Punctures larger than 0.24 in (6 mm) maynot be sealable. Tire sidewall damagecannot be temporarily repaired.
Note:Do note use the kit if you haveseverely damaged a tire. Only sealpunctures located within the tire tread withthe kit.
Loss of air pressure may adversely affecttire performance. For this reason:
•Drive carefully and avoid abruptsteering maneuvers.
•Periodically monitor tire inflationpressure in the affected tire; if the tireis losing pressure, have the vehicletowed.
•Read the information in the Tips forUse of the Kit section to make sure safeoperation of the kit and your vehicle.
Note:Do not drive the vehicle above50 mph (80 km/h).
Note:Do not drive further than 124 mi(200 km). Drive only to the closestauthorized Ford dealer or tire repair shop tohave your tire inspected.
Tips for use of the kit
To ensure safe operation of the kit:
•Read all instructions and cautions fully.
•Before operating the kit, make sureyour vehicle is safely off the road andaway from moving traffic. Switch onthe hazard lights.
•Always set the parking brake to ensurethe vehicle doesn't move unexpectedly.
•Do not remove any foreign objects,such as nails or screws, from the tire.
•When using the kit, if the vehicle isoutdoors or in a well-ventilated area,leave the engine running so thecompressor does not drain thevehicle's battery.
•Do not allow the compressor tooperate continuously for more than 15minutes. This will help prevent thecompressor from overheating.
•Never leave the kit unattended whenit is operating.
•Keep the kit away from children.
•Only use the kit when the ambienttemperature is between -22.0°F(-30°C) and 157.9°F (70°C).
•Only use the sealing compound beforethe use-by date which is printed on thetop of sealant bottle.
•After sealant use, an authorized Forddealer must replace the tire pressuremonitoring system sensor and valvestem on the wheel.
•Operating the kit could cause anelectrical disturbance in radio, CD, andDVD player operation.
What to do when a tire is punctured
A tire puncture within the tire's tread areacan be sealed in two stages with the kit.
•In the first stage, the tire will bereinflated with a sealing compoundand air. After the tire has been inflated,you will need to drive the vehicleapproximately 4 mi (6 km) to distributethe sealant in the tire.
•In the second stage, you will need tocheck the tire pressure and adjust, ifnecessary, to the vehicle's specifiedtire inflation pressure.

Radio Frequencies and Reception Factors
Radio Reception Factors
The further you travel away from an FM station, the weakerthe signal and the weaker the reception.Distance and Strength
Hills, mountains, tall buildings, bridges, tunnels, freewayoverpasses, parking garages, dense tree foliage andthunderstorms can interfere with the reception.
Terrain
When you pass near a radio transmission tower, a strongersignal can override a weaker signal and can cause interfer-ence in the audio system.
Station overload
MP3 and WMA Track and FolderStructure
Audio systems capable of recognizing andplaying MP3 and WMA individual tracksand folder structures work as follows:
•There are two different modes for MP3and WMA disc playback: MP3 andWMA track mode (system default) andMP3 and WMA folder mode.
•MP3 and WMA track mode ignores anyfolder structure on the MP3 and WMAdisc. The player numbers each MP3and WMA track on the disc (noted bythe .mp3 or .WMA file extension) fromT001 to a maximum of T255.

GENERAL INFORMATION
SYNC is an in-vehicle communicationssystem that works with yourBluetooth-enabled cellular phone andportable media player. This allows you to:
•Make and receive calls.
•Access and play music from yourportable music player.
•Use 911 Assist or Emergency Assistanceand applications via SYNC AppLink.*
•Access phonebook contacts and musicusing voice commands.
•Stream music from your connectedphone.
•Text message.
•Use the advanced voice recognitionsystem.
•Charge your USB device (if your devicesupports this).*These features are not available in allmarkets and may require activation.Available AppLink enabled apps vary bymarket.

For your safety, certain features arespeed-dependent and restricted when yourvehicle is traveling over 3 mi (5 km).

•Do not leave playing devices in yourvehicle during extreme conditions as itcould cause them damage. See yourdevice's manual for further information.
•Do not attempt to service or repair thesystem. See an authorized dealer.
Privacy Information
When a cellular phone is connected toSYNC, the system creates a profile withinyour vehicle that is linked to that cellularphone. This profile is created in order tooffer you more cellular features and tooperate more efficiently. Among other

things, this profile may contain data aboutyour cellular phone book, text messages(read and unread), and call history,including history of calls when your cellularphone was not connected to the system.In addition, if you connect a media device,the system creates and retains an index ofsupported media content. The system alsorecords a short development log ofapproximately 10 minutes of all recentsystem activity. The log profile and othersystem data may be used to improve thesystem and help diagnose any problemsthat may occur.
The cellular profile, media device index,and development log will remain in thevehicle unless you delete them and aregenerally accessible only in the vehiclewhen the cellular phone or media playeris connected. If you no longer plan to usethe system or the vehicle, we recommendyou perform a Master Reset to erase allstored information.
System data cannot be accessed withoutspecial equipment and access to thevehicle's SYNC module. Ford MotorCompany and Ford of Canada will notaccess the system data for any purposeother than as described absent consent, a
court order, or where required by lawenforcement, other governmentauthorities, or other third parties actingwith lawful authority. Other parties mayseek to access the informationindependently of Ford Motor Company andFord of Canada. USING VOICE RECOGNITION
This system helps you control manyfeatures using voice commands. Thisallows you to keep your hands on thewheel and focus on what is around you.
Initiating a Voice Session
Press the voice button. A list ofavailable voice commandsappears in the display.
Global Voice Commands
These voice commands are alwaysavailable. You can say them at any time.

