Secure children that weigh between 29 lb(13 kg) and 40 lb (18 kg) in a child safetyseat (Group 1) on the rear seat.
Booster Seats
WARNINGS
Do not install a booster seat or abooster cushion with only the lapstrap of the safety belt.
Do not install a booster seat or abooster cushion with a safety beltthat is slack or twisted.
Do not put the safety belt under yourchild’s arm or behind its back.
Do not use pillows, books or towelsto boost your child’s height.
Make sure that your children sit in anupright position.
When using a child seat on a rearseat, the child seat must rest tightlyagainst the vehicle seat. It must nottouch the head restraint. If necessaryremove the head restraint. See HeadRestraints (page 126).
WARNINGS
You must reinstall the head restraintfollowing the removal of the childseat. See Head Restraints (page126).
Note:When using a child seat on a rearseat, adjust the front seat in a position toprevent contact with the rear passenger,child feet or child legs.
Booster Seat (Group 2)
Secure children that weigh more than 33 lb(15 kg) but are less than 59 in (150 cm) tallin a booster seat or a booster cushion.
We recommend that you use a boosterseat that combines a cushion with abackrest instead of a booster cushion only.The raised seating position will allow youto position the shoulder strap of the adultsafety belt over the center of your child’sshoulder and the lap strap tightly acrossits hips.

WARNINGS
Do not attach a tether strap toanything other than the correcttether anchor point.
Make sure that the top tether strapis not slack or twisted and is properlylocated on the anchor point.
Note:Where applicable, remove theluggage cover to ease installation.
1.Route the tether strap to the anchorpoint.
2.Push the child seat back firmly toengage the ISOFIX lower anchor points.
3.Tighten the tether strap in line with thechild seat manufacturer's instructions.
CHILD SEAT POSITIONING
WARNINGS
See an authorized dealer for thelatest details relating to ourrecommended child seats.
Extreme Hazard! Never use arearward facing child restraint on aseat protected by an active airbag infront of it. Death or serious injury to thechild can occur.
When using a child seat with asupport leg, the support leg mustrest securely on the floor.
When using a child seat with a safetybelt, make sure that the safety beltis not slack or twisted.
The child seat must rest tightlyagainst the vehicle seat. It must nottouch the head restraint. If necessaryremove the head restraint. See HeadRestraints (page 126).

Note:When using a child seat on a frontseat, the following longitudinal seatpositioning guideline should be followed:The child seat must not be in contact withthe instrument panel. The passenger seatshould be positioned as far rearwards aspossible by having a seat belt routing (fromB-Pillar ring to child seat) in a vehicleforward direction. If it proves difficult totighten the lap section of the safety beltwithout slack remaining, adjust the seatbackto the fully upright position and raise theheight of the seat. See Seats (page 126).

WARNINGS
Insert the tongue into the buckle untilyou hear a distinct click. You havenot fastened the safety belt correctlyif you do not hear a click.
Make sure that your safety belt issecurely stored away and is notoutside your vehicle when closing thedoor.
Standard belts shown, inflatable beltssimilar
Pull the belt out steadily. It may lock if youpull it sharply or if your vehicle is on a slope.
Press the red button on the buckle torelease the belt. Hold the tongue and let itretract completely and smoothly to itsstowed position.
Using Safety Belts DuringPregnancy
WARNING
Position the safety belt correctly foryour safety and that of your unbornchild. Do not use only the lap strapor the shoulder strap.

The lap belt portion of acombination lap and shoulder belt shouldbe positioned low across the hips belowthe belly and worn as tight as comfort willallow. The shoulder belt should bepositioned to cross the middle of theshoulder and the center of the chest.
SAFETY BELT HEIGHT
ADJUSTMENT
WARNING
Position the safety belt heightadjuster so that the belt rests acrossthe middle of your shoulder. Failureto adjust the safety belt properly couldreduce the effectiveness of the safety beltand increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Adjust the height of the shoulder belt sothe belt rests across the middle of yourshoulder.
To adjust the shoulder belt height:
1.Pull the button and slide the heightadjuster up or down.
2.Release the button and pull down onthe height adjuster to make sure it islocked in place.
SAFETY BELT MINDER
WARNING
The system will only provideprotection when you use the safetybelt correctly.
The warning lamp illuminates and anaudible warning will sound when thefollowing conditions have been met:
•The front safety belts have not beenfastened.
•Your vehicle exceeds a relatively lowspeed.
It will also illuminate and sound if a frontsafety belt is unfastened when your vehicleis moving.
If you do not fasten your safety belt thewarning switches off automatically afterapproximately five minutes.
Turning the Safety Belt Minder Off
Contact an authorized dealer.

Do not modify the front of yourvehicle in any way. This couldadversely affect deployment of theairbags. Failure to adhere to this warningcould result in serious personal injury ordeath.
Wear a safety belt and keepsufficient distance between yourselfand the steering wheel. Only whenyou use the safety belt correctly, can it holdyou in a position that allows the airbag toachieve its optimum effect. See Sittingin the Correct Position (page 126). Failureto adhere to this warning could result inserious personal injury or death.
Repairs to the steering wheel,steering column, seats, airbags andsafety belts must be carried out byan authorized dealer. Failure to adhere tothis warning could result in seriouspersonal injury or death.
Keep the areas in front of the airbagsfree from obstruction. Do not affixanything to or over the airbag covers.In the event of a crash, hard objects couldcause serious personal injury or death.
Do not puncture the seat with sharpobjects. This could damage andadversely affect deployment of theairbags. Failure to adhere to this warningcould result in serious personal injury ordeath.
Use seat covers designed for seatswith side airbags. Have these fittedby an authorized dealer. Failure toadhere to this warning could result inserious personal injury or death.
Note:You will hear a loud bang and see acloud of harmless powdery residue if anairbag deploys. This is normal.
Note:Only wipe airbag covers with a dampcloth.
DRIVER AIRBAG
The airbag will deploy during significantfrontal collisions or collisions that are upto 30 degrees from the left or the right. Theairbag will inflate within a few thousandthsof a second and deflate on contact withthe occupant, thus cushioning forwardbody movement. During minor frontalcollisions, overturns, rear collisions andside collisions, the airbag will not deploy.

INFLATABLE SAFETY BELTS
Rear Inflatable Safety Belt (If
Equipped)
WARNINGS
Do not attempt to service, repair, ormodify the rear inflatable safety belt.
If the rear inflatable safety belt hasdeployed, it will not function again.The rear inflatable safety belt systemmust be replaced by an authorized dealer.
The rear inflatable safety belts are fittedin the shoulder portion of the safety beltsof the second-row outboard seatingpositions.
Note:The rear inflatable safety belts areonly compatible with belt positioningbooster seats of Group 2 and 3 whenproperly installed. See Installing ChildSeats (page 17). This is because they aredesigned to fill with a cooled gas at a lowerpressure and at a slower rate thantraditional airbags. After inflation, theshoulder portion of the safety belt remainscool to the touch.
The rear inflatable safety belt consists ofthe following:
•An inflatable bag located in theshoulder safety belt webbing.
•Lap safety belt webbing withautomatic locking mode.
•The same warning light, electroniccontrol and diagnostic unit as used forthe front safety belts.
•Impact sensors located in various partsof the vehicle.
How does the rear inflatable safety beltsystem work?
The rear inflatable safety belts willfunction like standard restraints ineveryday usage.
During a crash of sufficient force, theinflatable belt will inflate from inside thewebbing.
