Curtain air bags
Moulded badges in the A- andB-piller trims indicate that curtain airbags are fitted. The curtain airbagsare fitted over the front and rear sidewindows inside the roof lining. In caseof a severe lateral collision, the air bagon the side affected by the collisionwill be inflated.
The curtain air bags are not activatedupon minor lateral collisions nor uponfront or rear impacts.
Seat belts
WARNINGS
Use seat belts at all times.
Never use a seat belt for morethan one person.
Avoid wearing thick clothing.
WARNINGS
The seat belts should fit tightlyaround the body.
Seat belt pretensioner
WARNING
The belt pretensioners must notbe removed. If thepretensioners are deployed duringan accident, they must be replaced.Have the pretensioners serviced anddisposed of by specially trainedpersonnel only.
The restraint system, with beltpretensioners in the front seats, helpsto reduce the risk of serious injury ina major frontal impact. During aserious crash the seat belts arepretensioned to help reduce slack inthe belt. The safety belt pretensioneris a device which removes excesswebbing from the safety belt system.When the safety belt pretensionerdeploys, webbing from the lap andshoulder belt is tightened.

Removing the headrestraint
Press the locking buttons andremove the head restraint.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine To return the seats to the forwardposition, pull the lever and slide theseats forwards. After releasing thelever, rock the seats to ensure thatthe catch is securely engaged.
To return the centre seat to itsoriginal position, pull the lever on theunderside of the seat. Fold the centreseat forwards and push it back downfully until it engages.
Fold the front of the luggage coverforwards.
WARNING
Do not slide the outboard seatsrearwards into the comfortposition if the centre seat is foldedforwards. There is a risk of injury inthe event of an accident or if thecentre seat falls back down.
Folding the seatbacksforward
WARNING
Do not fold the seatbacksforward when the seats are inthe comfort position (slid rearwards).This could result in damage to theseats or panel trim. Slide the seatsfully forwards.
All three seatbacks can be foldedforward independently of oneanother.
Remove the seat belts from the beltguides on the outboard seatbacks.The seat belt tongues must beinserted into the retaining slots. Theretaining slot for the centre seat beltis located in the roof. SeeFastening the seat belts (page31).
Lower the outboard head restraintsand raise the centre head restraint.

Slide the supports into the larger holeon the base of the seats and detachthem. Fold the outboard seatsupports down and attach them tothe retainers on the floor. Detach thecentre seat support from the floorand secure it in its retainer on thefloor under the right-hand seat.

WARNING
Make sure the seat is securelylocked by pushing forward andrearward on the top of the seatbackor by trying to pull up the edge of thecushion.
Fold the seats back down until theyengage.
Raise the seatbacks ensuring thatthey engage in their latches.
Make sure the seatbelts will functionproperly and are positioned in frontof the seatback.
The rear seatbelts should be placedin the belt guides on the outboardseatbacks.
Removing the seats
To increase the space in the luggagecompartment, the rear seats can beremoved completely.
Fold the seats forward. See Foldingthe seats forward.
Fold up the seat to be removed toan angle of approximately 45degrees to the floor.
With the seat in this position, pushdown both levers marked in red torotate the locking claws to the openposition.
WARNING
The rear seats are heavy. Toavoid injury, take care whenlifting the seats.

Lift the seats out.
Installing the seats
WARNINGS
Make sure that no objects arelocated in the storagecompartments under the rear seatswhich could get damaged when theseats are folded down.
To avoid injury, take care whenfolding the seats down.
Make sure that the locking holeon the floor is clear of sand, rockor any objects which may preventthe seat from locking.
Ensure that both locking claws arerotated to the open position.
To reinstall the seats, lower the seatonto the retaining bar on the floor. Inorder to do so, the seat should beheld at an angle of approximately 45degrees to the floor.
Before folding the seats back down,pull the lower bar on the rear of theseat and check that the latches arein the delatched (extended) position.
Push the seat back down until itengages.