•To allow your vehicle to providelocation information, including: GPSand speed.
•To allow the app to send pushnotifications using the vehicle displayand voice capabilities while running ina background state. Push notificationsmay be particularly useful for news orlocation based apps.

Enabling SYNC Mobile Apps
In order to enable mobile apps, SYNCrequires user consent to send and receiveapp authorization information and updatesusing the data plan associated with theconnected device.
Data is sent to Ford in the United Statesthrough the connected device. Theinformation is encrypted and includes yourVIN, SYNC module number, anonymoususage statistics and debugginginformation. Updates may take place.
Note:You must enable mobile apps foreach connected device the first time youselect a mobile app using the system.
Note: Standard data rates apply. Ford isnot responsible for any additional chargesyou may receive from your service provider,when your vehicle sends or receives datathrough the connected device. This includesany additional charges incurred due todriving in areas when roaming out of a homenetwork.
USING SYNC™ WITH YOUR
MEDIA PLAYER
SYNC supports digital media sourcesincluding: iPod, Bluetooth devices, andmost USB drives. SYNC also supportsaudio formats, such as MP3, WMA, WAVand ACC.
Media Sources
The AUX or MEDIA button allows you toview and select available media sources.
Press the AUX or MEDIA button to viewyour sources. Use the directional arrowsand OK button to select your source. Youcan also use the steering wheel audiocontrols.
Audio Voice Commands
Press the voice button. You cando things like play a specific songor album, skip to the next song,or tune to a radio station. When prompted,say a command. See the following tablefor example commands. Not allcommands may be available on yourvehicle.

Privacy Information
When you connect a cellular phone toSYNC 3, the system creates a profile withinyour vehicle that links to that cellularphone. This profile helps in offering youmore cellular features and operating moreefficiently. Among other things, this profilemay contain data about your cellularphone book, text messages (read andunread), and call history, including historyof calls when your cell phone was notconnected to the system. In addition, if youconnect a media device, the systemcreates and retains an index of supportedmedia content. The system also records ashort diagnostic log of approximately 10minutes of all recent system activity. Thelog profile and other system data may beused to improve the system and helpdiagnose any problems that may occur.
The cellular profile, media device index,and diagnostic log remain in your vehicleunless you delete them and are generallyaccessible only in your vehicle when thecellular phone or media player isconnected.
If you sell or transfer your vehicle, werecommend you perform a Master Resetto erase all stored information. You canfind more information about the MasterReset in General Settings. See Settings(page 354). System data cannot beaccessed without special equipment andaccess to your vehicle's SYNC 3 module.Ford Motor Company and Ford of Canadado not access the system data for anypurpose other than as described absentconsent, a court order, or where requiredby law enforcement, other governmentauthorities, or other third parties actingwith lawful authority. Other parties mayseek to access the informationindependently of Ford Motor Company andFord of Canada.

USING VOICE RECOGNITION
The SYNC 3 system allows you to use voicecommands, to control features like audioand phone. By using voice commands, youcan keep your hands on the wheel and youreyes on the road.
You can access each feature controlled bySYNC 3 through a variety of commands.
To activate the SYNC 3 voicecommands push the voicebutton on the steering wheel andwait for the prompt.

USB Port
The USB port is in the center console orbehind a small access door in theinstrument panel.
This feature allows you to plug in USBmedia devices, memory sticks, flash drivesor thumb drives, and charge devices if theysupport this feature.
Select this option to play audio from yourUSB device.
Apps
The system supports the use of certainaudio apps such as iHeartRadio through aUSB or bluetooth-enabled device.
Each app gives you different on-screenoptions depending on the app's content.
Supported Media Players, Formatsand Metadata Information
The system is capable of hosting nearlyany digital media player, including iPod,iPhone, and most USB drives.
Supported audio formats include MP3,WMA, WAV, AAC, and FLAC.
Supported audio file extensions includeMP3, WMA, WAV, M4A, M4B, AAC, andFLAC.
Supported USB file systems include: FAT,exFAT, and NTFS.
SYNC 3 is also able to organize the mediafrom your USB device by metadata tags.Metadata tags, which are descriptivesoftware identifiers embedded in themedia files, provide information about thefile.
If your indexed media files contain noinformation embedded in these metadatatags, SYNC 3 may classify the emptymetadata tags as unknown.
SYNC 3 is capable of indexing up to50,000 songs per USB device, for up to 10devices.
