HILL HOLDER SYSTEM
(where provided)
It is an integral part of the ESP system and facilitates
starting on an uphill slope.
It is automatically activated in the following conditions:
Uphill: vehicle stationary on a road with gradient
above 2%, engine running, clutch and brake pedals
pressed and gearbox in neutral position or gear
engaged (reverse excluded).
Downhill: stationary on a road with gradient above 2%,
engine running, clutch and brake pedals pressed and
reverse engaged.
During pickup the ESP system control unit maintains
the wheel braking pressure until the engine torque
required for start up is reached, or anyway for a
maximum of 2 seconds, so that the right foot can be
moved easily from the brake pedal to the accelerator
pedal.After 2 seconds and without starting the car, the
system automatically deactivates gradually releasing the
braking pressure. During this phase it is possible to
hear the typical brake mechanical disengaging noise
which indicates the car is about to move off.
FAILURE WARNINGS
In the event of failure, the instrument cluster warning
light *will come on together with the message on
the reconfigurable multifunction display.
IMPORTANT The Hill Holder system is not a parking
brake therefore, never leave the car without engaging
the parking brake, the first gear and turning the engine
off.
WARNINGFor correct operation of the ESP system, the tyres must absolutely be of the same
brand and type on all wheels, in perfect conditions and, above all, of the type,
brand and size specified.
WARNINGDuring the use of the spare wheel, the ESP system carries on working. However,
you must remind that the spare wheel presents dimensions smaller than the
standard tyre and therefore the grip is reduced as to the other car tyres.

WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES
ESP SYSTEM FAILURE (where provided) -
SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
Turning the ignition key to MAR, the warning light
on the dial comes on but shall go off after few
seconds.
If the warning light does not go off or stays on when
travelling (on certain versions together with the
message on the display) and with led on ASR button,
contact Fiat Dealership.
Warning light flashing when driving indicates that the
ESP system is active.

ASR SYSTEM (Antislip Regulation)
It’s a function of ESP system and controls the vehicle
drive and cuts in automatically every time one or both
driving wheels slip.
In slipping conditions, two different control systems
are activated:
❒if the slipping involves both the driving wheels, the
ASR function intervenes reducing the power
transmitted by the engine;
❒if the slipping involves only one driving wheel, the
ASR system cuts in automatically braking the wheel
that is slipping. The action of the ASR is particularly helpful in the
following circumstances:
❒ slipping of the inner wheel due to the effect of
dynamic load changes or excessive acceleration;
❒ too much power transmitted to the wheels also in
relation to the conditions of the road surface;
❒ acceleration on slippery, snowy or frozen surfaces;
❒in the case of loss of grip on a wet surface
(aquaplaning).

SWITCHING ON/OFF OF THE ASR SYSTEM
The ASR function switches on automatically each time the engine is
started.
When travelling, the ASR system can be switched off and on again by
pressing the ASR switch on the central control panel.
Switching on is indicated by the relevant message on the reconfigurable
multifunction display (where provided).
When the device is switched off this is shown by the lighting up of the led
on the ASR button and by the message on the reconfigurable
multifunction display .
If the ASR function is switched off when travelling, it will turn on again
automatically the next time the engine is started
When travelling on snow with snow chains, it may be helpful to turn the
ASR device off: in fact, in these conditions, slipping of the driving wheels
when moving off makes it possible to obtain better drive.
WARNINGThe performance of the system, in terms of active safety should not induce the
driver to take pointless and unnecessary risks. The style of driving must in any case
always be adapted to the conditions of the road surface, visibility an traffic. Road
safety is always the driver’s responsibility.

ESP-SYSTEM

ESP ist ein Überwachungssystem der Stabilität des
Fahrzeugs und unterstützt die Richtungskontrolle bei
Haftungsverlust der Reifen.
Der Einschritt des ESP-Systems ist daher ganz
besonders nützlich bei Veränderung der
Haftungsbedingungen des Untergrunds.
EINSCHRITT DES SYSTEMS
Der Eingriff des Systems wird durch das Blinken der
Kontrollleuchte auf der Instrumententafel angezeigt,
um den Fahrer zu informieren, dass sich das Fahrzeug
in einer kritischen Stabilitäts- und Haftungssituation
befindet.EINSCHALTUNG DES SYSTEMS
ESP schaltet sich automatisch bei Anlassen des
Fahrzeugs ein und kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden.
FEHLERMELDUNG
Bei eventuellen Betriebsanomalien schaltet sich das
ESP-System automatisch aus, auf der Instrumententafel
leuchtet die Lampe ákontinuierlich, und es erscheint
eine Meldung auf dem rekonfigurierbaren
Multifunktionsdispla. In diesem Fall wenden Sie sich
bitte schnellstmöglichst an das Fiat Kundendienstnetz.
Die Leistungen des ESP-Systems sollten den Fahrer jedoch nicht veranlassen,
unnütze und ungerechtfertigte Risiken einzugehen. Die Fahrweise ist stets dem
Zustand der Straße, der Sicht und dem Verkehr anzupassen. Die Verantwortung für
die Straßensicherheit liegt stets beim Fahrer des Fahrzeugs.ACHTUNG

