information.
