starter device is inserted. Function D

NOTE When driving, each time the
vehicle stops, the windscreen wipers
slow down: from fast to slow
continuous operation. As soon as the
vehicle moves again, the wipers return
to the initially selected speed. Any
movement of lever 1 fig. 80 takes
precedence and annuls any
automatism.

NOTE If there is fog or snow, the
automatic windscreen wipers are not
systematic and the driver has to
operate them.
IMPORTANT The C fig. 80 operation
mode is only accessible when the
starter device is inserted. Functions B
and D fig. 80 can only be accessed
with the engine started.
NOTE There is a service position for
replacing the wiper blades. With the
starter switch on and engine off, lower
the wiper lever 1 fig. 81 completely
(position D). The wiper blades will stop
in a free position (refer to the "Screen
wiper" paragraph in the "Maintenance
and care” chapter).
Windscreen washer
With starter device inserted, pull lever 1
fig. 82 towards the driver. Pulling the
lever briefly, activates a single wipe
together with the screen washer. Pulling
the lever for a longer time, activates
three consecutive wipes together with
the screen washer, and then a fourth
wipe after a few seconds.

IMPORTANT In the case of ice or snow,
clean the windscreen (including the
central section behind the interior rear
view mirror) and the rear window before
activating the wipers (risk of overheating
their electric motor). Check the status
of the wiper blades:
they have to stay clean: clean both
windscreen and rear window regularly
with soapy water;
do not use them when the
windscreen and rear window are dry;
detach them from the windscreen or
rear window if they have not been used
for a long time.
In any case, replace them as soon as
they are no longer efficient: about once
a year. Before using the rear wiper,
check that there is no item that could
interfere with the wiper trajectory.

NOTE If the wipers are operating or are
in automatic mode, when you put thegear in reverse, the rear window starts
working intermittently.
IMPORTANT In the case of ice or snow,

make sure the device is deactivated or the
key is on STOP.

compartment, make sure that the rear
window wiper is in the stopped position.

IMPORTANT
5)Never use the windscreen wipers to
remove layers of snow or ice from the
windscreen. In such conditions, the
windscreen wiper may be subjected to
excessive stress and the motor cut-out
switch, which prevents operation for a few
seconds, may intervene. If operation is not
subsequently restored, even after restarting
the vehicle, contact a Fiat Dealership.
6)Do not operate the windscreen wiper
with the blades lifted from the windscreen.
7)Make sure the device is switched off if
there is ice on the windscreen.
REFUELLING THE
VEHICLE
Useful tank capacity: Approx. 80 litres
Open the left front door to access the
flap A fig. 84.
While filling, hang the cap 2 fig. 84 on
the cap holder 1 on the flap A.
IMPORTANT After filling, check that the
cap and flap are closed.
Fuel quality
Use the best quality fuel, respecting the
regulations in force specific to each
country, and adhere strictly to the
indications on the label located on the
flap A.

Fuel filling
To refill the tank with the starter device
disengaged, insert the fuel nozzle and
push it as far as it will go before starting
fuelling (risk of splatters).
Hold the nozzle in this position the
entire time you are refilling.
If filling up, after the first automatic stop,
you can top up another two clicks to
keep the expansion volume inside the
tank empty. When refuelling, make sure
water does not get in. The flap A and
related surrounding parts must be kept
clean.

IMPORTANT When refuelling, the
engine must be stopped and not in
stand-by.

Turn the key to the "M" position and

Vehicles with electronic key
Insert the electronic key into the reader.
Press button 4 without touching the
pedals. Wait a few minutes before
setting off. This allows the fuel circuit to
engage. If the engine doesn't start
within a few seconds, repeat the
procedure.

replace it, make sure it is the same as the
original. Contact a Fiat Dealership. Do not
let the cap near a flame or heat source. Do

41)If there is a persistent odour of fuel,
proceed as follows: stop when traffic
conditions allow and disengage the starter
device; start the emergency lights and get
all the occupants out of the vehicle and
away from traffic; contact a Fiat Dealership.
42)Any intervention or modification of the
fuel supply system (electronic circuits,
wiring, fuel circuit, injector, guards, etc.) is
strictly prohibited because of the risks
involved (entrust this exclusively to qualified
Fiat Dealership personnel).
IMPORTANT
8)Do not mix petrol (unleaded or E85) with
diesel, even the smallest amount. Do not
use ethanol-based fuel if your vehicle is not
suitable. To prevent damage to the engine,
do not add additives to the fuel.

