It is very important to use predilutedcoolant approved to the correctspecification in order to avoid plugging thesmall passageways in the engine coolingsystem. See Capacities andSpecifications (page 278). Do not mixdifferent colors or types of coolant in yourvehicle. Mixing of engine coolants or usingan incorrect coolant may harm the engineor cooling system components and maynot be covered by the vehicle Warranty.
Note:If prediluted coolant is not available, use the approved concentrated coolantdiluting it to 50/50 with distilled water. SeeCapacities and Specifications (page 278).Using water that has not been deionisedmay contribute to deposit formation, corrosion and plugging of the small coolingsystem passageways.
Note:Coolants marketed for all makes andmodels may not be approved to Fordspecifications and may cause damage tothe cooling system. Resulting componentdamage may not be covered by the vehicleWarranty.
If the coolant level is at or below theminimum mark, add prediluted coolantimmediately.
To top up the coolant level do thefollowing:
1.Unscrew the cap slowly. Any pressureescapes as you unscrew the cap.
2.Add prediluted coolant approved tothe correct specification. SeeCapacities and Specifications (page270).
3.Add enough prediluted coolant toreach the correct level.
4.Replace the coolant reservoir cap, turnit clockwise until you feel a strongresistance.
5.Check the coolant level in the coolantreservoir the next few times you driveyour vehicle. If necessary, add enoughprediluted engine coolant to bring thecoolant level to the correct level.
If you have to add more than 1.1 qt (1 L) ofengine coolant per month, have yourvehicle checked as soon as possible.Operating an engine with a low level ofcoolant can result in engine overheatingand possible engine damage.
Note:During normal vehicle operation, thecoolant may change color from orange topink or light red. As long as the coolant isclear and uncontaminated, this color changedoes not indicate the coolant has degradednor does it require the coolant to be drained, the system to be flushed, or the coolant tobe replaced.
Note:In case of emergency, you can add alarge amount of water without coolant inorder to reach a vehicle service location.Water alone, without coolant, can causeengine damage from corrosion, overheatingor freezing. When you reach a servicelocation, you must have the cooling systemdrained and refilled with prediluted coolantapproved to the correct specification. SeeCapacities and Specifications (page 278).
Do not use the following as a coolantsubstitute:
•Alcohol.
•Methanol.
•Brine.
•Any coolant mixed with alcohol ormethanol antifreeze.
Alcohol and other liquids can cause enginedamage from overheating or freezing.
Do not add extra inhibitors or additives tothe coolant. These can be harmful andcompromise the corrosion protection ofthe coolant.

Note:Make sure the battery cable terminalsare fully tightened.
Note:If you disconnect or replace thebattery, you must reset the clock and thepre-set radio stations once the battery isreconnected.
Battery Disposal
Make sure that you dispose ofold batteries in anenvironmentally friendly way.Seek advice from your local authorityabout recycling old batteries.

6.Close the hood and turn off the lamps.
Vehicles With High Intensity DischargeHeadlamps
1.Park the vehicle directly in front of awall or screen on a level surface, approximately 25 feet (7.6 meters)away.
2.Measure the height of the headlampbulb center from the ground and markan 8 foot (2.4 meter) horizontalreference line on the vertical wall orscreen at this height.
Note:To see a clearer light pattern foradjusting, you may want to block the lightfrom one headlamp while adjusting theother.
3.Turn on the low beam headlamps toilluminate the wall or screen and openthe hood.
4.There is a distinct cut-off (change fromlight to dark) in the left portion of thebeam pattern. The top edge of thiscut-off should be positioned twoinches (5 centimeters) below thehorizontal reference line.
5.Locate the vertical adjuster on eachheadlamp. Using a Phillips #2screwdriver, turn the adjuster eitherclockwise or counterclockwise in orderto aim the headlamp.

2.Firmly screw the air compressor hoseonto the valve stem by turningclockwise.
3.With the compressor off, the gage ofthe kit will display the tire inflationpressure.
Note:If you are proceeding from the Firststage: Reinflating the tire with sealingcompound and air section and have injectedsealant in the tire and the pressure is below20 psi (1.4 bar), stop and call roadsideassistance. If tire pressure is above 20 psi(1.4 bar), continue to the next step.
4.If required, turn on the compressor andadjust the tire to the recommendedinflation pressure shown on the tirelabel located on the driver's door ordoor jamb area. The tire pressureshould be checked with thecompressor turned OFF in order to getan accurate pressure reading.
5.Unscrew the compressor hose fromthe valve stem and re-install the valvecap. Leaving the sealant bottleattached to the compressor unit, safelystore in your vehicle the tire sealant andinflator kit, the bottle lid and the orangecap.
What to do after the tire has beensealed
Note:After the sealing compound has beenused, the maximum vehicle speed is 50 mph(80 km/h) and the maximum drivingdistance is 124 mi (200 km). The sealed tireshould be inspected immediately.
You can check the tire pressure any timewithin the 124 mi (200 km) by performingthe procedure from Second stage:Checking tire pressure.
Regularly check the tire pressure until thesealed tire is repaired or replaced by a tirespecialist. Before the tire is removed fromthe trim, you must inform the tire specialistthat the tire contains sealant.
After using the kit to seal your tire, you willneed to replace the sealant canister andhose. Sealant canister and hose servicekits can be obtained at an authorized Forddealer. Empty sealant canisters may bedisposed of at home. However, canistersstill containing liquid sealant should bedisposed of by your local authorized Forddealer or tire dealer, or in accordance withlocal waste disposal regulation.
