IMPORTANT
2)The system uses a coolant that is
compatible with the laws in force in the
countries where the vehicle is sold, R134a
or R1234yf (indicated on a specific plate in
the engine compartment). The use of other
coolants affects the efficiency and condition
of the system. Also the compressor
coolants used must be compatible with the
indicated coolant.
RADAR PARKING
53) 52)
12) 13) 14)
Operating principle
The ultrasound sensors installed in the
rear bumpers (depending on the vehicle
version) "measure" the distance
between the vehicle and an obstacle.
If they detect an obstacle, the sensors
set off an acoustic warning, which
frequency increases when getting
closer to the obstacle, until it becomes
a single sound when the obstacle is
about 30 centimetres from the vehicle.
NOTE Make sure you check that the
ultrasound sensors are not covered
(with dirt, mud, snow, etc.).
NOTE Depending on the versions, the
display lets you see the vehicle's
surrounding area to complement the
acoustic warning signal.Operation
When you put the gear in reverse, most
of the objects located less that
1.20 meters from the rear of the vehicle
are detected, an acoustic warning
signal goes off and, depending on the
type of vehicle, display 1 fig. 99 lights
up.
Adjusting the assisted parking

Depending on the vehicle type, you can
adjust a few parameters on the
multi-media display screen.

The warning light built into the switch
will turn on to remind the diver that the
system is deactivated.
Press it again and the system will be
reactivated and the warning light will go
off.
Depending on the vehicle type, you can
deactivate the function from the
multi-media display screen.
Forced system deactivation
You can deactivate the system
definitively by pressing button 2 for a
long time.
The integrated warning light in the
switch stays on permanently.
The deactivated system can be
reactivated by pressing the button
again for a long time.Irregular operation
Depending on the versions, when the
system detects irregular operation, an
appropriate message will appear on the
instrument panel along with the alarm
warning light
and an acoustic
signal going off every 5 seconds.
Contact a Fiat Dealership.
WARNING
52)This function is an auxiliary driving aid
with acoustic signals to indicate that you
are approaching an obstacle while
manoeuvring. However, this does exempt
the driver from normal driving alertness nor
from liability in the event of an accident
while manoeuvring. The driver must always
be ready to face any unexpected situations
that could occur when driving. Before
starting a manoeuvre, specifically check for
any moving obstacles (such as a child,
animal, bicycle, stone, pole, etc.) or
obstacles in the blind spot that are too
small to be detected.
53)Parking and other potentially
dangerous manoeuvres are, however,
always the driver’s responsibility. When
performing these operations, always make
sure that there are no other people
(especially children) or animals on the route
you want to take. The parking sensors are
an aid for the driver, but the driver must
never allow their attention to lapse during
potentially dangerous manoeuvres, even
those executed at low speeds.
IMPORTANT
12)If the vehicle collides with something
when in reverse (for example against a
stake, a curbstone or any other street
furniture) you could damage the vehicle (for
example, bend an axle). To prevent any risk
of accident, have the vehicle checked at a
Fiat Dealership.
13)The sensors must be clean of mud,
dirt, snow or ice in order for the system to
operate correctly. Be careful not to scratch
or damage the sensors while cleaning
them. Avoid using dry, rough or hard
cloths. The sensors should be washed
using clean water with the addition of car
shampoo if necessary. When using special
washing equipment such as high pressure
jets or steam cleaning, clean the sensors
very quickly keeping the jet more than
10 cm away.
14)Only have the bumpers repainted or
any retouches to the paintwork in the area
of the sensors carried out by a Fiat
Dealership. Incorrect paint application
could affect the Radar parking operation.

Do not consider this information if it is
superimposed onto a vertical object or
an object on the ground. The items that
appear on the edge of the screen can
be distorted. If the light is too bright
(snow, vehicle is in sunshine) the video
camera's vision can be disrupted.
When the rear doors are open or not
closed properly, the dedicated message
appears and, depending on the vehicle,
the video camera image disappears.
WARNING
54)Parking and other potentially
dangerous manoeuvres are, however,
always the driver’s responsibility. While
carrying out these manoeuvres, always
make sure that no people (especially
children) or animals are in the area
concerned. The camera is an aid for the
driver, but the driver must never allow
his/her attention to lapse during potentially
dangerous manoeuvres, even those
executed at low speeds. Always keep a
slow speed, so as to promptly brake in the
case of obstacles.
IMPORTANT
15)It is vital, for correct operation, that the
camera is always kept clean and free from
any mud, dirt, snow or ice. Be careful not
to scratch or damage the camera while
cleaning it. Avoid using dry, rough or hard
cloths. The camera must be washed using
clean water, with the addition of car
shampoo if necessary. In washing stations
which use steam or high-pressure jets,
clean the camera quickly, keeping the
nozzle more than 10 cm away from the
sensors. Also, do not apply stickers to the
camera.

