WARNING
1)Never leave the vehicle unguarded with
the electronic key and a child, a
handicapped person or an animal inside,
even for a short time. This could result in
your own safety or that of others who
could start the engine, setting in motion
equipment such as the electric windows or
even locking the doors. Moreover, in hot
and/or sunny weather, the vehicle's interior
temperature will increase rapidly. Risk of
death or serious injury.
2)Never use the centralised door closing if
someone is still in the vehicle.
IMPORTANT
1)Used batteries may be harmful to the
environment if not disposed of correctly.
They must be disposed of as specified by
law in the special containers or taken to a
Fiat Dealership, which will take care of their
disposal.

Opening from the outside
Vehicles with remote control: unlock
the vehicle using the remote control and
pull the handle 1 fig. 29.
Vehicle with electronic key:press

Closing from outside
Push the door. Lock it using the remote
control or, if the vehicle has one, press
button 2 fig. 14 on the electronic key.

Forgotten lights on acoustic alarm
When the door opens, an acoustic
warning indicates that the lights are still
on even though the engine starter
device is disengaged.
Forgotten electronic key warning
(for versions/markets where provided):
when you open the driver's side door, if
the electronic key is still in the reader, a
message will appear on the instrument
panel together with an acoustic
warning.
Forgotten key warning(for
versions/markets where provided):
when you open the diver's side door, an
acoustic warning goes off to indicate
that the key is still in the ignition

KNOWING YOUR VEHICLE

The warning light built into the switch
will turn on to remind the diver that the
system is deactivated.
Press it again and the system will be
reactivated and the warning light will go
off.
Depending on the vehicle type, you can
deactivate the function from the
multi-media display screen.
Forced system deactivation
You can deactivate the system
definitively by pressing button 2 for a
long time.
The integrated warning light in the
switch stays on permanently.
The deactivated system can be
reactivated by pressing the button
again for a long time.Irregular operation
Depending on the versions, when the
system detects irregular operation, an
appropriate message will appear on the
instrument panel along with the alarm
warning light
and an acoustic
signal going off every 5 seconds.

WARNING
52)This function is an auxiliary driving aid
with acoustic signals to indicate that you
are approaching an obstacle while
manoeuvring. However, this does exempt
the driver from normal driving alertness nor
from liability in the event of an accident
while manoeuvring. The driver must always
be ready to face any unexpected situations
that could occur when driving. Before
starting a manoeuvre, specifically check for
any moving obstacles (such as a child,
animal, bicycle, stone, pole, etc.) or
obstacles in the blind spot that are too
small to be detected.
53)Parking and other potentially
dangerous manoeuvres are, however,
always the driver’s responsibility. When
performing these operations, always make
sure that there are no other people
(especially children) or animals on the route
you want to take. The parking sensors are
an aid for the driver, but the driver must
never allow their attention to lapse during
potentially dangerous manoeuvres, even
those executed at low speeds.
IMPORTANT
12)If the vehicle collides with something
when in reverse (for example against a
stake, a curbstone or any other street
furniture) you could damage the vehicle (for
example, bend an axle). To prevent any risk
of accident, have the vehicle checked at a
Fiat Dealership.
13)The sensors must be clean of mud,
dirt, snow or ice in order for the system to
operate correctly. Be careful not to scratch
or damage the sensors while cleaning
them. Avoid using dry, rough or hard
cloths. The sensors should be washed
using clean water with the addition of car
shampoo if necessary. When using special
washing equipment such as high pressure
jets or steam cleaning, clean the sensors
very quickly keeping the jet more than
10 cm away.
14)Only have the bumpers repainted or
any retouches to the paintwork in the area
of the sensors carried out by a Fiat
Dealership. Incorrect paint application
could affect the Radar parking operation.

PARTICULARITIES
17)
Engine speed
Diesel engines are equipped with an
injection system that does not let the
engine exceed a certain number of
revs, no matter what gear is engaged.
If you see the message "Anti-pollution
control" with the warning light
and
the alarm light, contact a Fiat
Dealership immediately.
While driving, depending on the fuel
type used, in exceptional cases the
vehicle might emit white smoke.
This is due to the automatic
regeneration of the anti-particulate filter
and has no consequences on the
vehicle's performance.
Complete lack of fuel
When refuelling after completely using
up all fuel, you need to restore the fuel
circuit: refer to the "Refuelling the
vehicle" paragraph before restarting the
engine.Winter precautions
To prevent any ice-related
inconvenience:
make sure that the battery is always
charged,
make sure not to leave too little
diesel in the tank, so it doesn't form
water vapour condensation that
accumulates on the bottom of the tank.
IMPORTANT
17)Modifications or repairs to the supply
system that are not carried out correctly or
do not take the system technical
specifications into account can cause
malfunctions leading to the risk of fire.

