TO REDUCE MEMORISED SPEED
The speed memorised can be increased in two ways:
❒disengaging the device and then memorising the
new speed;
or
❒moving the stalk downwards (–) until reaching the
new speed which will be memorised automatically.
Each operation of the stalk will correspond to a slight
reduction in speed (about 1 km/h), while keeping the
stalk downwards continuously will correspond to a
continuous speed reduction.DEVICE DISENGAGEMENT
Turn the ring (A) to OFF or the ignition key to STOP.
The device is automatically deactivated also in one of
the following cases:
❒pressing the brake or clutch pedal.

USING THE GEARBOX
To engage the gears, press the clutch pedal fully and shift the gear lever
into one of the required positions (the diagram is shown on the knob).
IMPORTANT The car can only be put into reverse gear when it has
stopped moving completely. With the engine running, before engaging the
reverse, wait at least 2 seconds with the clutch pedal fully down to
prevent damage and grating of the gears.
To engage 6
thgear (where fitted), press the lever to the right to prevent
engaging 4thgear by mistake. A similar action is required to shift down
from 6thto 5th
To engage reverse (R) from neutral, lift the sliding ring (A) under the
knob and shift the lever to the right and back (only for petrol versions).
For Multijet versions, just shift lever to the right and back.

To change gears properly you must push the clutch pedal fully down. It is therefore
essential that there is nothing under the pedals: make sure mats are lying flat and do
not get in the way of the pedals.WARNING
Do not drive with your hand resting on the gear lever as the force exerted, even if slight, could lead
over time to premature wear on the gearbox internal components.

JUMP STARTING
If the battery is flat, it is possible to start the engine using an auxiliary
battery with the same capacity or a little higher than the flat one.
Proceed as follows:
❒Connect positive terminals (+) of the two batteries with a jump lead;
❒With a second lead, connect the negative terminal (–) of the auxiliary
battery and to an earthing point Eon the engine or the gearbox of
the car to be started;
❒Start the engine;
❒When the engine has been started, remove the leads reversing the
order above.
If after a few attempts the engine does not start, do not insist but contact
the nearest Fiat Dealership.
IMPORTANT Do not directly connect the two negative terminals: sparks
could ignite the flammable gas from the battery. If the other battery is
fitted in a vehicle, prevent accidental contacts between the metal parts of
the two vehicles.
Under no circumstances should a battery charger be used to start the engine: it could damage the
electronic systems and in particular the ignition and injection control units.
WARNINGDo not carry out this procedure if you lack experience; if it is not done correctly it
can cause very intense electrical discharges. In addition, the fluid contained in the
battery is poisonous and corrosive. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. You are also
advised not to put naked flames or lighted cigarettes near the battery and not to
cause sparks.

ANNUAL INSPECTION
SCHEDULE
For cars with an annual mileage of below 20,000 km
(for example about 15,000 km) the following yearly
inspection programme is provided:
❒check tyre conditions/wear and adjust pressure if
required (including the spare wheel);
❒check lighting system operation (headlights,
direction indicators, hazard lights, boot lights,
passenger compartment lights, warning lights, etc.);
❒check windscreen/washer
(nozzles/and blade position regulation)
❒check front disk brake pad conditions and wear;
❒sight inspect the conditions of: engine, gearbox,
transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust - fuel -
brakes), rubber parts (boots, sleeves, bushes, etc;
❒check for bonnet and boot lock cleanness, lever
cleanness and lubrication;
❒check battery charge;
❒visual check on various drive belt conditions;
❒top up fluid levels (engine coolant, brakes,
windscreen washer, battery, etc.);
❒change engine oil;
❒change engine oil filter;
❒replace pollen filter (where provided).
ADDITIONAL CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys, check and top
up if required:
❒engine coolant fluid level;
❒brake fluid level;
❒windscreen washer fluid level;
❒tyre pressure and conditions.
Every 3,000 km check and top up if required: engine
oil level.
You are recommended to use FL Selenia products,
designed and produced specifically for Fiat cars (see
table “Capacities” in section “Technical
specifications”).

MAINTENANCE
Upholstery of your car has been designed
to withstand wear deriving from common
use of the car. You are however
recommended to avoid strong and/or
continuous scratching with clothing
accessories such as metallic buckles, studs,
Velcro fastenings and the like, since these
items cause circumscribed stress of the
cover fabric that could lead to yarn
breaking, and damage the cover as a
consequence.
INTERIOR PLASTIC PARTS
For routine cleaning, wipe with a cloth with water and
neutral non-abrasive detergent. Remove grease or
persistent stains with appropriate products designed
to preserve the appearance of components.
IMPORTANT Never use spirit or petroleum to clean
the instrument panel or other plastic parts.STEERING WHEEL / GEARBOX LEVER
KNOB AND SEATS COATED WITH REAL
LEATHER
These components shall only be cleaned with water
and neutral soap. Never use spirit or alcohol-based
products.
Before using special products for cleaning interiors,
read carefully label instructions and indications to
make sure they are free from spirit and/or alcohol-
based substances.
If when cleaning the windscreen with special glass
products, some drops fall on the leather covering of
the steering wheel/gear lever knob remove them
immediately and then clean with water and neutral
soap.
IMPORTANT Take the utmost care when engaging
the steering lock to prevent scratching the leather
covering.
WARNINGDo not keep aerosol cans in the car: they might explode. Aerosol cans must never
be exposed to a temperature above 50°C. The temperature inside the car exposed
to the sun may go well beyond that figure.