Diese Vorrichtung ist ein fester Bestandteil des ESP-
Systems und erleichtert das Anfahren auf ansteigenden
Strecken. Es schaltet sich automatisch unter folgenden
Bedingungen ein:
Wenn das Fahrzeug auf einem Abhang mit Gefälle
größer 2% steht, der Motor läuft, das Kupplungs- und
Bremspedal betätigt und die Gangschaltung im Leerlauf
oder mit eingelegtem Vorwärtsgang ist.
Wenn das Fahrzeug auf einem Abhang mit Gefälle

Bremspedal betätigt und der Rückwärtsgang eingelegt
ist.
Beim Anfahren behält das ESP-System den Bremsdruck
auf den Rädern bei, bis die für das Anfahren
notwendige Drehzahl erreicht wurde, oder in jedem
Fall für höchstens 2 Sekunden, damit der rechte Fuß
bequem vom Bremspedal auf das Gaspedal
überwechseln kann.Fährt das Fahrzeug nach Verlauf der 2 Sekunden nicht
an,. schaltet sich das System automatisch aus und gibt
progressiv den Bremsdruck frei. Während dieser
Freigabephase hört man das typische Geräusch der
mechanischen Auslösung der Bremsen, das die baldige
Bewegung des Fahrzeugs ankündigt.
FEHLERMELDUNG
Eine eventuelle Störung des Systems wird durch das
Aufleuchten der Kontrollleuchte *auf der
Instrumententafel (gemeinsam mit einer Meldung auf
dem rekonfigurierbaren Multifunktionsdisplay)
angezeigt.
ZUR BEACHTUNG Das Hill Holder-System ist keine
Parkbremse, daher sollten Sie das Fahrzeug nicht
verlassen, ohne die Handbremse anzuziehen, den
Motor abzustellen und den ersten Gang einzulegen.
ACHTUNGFür eine korrekte Betriebsweise des ESP-Systems ist es unabdingbar, dass die
Reifen an allen Rädern derselben Marke und desselben Typs und in perfektem
Zustand sind und vor allem dem vorgeschriebenen Typ, Marke und Größe
entsprechen.
ACHTUNGAuch bei eventueller Benutzung des Notrads funktioniert das ESP-System. Es ist
jedoch zu berücksichtigen, dass das Notrad, das kleiner als ein normaler Reifen ist,
eine kleinere Haftung als die anderen Reifen des Fahrzeugs hat.

KONTROLLEUCHTEN UND AUZEIGEN
FEHLER ESP-SYSTEM (wo vorgesehen) -
SYSTEM NICHT VERFÜGBAR
Beim Drehen des Schlüssels auf MAR schaltet sich
die Kontrollleuchte auf dem Ziffernblatt ein, muss
aber nach einigen Sekunden wieder ausgehen. Sollte
die Kontrollleuchte nicht ausgehen oder während
der Fahrt weiter leuchten (bei einigen Versionen
zusammen mit der Meldung auf dem Display) und
mit leuchtet der LED auf der Taste ASR wenden Sie
sich bitte an das Fiat Kundendienstnetz. Das Blinken
der Kontrollleuchte während der Fahrt zeigt den
Eingriff des ESP-Systems an.

ASR-SYSTEM (Antislip Regulation)
Die ASR-System ist integrierender Bestandteil der ESP-
System und kontrolliert die Traktion des Fahrzeugs und
schreitet jedesmal dann automatisch ein, wenn ein oder
beide Antriebsräder zu rutschen beginnen.
Entsprechend den Schlupfbedingungen werden zwei
unterschiedliche Kontrollsysteme aktiv:
❒drehen beide Antriebsräder durch, greift die ASR-
Funktion ein und reduziert die Antriebsleistung des
Fahrzeugs;
❒dreht nur eines der beiden Antriebsräder durch,
bewirkt die ASR-Funktion eine automatische
Bremsung des durchdrehenden Rades. Der Eingriff der ASR-Funktion ist unter den folgenden
Bedingungen besonders vorteilhaft:
❒Rutschen des inneren Rades in der Kurve auf Grund
dynamischer Lastveränderungen oder zu starker
Beschleunigung;
❒zu starke an die Räder abgegebene Antriebskraft,
auch im Verhältnis zum Straßenzustand;
❒bei Beschleunigung auf rutschigem Untergrund,
Schnee oder Eis;
❒bei Verlust der Haftung auf nassem Untergrund
(Aquaplaning).

