GENERAL INFORMATION
Have your vehicle serviced regularly to helpmaintain its roadworthiness and resalevalue. There is a large network ofauthorized dealers that are there to helpyou with their professional servicingexpertise. If your vehicle requires professional service,an authorized dealer can provide thenecessary parts and service. Check yourwarranty information to find out whichparts and services are covered.
Use only recommended fuels, lubricants,fluids and service parts conforming tospecifications. Motorcraft® parts aredesigned and built to provide the bestperformance in your vehicle.
Precautions
•Do not work on a hot engine.
•Make sure that nothing gets caught inmoving parts.
•Do not work on a vehicle with theengine running in an enclosed space,unless you are sure you have enoughventilation.
•Keep all open flames and other burningmaterial (such as cigarettes) awayfrom the battery and all fuel relatedparts.
Working with the Engine Off
1.Set the parking brake and shift to park(P).
2. Switch off the engine.
3. Block the wheels.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of vehicle damageand/or personal burn injuries, do notstart your engine with the air cleanerremoved and do not remove it while theengine is running.

OPENING AND CLOSING THE
HOOD
1.Inside the vehicle, pull the hood releasehandle located under the bottom leftcorner of the instrument panel.
2.Go to the front of the vehicle and pushthe auxiliary latch, located in the centerof the top grille, to the left in order torelease the hood.
3. Lift the hood and secure it with theprop rod.

HD Radio technology is the digitalevolution of analog AM/FM radio. Yoursystem has a special receiver that allowsit to receive digital broadcasts (whereavailable) in addition to the analogbroadcasts, it already receives. Digitalbroadcasts provide a better sound qualitythan analog broadcasts with free,crystal-clear audio and no static ordistortion. You can even access your account outside your vehicle. Justuse the number on your phone's call history. Traffic andDirections features do not function properly but informationservices and the 411 connect and text message features areavailable.

Note:You must pair and connect yoursmartphone to SYNC to access AppLink.
Note:iPhone users need to connect thephone to the USB port in order to start theapplication.
Note:The AppLink feature is not availableif your vehicle is equipped with the MyFordTouch system.
Note:Depending on your display type, youcan access AppLink from the media menu,the phone menu, or by using voicecommands. Once an app is running throughAppLink, you can control main features ofthe app through voice commands andsteering wheel controls.
To Access Using the Phone Menu
Press the phone button to access theSYNC phone menu on-screen. You canthen scroll to:

Scroll through the list ofavailable applications andpress OK to select aparticular app. Once anapp is running throughSYNC, you can access anapp’s menu by pressing theMENU button to firstaccess the SYNC menu.
Scroll until the app name followed by"Menu", is displayed (such as, sticherMenu), then press OK. From here, you canaccess an application's features, such asThumbs up and Thumbs down.

To Connect Using Voice Commands
Plug the device into the USB port. SeeUSB Port (page 218).
Press the voice button and when prompted say:

You do not need to say words that appear within square brackets. For example, for whereUSB[1]appears, you can say USB or USB one.

Play your music by artist, album, genre,playlists, tracks, similar music or to simply,play all. You can also choose to ExploreUSB to view the supported digital musicfiles on your playing device.

Select one of the following:
Press the OK button to access musicplugged into your USB port. You can alsoplug in devices to charge them (if supportedby your device). Once connected, the
system indexes any readable media files.1
SYNC USBSELECT SRC
Press the OK button. This is a phone-dependent feature that allows you tostream music playing on your Bluetooth-enabled phone. If supported by your device,you can press seek to play the previous ornext track.
SYNC BT
Press the OK button to select and playmusic from your portable music player over
your vehicle's speakers.2
SYNC LINE IN
(If Equipped)
Choose to shuffle or repeat your music and select your Auto-play settings. Once you turn these selections on, they remainon until you turn them off. Press SEEK to play the previous or
next track.3
MEDIA SETTIN
Press the OK button to shuffle availablemedia files in the current playlist. To shuffleall media tracks, you must select Play Allin the play menu and then select Shuffle.
SHUFFLE
Press the OK button to repeat any song.REPEAT