PROTECTING THE
ENVIRONMENT
Temperature of the exhaust gases
The system controlling the exhaust lets
you identify the malfunctions of the
vehicle's anti-pollution device. These
faults can cause an excess in polluting
emissions and cause mechanical
damage.
This warning light on the instrument
panel indicates any system function
failure:
If it stays on, contact a Fiat
Dealership as soon as possible;
If it flashes, you need to reduce the
engine running until the flashing stops.
Contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as
possible.
Refer to the information in the "AdBblue
(Urea) additive tank" paragraph in the
"Knowing your vehicle" chapter.
The vehicle was designed with
environmental friendliness in mind for its
entire life cycle: from manufacture to
use up to the end of its life cycle.Manufacture
The vehicle's manufacture has been
carried out at an industrial factory that
applies advanced procedures aimed at
environmental impact reduction with
respect to the inhabitants and nature in
the surrounding areas (reduction of
water and power consumption,
atmospheric and water emissions,
disposal and evaluation of waste).
Emissions
While it is being used, the vehicle was
designed to emit a lower quantity of
greenhouse gasses (CO
2) and therefore
lower consumption (ex.: 170 g/km
amounts to 6.4 l/100 km for a Diesel
vehicle).
Moreover, the cars are equipped with
anti-pollution systems such as the
catalytic exhaust, oxygen sensor, etc.
For some vehicles, this system is
rounded out with an anti-particulate
filter that allows a reduction in particle
emissions.
Used and replaced parts on sale during
regular servicing (battery, oil filter, air
filter, batteries, etc.) and oil tanks (both
empty and full of used oil) must be
delivered to specialised waste disposal
consortiums.
To hand the vehicle over at the end of
its life without extra cost, contact one of
our dealerships if you are purchasing
another vehicle or an FCA-authorised
collection and scrapping centre. These centres have been carefully
chosen to offer high quality service for
the collection, treatment and recycling
of vehicles at their end of life, respecting
the surrounding environment.
Recyclability
The vehicle is 85% recyclable and 95%
recoverable.
To achieve these aims, several of the
vehicle's parts have been designed so
they can be recycled. The structure and
materials have been especially studied
to facilitate dismantling of these
components and their re-treatment in
specific chains.
In order to preserve raw material
resources, the vehicle incorporates
several parts in recycled plastic or
renewable materials (plant or animal like
cotton or wool).

ACTIVE SAFETY
SYSTEMS
Depending on the version, they can
consist of:
by the anti-lock braking system
(ABS);
electronic stability control (ESC) with
understeering and traction control
system;
driving with a trailer assistance;
emergency brake assistance;
road grip control;
assisted departure on inclines.
ABS (Anti-lock Braking
System)
132) 133) 134) 135)
In case of abrupt braking, the ABS
avoids wheel locking, so it manages the
braking distance and maintains vehicle
control.
In these conditions you can carry out
manoeuvres while braking fully.
Moreover, this system optimises the
braking distance, especially on slippery
surfaces (wet roadbed, etc.).
Every time you activate this device, you
know because the brake pedal shakes.
The ABS never improves the "physical"
performance associated with the
wheel's road grip. The rules of the road
must be respected (safety distance
between vehicles, etc.).IMPORTANT In an emergency, we
advise you to apply strong, continuous
pressure to the brake pedal. You do not
need to pump it. The ABS will modulate
the force applied to the brakes.
Irregular operation:
Depending on the vehicle,and
lit on the instrument panel along
with dedicated messages mean: the
ABS, ESC and emergency power
steering have been deactivated.
Braking is always guaranteed;
andSTOPlit on the
instrument panel, along with the
dedicated message on the display,
indicates that there is a fault in the
brake system.
In both cases, contact a Fiat
Dealership.
ESC (Electronic Stability
Control) SYSTEM
136) 137)
Electronic stability control ESC
This system helps maintain control of
the vehicle in "critical" driving conditions
(avoiding an obstacle, loss of grip in a
curve, etc.).
Operating principle
A sensor on the steering wheel
recognises the driving trajectory that the
driver set.
Other sensors installed in the vehicle
measure the real trajectory. The system compares the driver's
adherence to the effective trajectory,
correcting it if necessary, braking a few
wheels and/or reducing engine power if
the system was activated and its
warning light
flashes on the
instrument panel.
Understeering control
This system optimises the ESC action
in case of noticeable understeer (loss of
front grip).
Traction Control System
This system limits the drive wheels
slipping and helps control the vehicle
when starting out, accelerating or
decelerating.
Operating principle
Thanks to the sensor in the wheels, the
system measures and compares the
drive wheel rotation speed, detecting
immediately loss of grip. If a wheel
starts sliding, the system intervenes by
braking to re-stabilise the drive that is
compatible with the level of road grip.
The system also acts on the engine
speed, adapting it to wheel road grip,
independently of the driver's use of the
accelerator.
Irregular operation
When the system detects an
operational irregularity, the dedicated
message appears on the display and
the warning lights
andturn
on.

