Locking and Unlocking the Doors
Locking All Doors
Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 on the keypadsimultaneously with the driver door closed.You do not need to enter a code first.
Unlocking Only the Driver Door
Enter the factory-set or your personalfive-digit code. You must press eachnumber within five seconds of each other.The interior lamps illuminate.
Note: All doors unlock if you switch on theall door unlocking mode. See Locking andUnlocking (page 61).
Unlocking All Doors
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 3·4 on the keypad withinfive seconds.
Opening the Luggage Compartment
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 5·6 on the keypad withinfive seconds.
Displaying the Factory-Set Code
Note:You need to have two programmedkeys for this procedure.
1. Remove the key blade from thetransmitter.
2. Remove the rubber covering (A) fromthe cup holder. With the buttons facingupward and the unlock button facingthe front of your vehicle, place the firstintelligent access key into the backupslot (B).
3. Press the push button ignition switchonce and wait a few seconds.
4. Press the push button ignition switchagain and remove the key.
5.Insert the second programmed key intothe backup slot, and then press thepush button ignition switch.
The factory-set code appears in theinformation display for a few seconds.
Note:The code may not display until afterany other warning messages first display.

WARNINGS
Keep vehicle doors and luggagecompartment locked and keep keysand remote transmitters out of achild’s reach. Unsupervised children couldlock themselves in the trunk and risk injury.Children should be taught not to play invehicles.

WARNINGS
Do not leave children or animalsunattended in the vehicle. On hotdays, the temperature in the trunk orvehicle interior can rise very quickly.Exposure of people or animals to thesehigh temperatures for even a short timecan cause death or serious heat-relatedinjuries, including brain damage. Smallchildren are particularly at risk.
Your vehicle is equipped with a releasehandle that provides a means of escapefor children and adults if they becomelocked inside the luggage compartment.
Adults should familiarize themselves withthe operation and location of the releasehandle.
The handle is located inside the luggagecompartment either on the luggagecompartment door (lid) or near the taillamps. It is composed of a material thatwill glow for hours in darkness followingbrief exposure to ambient light.
Pull the handle and push up on the luggagecompartment door (lid) to open fromwithin the luggage compartment.

Stability Control
Flashes when the system isactive. If it stays lit or does notlight when you switch on theignition, this indicates a malfunction.During a malfunction the system willswitch off. Have an authorized dealercheck the system immediately. See UsingStability Control (page 186).
Stability Control Off
Lights when you switch thesystem off. It will go out whenyou switch the system back onor when you switch off the ignition. SeeUsing Stability Control (page 186).
Stop Safely
Lights if your vehicle has anelectrical component fault orfailure that will cause yourvehicle to shutdown or enter into a limitedoperating mode. You may also see amessage.
Trunk Ajar
Lights when the ignition is on andthe trunk is not completelyclosed.
Vehicle Plugged in (If Equipped)
Lights when the vehicle isplugged in. A correspondingmessage may display afterattempting to start the vehicle.
AUDIBLE WARNINGS AND
INDICATORS
Keyless Warning Alert
The horn will sound twice when you exityour vehicle with the intelligent access keyand your vehicle is in RUN, indicating yourvehicle is still on.
Headlamps On Warning Chime
Sounds when you remove the key from theignition and open the driver's door and youhave left the headlamps or parking lampson.
Parking Brake On Warning Chime
Sounds when you have left the parkingbrake on and drive your vehicle. If thewarning chime remains on after you havereleased the parking brake, have thesystem checked by your authorized dealerimmediately.

1. Press START/STOP to switch off yourvehicle.
2. Press the brake pedal andSTART/STOP to switch on yourvehicle.
3. Check the information display for theReady to Drive light as the gasolineengine may not start, but the electricmotor may be running. If you do not seethe Ready to Drive light, repeat Steps1 and 2 up to two more times.
JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE
WARNINGS
Batteries normally produce explosivegases which can cause personalinjury. Therefore, do not allowflames, sparks or lighted substances tocome near the battery. When working nearthe battery, always shield your face andprotect your eyes. Always provide correctventilation.
Keep batteries out of reach ofchildren. Batteries contain sulfuricacid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes orclothing. Shield your eyes when workingnear the battery to protect against possiblesplashing of acid solution. In case of acidcontact with skin or eyes, flushimmediately with water for a minimum of15 minutes and get prompt medicalattention. If acid is swallowed, call aphysician immediately.
Use only adequately sized cableswith insulated clamps.
Preparing Your Vehicle
Do not attempt to push-start yourautomatic transmission vehicle.
Note:Attempting to push-start a vehiclewith an automatic transmission may causetransmission damage.
Note:Use only a 12-volt supply to start yourvehicle.
Note:Do not disconnect the battery of thedisabled vehicle as this could damage thevehicle electrical system.
Park the booster vehicle close to the hoodof the disabled vehicle, making sure thetwo vehicles do not touch.
Connecting the Jumper Cables
WARNINGS
Do not connect the end of thesecond cable to the negative (-)terminal of the battery to be jumped.A spark may cause an explosion of thegases that surround the battery.
Do not use fuel lines, engine valvecovers, windshield wiper arms, theintake manifold, or hood latch asground points.
Note:Your vehicle has two battery prongsthat are accessible from under the hood,even though the actual battery is located inthe trunk. You can jump start your vehiclethe same way conventional vehicles can beusing these prongs.
Note:Do not attach the end of the positivecable to the studs or L-shaped eyeletlocated above the positive (+) terminal ofyour vehicle’s battery. High current may flowthrough and cause damage to the fuses.
Note:To avoid reverse polarity connections,make sure that you correctly identify thepositive (+) and negative (-) terminals onboth the disabled and booster vehiclesbefore connecting the cables.

GENERAL INFORMATION
A decal with tire pressure data is locatedin the driver’s door opening.
Check and set the tire pressure at theambient temperature in which you areintending to drive your vehicle and whenthe tires are cold.
Note:Check your tire pressures regularly tooptimize fuel economy.
Note:Use only approved wheel and tiresizes. Using other sizes could damage yourvehicle and will make the National TypeApproval invalid.
Note:If you change the diameter of the tiresfrom that fitted at the factory, thespeedometer may not display the correctspeed. Take your vehicle to an authorizeddealer to have the engine managementsystem reprogrammed.
TIRE SEALANT AND INFLATOR
KIT
Note:The temporary mobility kit containsenough sealant compound in the canisterfor one tire repair only. See your authorizedFord dealer for replacement sealantcanisters.
The kit is located under the load floor inthe trunk. The kit consists of an aircompressor to re-inflate the tire and acanister of sealing compound that willeffectively seal most punctures caused bynails or similar objects. This kit will providea temporary tire repair allowing you to driveyour vehicle up to 120 mi (200 km) at amaximum speed of 50 mph (80 km/h) toreach a tire service location.