AdBlue (Urea)
ADDITIVE TANK
Make sure that you comply with the
laws of the country you're in.
You need to remember that if the owner
of the vehicle does not comply with the
laws in effect, there could be legal
consequences.
Operating principle
Using additives reduces exhaust
emissions, transforming polluting gases
into water vapour and nitrogen.
Filling
Usable tank capacity: Approx. 20 litres
Open the left front door to access the
flap A. Unscrew the cap 1.

IMPORTANT In vehicles equipped with
the Start&Stop function, fill with AdBlue
(Urea) additive when the engine isstopped. Always stop the engine (refer
to the information about starting and
stopping the engine).
AdBlue (Urea) additive quality
Only use additives that comply with the
ISO 22241 standard and in compliance
with the label on the fuel tank flap.
Average fuel consumption
About 2 l/1000 km depending on the
vehicle version and driving style.
Operating precautions
Always refer to the information on the
AdBlue (Urea) additive package.
Handle additives carefully. They can
damage clothing, shoes, chassis
components, etc.
If the additive overflows or
contaminates any painted surface,
quickly clean the area with a damp
cloth.
In extremely cold climates
The vehicle is provided with a heating
system for AdBlue (Urea) additive to
drive in very cold weather conditions.
Precautions while refilling the tank
The AdBlue (Urea) additive freezes at
temperatures lower than approximately
-10 °C. Do not attempt to fill or top up
in this case. However, we advise you to
top up the AdBlue (Urea) additive or
have a qualified professional do it when
the warning lighton the instrument
panel turns on.

come into contact with eyes or skin. If that
happens, rinse thoroughly with water. If
necessary, see a doctor.

9)No kind of intervention is authorised on
any part of the system. To avoid possible
damage, only Fiat Dealership qualified
personnel is authorised to intervene on the
system.
10)When the appropriate message
appears, fill the AdBlue (Urea) additive tank
(minimum 10 litres) and see the refilling
instructions. Danger that the vehicle will be
immobilised.
11)After filling the AdBlue (Urea) additive
tank, check that the cap and flap are
closed, start the engine and WAIT
10 seconds with the vehicle not moving
and engine started before starting off again.
If you do not do this, the tank filling will be
automatically detected only after a few
minutes' driving. The message to that
effect and/or warning lights will still appear
until the filling has not been detected by the
system.

IGNITION DEVICE

steering wheel, remove the key and
turn the wheel until the lock kicks in. To
unlock it, work both the key and the
steering wheel, without using force.
A: Accessories position. When the
starter device is disengaged,
accessories (radio, etc.) continue to
function.
M: Gear change position. With the
starter device inserted.
D: Drive position. If the engine does
not start, you need to withdraw the key
before activating the ignition again. As
soon as the engine starts, release the
key.
WARNING
45)If the ignition device has been
tampered with (e.g. an attempted theft),
have it checked by a Fiat Dealership before
driving again.
46)Always take the key with you when you
leave your vehicle to prevent someone
from accidentally operating the controls.
Remember to engage the parking brake.
Never leave children unattended in the
vehicle.
47)It is absolutely forbidden to carry out
any after-market operation involving
steering system or steering column
modifications (e.g. installation of anti-theft
device) that could adversely affect
performance, invalidate the warranty, cause
serious safety problems and also result in
the car not meeting type-approval
requirements.
48)Never extract the mechanical key while
the vehicle is moving. The steering wheel
will automatically lock as soon as it is
turned. This also applies to cases in which
the vehicle is towed.
49)Before exiting the vehicle, ALWAYS
engage the parking brake, steer the
wheels, engage the first gear if uphill and
the reverse if downhill. If the vehicle is
parked on a steep slope, chock the wheels
with wedges or stones. When leaving the
vehicle, always lock all the doors by
pressing the button on the key.
CLIMATE CONTROL
Advice for use
In some cases (air conditioning off, air
recycling on, ventilation speed nil or
insignificant, etc.), the vehicle windows
and windscreen can mist up. In case of
misting, use the MAX DEF function to
eliminate it, then, to prevent it from
re-forming, use the air conditioning in
automatic mode.
Maintenance
Please see the Scheduled Service Plan.

means greater fuel consumption (turn
off the system when you no longer
need it).