TPMS – Tyre
Pressure
Monitoring System
(For versions/markets where provided)
Tyre pressure loss warning
This system warns the driver of any
pressure loss in one or more of the
tyres.
Operating principle
Each wheel (except the spare) has a
built-in sensor in the inflation valve that
measures tyre pressure at regular
intervals while driving. Warning light 1
fig. 202 stays on to warn the driver in
case of tyre pressure loss (deflated tyre,
puncture, etc.).Re-initialising the tyre pressure
reference value
This operation must be done:when the tyre reference pressure has
to be changed so it can be adapted to
use conditions (empty, with a load,
highway driving, etc.);
after tyre rotation ( however, this
practice is not advised);
after replacing a tyre.
This operation must always be done
after a cold tyre inflation pressure of all
the tyres.
Inflation pressure has to correspond to
the vehicle's current use (empty, with a
load, highway driving, etc.).
Re-initialisation procedure
With the engine running and the vehicle
stationary.
briefly press on button 3 or 4
fig. 203 to select the "TYRE
PRESSURE SET < LONG PRESS >"
function on display panel 2;
keep button 3 or 4 pressed (for
about 3 seconds) to start initialisation.
The appropriate message indicates that
the request to restore the tyre pressure
reference values is being processed.
A few minutes of driving is required to
complete the initialisation.NOTE The tyre pressure reference value
must not be less than that advised and
indicated on the the driver's door pillar.
Display
The display 2 fig. 203 on the instrument
panel indicates any inflation faults
(deflated tyre, puncture, etc.).
Warning light 1 fig. 202 stays on
permanently along with the message to
that effect. This indicates that at least
one tyre is deflated.
If necessary, check and adjust the
pressure of the four tyres when cold.
The warning light goes off after driving
for a few minutes.
IMPORTANT Unexpected loss of tyre
pressure (blowout, etc.) might not be
detected by the system.
The warning light turns on fixed
together with a dedicated message and
an acoustic signal.

This message is accompanied by the
STOPwarning light.
This means that at least one of the tyres
is punctured or is very deflated.
Replace it or contact a Fiat Dealership if
it is punctured. Re-inflate the tyre if it is
deflated.
Warning light 1 fig. 202 flashes for a few
seconds before remaining permanent
along with the message to that effect.
This message is accompanied by the
light.
They indicate that one of the tyres has
no sensors (for example the spare). In
all other cases, contact a Fiat
Dealership.
New regulations concerning tyre
pressure
The tyre pressure must be checked
when cold(see the label located on
the driver's door pillar). If tyre pressure
checking cannot be donecold,
increase the pressure 0.2-0.3 bar
(3 PSI).
Never deflate a hot tyre.
Vehicle equipped with TPMS
In the event of a flat tyre (puncture,
insufficient inflation, etc.), the
warning light on the instrument
panel will turn on. Refer to the “TPMS –
TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM” paragraph.Spare wheel
If the vehicle has one, the spare tyre
has no sensors. When this is mounted
on the vehicle, warning light 1
fig. 202 flashes for a few seconds
before staying on together with the
warning light, while a dedicated
message is displayed on the instrument
panel.
Spray can to repair the tyres and
inflation kit
According to the valve specifics, only
use equipment approved by a Fiat
Dealership. Please see the paragraph
"Tyre kit" in the "Emergency" chapter.
IMPORTANT This function provides an
additional aid to the driver; however, it
cannot replace him. It does not exempt
you from ordinary driving safety or from
responsibility in case of an accident.
Check tyre pressure, including the
spare tyre, once a month.
IMPORTANT For the safety of the driver
and anyone else on board, you must
stop as soon as traffic conditions allow
when theSTOPwarning light turns on.
