Airbags
WARNING
Do not modify the front of thevehicle in any way as this canadversely affect airbag deployment.
Note:A loud bang will be heardwhen an airbag deploys and it isnormal to see a cloud of harmlesspowdery residue.
The airbag system comprises thefollowing:
•single-stage inflatable nylon bags(airbags) with gas generators
•side airbags
•curtain airbags
•seat belt pretensioners
•a seat belt reminder
•crash sensors.
•a warning lamp in the instrumentpanel.
•an airbag deactivation switch
•an airbag deactivation indicator inthe instrument panel
•an electronic control anddiagnostic unit.

WARNING
If you need to fit a child restrainton a seat protected by anoperational airbag in front of it, havea passenger airbag deactivationswitch fitted. Ask your dealer forfurther information.
Note:The key switch is located inthe glove compartment with anairbag deactivation lamp in theinstrument panel.
If the airbag warning lamp illuminatesor flashes when you are driving, thisindicates a malfunction. SeeWarning lamps and indicators(page 90). Remove the child restraintand have the system checkedimmediately.
Disabling the passengerairbag

Turn the switch to position A.
When you switch the ignition on,check that the passenger airbagdeactivation warning lamp illuminates.
Enabling the passengerairbag
WARNING
Make sure that the passengerairbag is enabled when you arenot using a child restraint on the frontpassenger seat.
Turn the switch to position B.

The system controls thetemperature, amount and distributionof the air flow automatically andadjusts them according to the drivingand weather conditions. Pressing theAUTO button once switches on theauto mode.
The system in your vehicle isdual-zone automatic climate control.When the system is in mono mode,all the temperature zones are linkedto the driver's zone. When you switchmono mode off, the dual-zonesystem allows you to set differenttemperatures for the driver's andfront passenger's side.
Note:Avoid adjusting the settingswhen the vehicle interior is extremelyhot or cold. The automatic climatecontrol adjusts to the currentcircumstances automatically. For thesystem to function properly, the sideand centre vents should be fullyopen.
Note:The sunload sensor is locatedon top of the instrument panel. Donot cover the sensor with anyobjects.
Note:At low outside temperatures,when the system is in auto mode, theair stream will be directed to thewindscreen and the side windows aslong as the engine is cold.
Note:A description of the FordDVD-Navigation System incombination with the automaticclimate control is provided in theseparate manual.

WARNING
Heating with the engine off willdrain the battery.
The heated front seats are operatedby rotary controls in the instrumentpanel.
The maximum temperature isreached after five or six minutes. It isregulated thermostatically.
The seat heating will operate onlywhen the ignition is in position II.

WARNING
The parking aid does not relieveyou of your responsibility todrive with due care and attention.
CAUTIONS
The sensors may not detectobjects in heavy rain or otherconditions that cause disruptivereflections.
The sensors may not detectobjects with surfaces that absorbultrasonic waves.
The sensors may not detectobjects that are close to thevehicle (approximately 30centimetres [11 inches] to the rearand above or below the sensors).
If you use a high pressure sprayto wash your vehicle, only spraythe sensors briefly from a distancenot less than 20 centimetres (8inches).
Note:The parking aid may emit falsetones if it detects a signal using thesame frequency as the sensors or ifthe vehicle is fully laden.
Note:The outer sensors may detectthe side walls of a garage. If thedistance between the outer sensorand the side wall remains constantfor three seconds, the tone willswitch off. As you continue, the innersensors will detect rearward objects.
USING THE PARKING AID
Note:Keep the sensors free fromdirt, ice and snow. Do not clean withsharp objects.
Switching the parking aidon and off
Note:The parking aid switches offautomatically when you start theengine or when you exceed 16 km/h(10 mph).
Note:Vehicles fitted with a trailertow module not approved by us maynot correctly detect obstacles.
Note:On vehicles fitted with a towball arm, the rear sensors aredeactivated automatically when anytrailer lamps (or lighting boards) areconnected to the 13-pin socket via atrailer tow module we haveapproved. On vehicles fitted with atrailer tow module not approved byus, you have to switch the parkingaid off using the switch.
Note:The front and rear sensors arealways activated or deactivatedtogether.
Note:On vehicles fitted withautomatic transmission, the parkingaid will not operate in position P.
The parking aid is per default off. Toswitch the parking aid on, press theswitch in the instrument panel orselect reverse gear.
The light in the switch illuminateswhen the parking aid is activated.
To turn it off, press the switch again.

This is located behind the glovecompartment in the instrument panel.
To gain access to the fuse box:
•Remove the screws in theinstrument panel trim underneaththe glove compartment and letthe trim panel drop down.
•Loosen the quick fix screws onthe fuse box.
•Let the fuse box down and pull ittowards you.
•Hang the fuse box in the frontfixture of the bracket.
Reinstall in the reverse order.
CHANGING A FUSE
WARNINGS
Do not modify the electricalsystem of your vehicle in anyway. Have repairs to the electricalsystem and the replacement ofrelays and high current fuses carriedout by properly trained technicians.
WARNINGS
Switch the ignition and allelectrical equipment off beforetouching or attempting to change afuse.
CAUTION
Fit a replacement fuse with thesame rating as the one you haveremoved.
Note:You can identify a blown fuseby a break in the filament.
Note:All fuses, except high currentfuses are a push fit.
Note:A fuse puller is located in thelid of the auxiliary fuse box.

1.Open the lid of the tyre repair kit.
2.Peel off the label I showing themaximum permissible speed of80 km/h (50 mph) from the casingand attach it to the instrumentpanel in the driver’s field of view.Make sure the label does notobscure anything important.
3.Take the hose C and the powerplug with cable G out of the kit.
4.Unscrew the orange cap D andthe bottle lid J.
5.Screw the sealant bottle Kclockwise into the bottle holder Efully tight.
6.Remove the valve cap from thedamaged tyre.
7.Detach the protective cap A fromthe hose C and screw the hoseC firmly onto the valve of thedamaged tyre.
8.Make sure that the compressorswitch H is in position 0.
9.Insert the power plug G into thecigar lighter socket or auxiliarypower socket. See Cigarlighter (page 134). See Auxiliarypower sockets (page 134).
10.Start the engine.
11.Move the compressor switch Hto position 1.
12.Inflate the tyre for no longer thanseven minutes to an inflationpressure of minimum 1.8 bar(26 psi) and a maximum of3.5 bar (51 psi). Move thecompressor switch H to position0 and check the current tyrepressure with pressure gaugeF.
13.Remove the power plug G fromthe cigar lighter socket orauxiliary power socket.
14.Quickly unscrew the hose Cfrom the tyre valve and replacethe protective cap A. Fasten thevalve cap again.
15.Leave the sealant bottle K in thebottle holder E.
16.Make sure the kit, the bottle lidand the orange cap are storedsafely, but still easily accessiblein the vehicle. The kit will berequired again when you checkthe tyre pressure.