Consumption
Greater fuel consumption is normal
(especially in urban traffic) when the air
conditioning is in use. Some advice for
reducing fuel consumption to a
minimum and helping safeguard the
environment:
deactivate the system when it is not
needed;
while driving, keep the diffuser open
and the windows closed;
if the vehicle has been parked in high
temperatures or in the sun, aerate the
passenger compartment to let out the
hot air before leaving.

Vehicles with additional heater
Some vehicles are equipped with an
additional heater that heats the
passenger compartment more quickly.
This device functions only with the
engine on and at low temperatures.
When functioning, a bit of smoke
issuing from the right side of the
vehicle, coming from the heat exhaust
system, is normal.
Irregular operation
Generally speaking, if you notice any
operational irregularity, please see a Fiat
Dealer.
Limited effectiveness of defrosting,
de-misting or air conditioning can be
due to a clogged cabin filter cartridge.
Cold air is not generated. Check the
position of the controls and condition of
the fuses. Otherwise, turn the system
off.
Water beneath the vehicle
After prolonged use of air conditioning,
it is normal to find water under it due to
condensation.

Heated rear window demisting/
defrosting
With the engine running, press button 6
fig. 93 and the integrated warning light
will go on.
For vehicles that are equipped with
them, this function quickly defrosts or
demists the rearscreen and defrosts the
external mirrors.
Press button 6 again to deactivate the
this function.
If you do not, the defroster deactivates
automatically.

IMPORTANT
2)The system uses a coolant that is
compatible with the laws in force in the
countries where the vehicle is sold, R134a
or R1234yf (indicated on a specific plate in
the engine compartment). The use of other
coolants affects the efficiency and condition
of the system. Also the compressor
coolants used must be compatible with the
indicated coolant.
RADAR PARKING

Operating principle
The ultrasound sensors installed in the
rear bumpers (depending on the vehicle
version) "measure" the distance
between the vehicle and an obstacle.
If they detect an obstacle, the sensors
set off an acoustic warning, which
frequency increases when getting
closer to the obstacle, until it becomes
a single sound when the obstacle is
about 30 centimetres from the vehicle.
NOTE Make sure you check that the
ultrasound sensors are not covered
(with dirt, mud, snow, etc.).
NOTE Depending on the versions, the
display lets you see the vehicle's
surrounding area to complement the
acoustic warning signal.Operation
When you put the gear in reverse, most
of the objects located less that
1.20 meters from the rear of the vehicle
are detected, an acoustic warning
signal goes off and, depending on the
type of vehicle, display 1 fig. 99 lights
up.
Adjusting the assisted parking
acoustic volume
Depending on the vehicle type, you can
adjust a few parameters on the
multi-media display screen.
Temporary system deactivation
Press switch 2 fig. 100 to deactivate
the system.

Unlocking bonnet safety catch
To open it, push lever 2 fig. 110 to the
left: the bonnet will be lifted.Opening the bonnet
Lift the bonnet and accompany it.
Lifting is aided by side dampers.
Closing the bonnet
Make sure nothing has been left in the
engine compartment. Lower the bonnet
to approximately 30 centimetres from
the engine compartment then let it
drop. Make sure that the bonnet is
completely closed and not only
fastened by the locking device by trying
to open it. If it is not perfectly closed,
do not try to press the bonnet lid down
but open it and repeat the procedure.
WARNING
57)Before any intervention, the engine
must be turned off (and not in stand-by):
you must turn the engine off (refer to the
"Starting the engine" paragraph in the
“Starting and driving” chapter).
58)Do not lean on the bonnet: it could
close involuntarily.
59)When you intervene near the engine,
this last could be hot. Moreover, the
cooling fan could start up at any time. Risk
of injury.
60)When working in the engine
compartment, make sure that the
windscreen wiper is in the stopped
position. Risk of injury.
61)In case of a collision, even a light one
like against the cowling or bonnet, have it
checked at a Fiat Dealership as soon as
possible.62)Use both hands to lift the bonnet.
Before lifting, check that the windscreen
wiper arms are not raised from the
windscreen, that the vehicle is stationary
and that the parking brake is engaged.
63)For safety reasons, the bonnet must
always be properly closed while the car is
travelling. Therefore, make sure that the
bonnet is properly closed and that the lock
is engaged. If you discover that the bonnet
is not perfectly closed during travel, stop
immediately and close the bonnet in the
correct manner.
IMPORTANT
16)After every intervention in the engine
compartment, make sure you have not left
anything (rags, tools, etc.); basically these