Warning light What it means
ALARM WARNING LIGHT
When the starter device is brought to MAR, the warning light switches on, but it should switch off as soon as the
engine is started. If it turns on together with other warning lights/messages on the instrument panel, you need to
drive carefully to the Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
Lack of respect for this rule puts the vehicle at risk of being damaged.
AdBlue (Urea) ADDITIVE LEVEL AND EXHAUST GAS REDUCTION SYSTEM OPERATION FAULTS
See the information in the "AdBlue (Urea) additive tank" paragraph.
INJECTION / EOBD SYSTEM FAILURE
For vehicles thus equipped, it turns on when you start the engine, this it goes off:
if it stays on, contact a Fiat Dealership;
if it flashes, you need to reduce the engine running until the flashing stops. Contact a Fiat
Dealership.
Refer to the “Protecting the environment” paragraph in the “Knowing your vehicle” chapter.
DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)/ TRACTION CONTROL FAILURE
It goes on when the starter device is inserted and goes off after a few seconds.
This light turns on in various circumstances: refer to the "Active safety systems” paragraph in the “Safety” chapter.
ABS FAILURE
It goes on when the starter device is inserted and goes off after a few seconds. If it goes on while driving, it means
there is a malfunction in the ABS system. In this case the braking system maintains its efficiency unaltered but
without the advantage of the ABS system. Consult a Fiat Dealership.
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT
When the starter device is inserted, it goes on with a blue light.
If it turns red, you need to stop the car and let the motor idle for one or two minutes.
The temperature should go down and the light turns blue. Otherwise, stop the engine. Let it cool before checking
the coolant liquid temperature.

The warning lights described below are together with an acoustic signal.

Depending on the vehicle version, it
includes the following functions:
distance travelled;
travel parameters;
information messages;

reset to zero.
Resetting travel parameters
When one of the trip parameters is
selected on the display, press button
9 or 10 fig. 168 until the display is reset.
Interpreting some of the displayed
values after resetting
The further you travel after the last
reset, the more accurate and significant
the average fuel consumption,
autonomy and average speed become.
During the first kilometers travelled after
resetting, you will notice that the
autonomy increases as you travel. This
is because the system takes the
average fuel consumption since the last
reset into account. The average fuel
consumption can decrease when:
the vehicle is no longer accelerating;
the engine reaches operating
temperature (reset: cold engine);
going from urban to extra-urban
driving.
Automatic travel parameter reset
Reset is automatic when one of the
parameter's capacities is exceeded.

ON-BOARD: information messages
These can help vehicle ignition, provide information on a selection or on driving conditions.
ON-BOARD COMPUTER: anomaly messages
They appear along with the warning light
.When these messages appear, drive carefully to the Fiat
Dealership. Failure to follow this instruction could damage the vehicle.
They are deleted when you press the viewing selection button, or automatically after a few seconds. However, they are stored
in the on-board log. The warning light
stays on.
ON-BOARD COMPUTER: alarm messages
They appear along with the STOP warning light to make you stop as soon as traffic conditions allow, for your own
safety. Stop the engine and do not turn it back on. Contact a Fiat Dealership.

PBA (Panic Brake
Assist) SYSTEM
This is a complementary system to the
ABS that lets you reduce the vehicle's
braking distance.
Operating principle
The system detects an emergency
braking situation. In such cases, the
power brake immediately creates the
maximum braking, causing the ABS
system to also intervene.
ABS intervention lasts until the brake
pedal is released.
Hazard warning lights on
Depending on the versions, these lights
can go on when you slow down
abruptly.
Anticipated braking
Depending on the versions, when you
quickly release the accelerator, the
system anticipates braking so as to
diminish the braking distance.
When using Cruise Control:
if you are using the accelerator pedal,
with you release it, the system can
activate;
if you are not using the accelerator
pedal, the system will not activate.Irregular operation
When the system detects an
operational irregularity, the message to
that effect will appear on the instrument
panel with the alarm light
going
on.

TSA (Trailer Stability
Assist) DRIVING
ASSISTANCE WITH A
TRAILER
This system helps you maintain control
of the vehicle in case you are using a
trailer. It detects the swinging motion of
the trailer in certain driving conditions.
Operating conditions
The two system must be authorised
by the Fiat Dealership;
the wiring has to be approved by a
Fiat Dealership;
the trailer has to be connected to the
vehicle.
Operating principle
The function stabilises the vehicle by:
asymmetrical front wheel braking to
reduce swinging caused by the trailer;
four wheel braking and a limitation in
engine torque to reduce the vehicle
speed until the swinging stops.
The warning light
flashes on the
instrument panel to inform you of the
situation.
TRACTION PLUS (GRIP
CONTROL)

Where the vehicle is provided with one,
road grip check ensures easier control
of the vehicle in conditions where grip is
reduced (crumbly terrain).
"Road" mode
When the vehicle is started, the
appropriate message appears on the
display screen. The indicator light
on the instrument panel is off. This

normal road conditions (dry, wet
roadbed, light snow, etc.).
The "Road" mode uses the traction
control system functions.