SISTEMA ESP

Es un sistema de control de la estabilidad del coche,
que ayuda a mantener el control de la dirección en
caso de pérdida de adherencia de los neumáticos.
La acción del sistema ESP es muy útil cuando cambian
las condiciones de adherencia del firme de la carretera.
INTERVENCIÓN DEL SISTEMA
Se señala con el parpadeo del testigo áen el tablero
de instrumentos, para informar al conductor que el
coche está en condiciones críticas de estabilidad y de
adherencia.ACTIVACIÓN DEL SISTEMA
El sistema ESP se activa automáticamente al poner en
marcha el motor y no se puede desactivar.
SEÑALIZACIÓN DE ANOMALÍAS
En caso de una eventual anomalía, el sistema ESP se
desactiva automáticamente y se enciende el testigo á
con luz fija en el tablero de instrumentos, junto con el
mensaje que se visualiza en la pantalla multifunción
reconfigurable. En este caso, acuda lo antes posible a
un taller de la Red de Asistencia Fiat.
Las prestaciones del sistema ESP no deben inducir al conductor a correr riesgos inútiles
e injustificados. El estilo de conducción debe ser siempre adecuado al estado del firme
de la carretera, a la visibilidad y al tráfico. La responsabilidad de la seguridad en
carretera corresponde siempre y en todo momento al conductor del cocheADVERTENCIA

SISTEMA HILL HOLDER

Forma parte del sistema ESP facilitando el arranque en
subida. Se activa automáticamente en las siguientes
condiciones:
En subida: coche parado con pendiente superior al 2%,
motor en marcha, pedal del embrague y freno pisados
y cambio en punto muerto o con una marcha
acoplada distinta de la marcha atrás.
En bajada: coche parado con pendiente superior al 2%,
motor en marcha, pedal del embrague y freno pisados
y marcha atrás acoplada.
En fase de aceleración, la centralita del sistema ESP
mantiene la presión de frenado en las ruedas hasta
alcanzar el par motor necesario para el arranque, o de
todas formas, durante unos 2 segundos como máximo
permitiendo mover el pie derecho más fácilmente del
pedal del freno al acelerador. Una vez transcurridos estos 2 segundos y no se
arranca, el sistema se desactiva automáticamente
soltando gradualmente la presión de frenado. Durante
esta fase es posible oír el típico ruido de desenganche
mecánico de los frenos, que indica el inminente
movimiento del coche.
Señalización de anomalías
Una eventual anomalía del sistema se indica con el
testigo *encendido en el tablero de instrumentos,
(junto con el mensaje que se visualiza en la pantalla
multifunción reconfigurable).
ADVERTENCIA El sistema Hill Holder no es un freno
de estacionamiento, por lo tanto no abandone el
coche sin haber accionado el freno de mano, apagado
el motor y haber acoplado la primera marcha.
ADVERTENCIACuando utilice la rueda de repuesto (más pequeña que un rueda normal) el
sistema ESP continúa funcionando. De todas formas, tenga presente que la rueda
de repuesto, al tener dimensiones inferiores respecto a la normal, tiene menor
adherencia respecto a los demás neumáticos del coche.
ADVERTENCIAPara el correcto funcionamiento del sistema ESP es indispensable que los
neumáticos sean de la misma marca y del mismo tipo en todas las ruedas, que
estén en perfectas condiciones y sobre todo que tengan las dimensiones prescritas.

SISTEMA ASR
(sistema antiderrape de las ruedas)
Es parte del sistema ESP y controla la tracción del
coche que interviene automáticamente cada vez que
patina una o ambas ruedas motrices.
En función del derrape, se activan dos sistemas de
control:
❒si las dos ruedas motrices patinan, la función ASR
interviene reduciendo la potencia transmitida por el
motor;
❒en cambio, si es sólo una de las ruedas motrices la
que patina, la función ASR interviene
automáticamente frenando dicha rueda. La acción del sistema ASR resulta muy útil sobre todo
en los siguientes casos:
❒derrape en curva de la rueda interna, por efecto de
las variaciones dinámicas de la carga o de una
aceleración excesiva;
❒potencia excesiva transmitida a las ruedas, también
en relación con el estado del firme de la carretera;
❒aceleración en firmes resbaladizos, nevados o con
hielo;
❒pérdida de adherencia en un firme mojado
(aguaplaning)
TESTIGOS Y MENSAJES
AVERÍA SISTEMA ESP (si está previsto) -
SISTEMA NO DISPONIBLE
Al girar la llave a la posición MAR el testigo se
ilumina en el tablero de instrumentos, apagándose
después de algunos segundos.
Si el testigo permanece encendido, o se ilumina en el
tablero de instrumentos (en algunas versiones, junto
con el mensaje que se visualiza en la pantalla) y se
enciende el led del pulsador ASR, acuda a un taller
de la Red de Asistencia Fiat.
Si el testigo parpadea durante la marcha indica que
el sistema ESP está interviniendo.
