In these conditions, you can do thefollowing to help keep your windshieldclear:
•Lower the sensitivity of the autowipersto reduce the amount of smearing.
•Switch to normal or high-speed wipe.
•Switch the autowipers off.
Highest sensitivityA
OnB
Lowest sensitivityC
The autowipers feature uses a rain sensor. You will find it in the area around theinterior mirror. The rain sensor monitorsthe amount of moisture on the windshieldand automatically turns on the wipers. Itwill adjust the wiper speed by the amountof moisture that the sensor detects on thewindshield.
Note:This autowiper feature isautomatically set to on and remains on untilyou switch it off in the information display. You can also switch the feature back on atany time. See (page 86).
Use the rotary control to adjust thesensitivity of the rain sensor. Set thecontrol to low sensitivity, and the wiperswill turn on when the rain sensor detectsa large amount of moisture on thewindshield. Set the control to highsensitivity, and the wipers will turn on whenthe rain sensor detects a small amount ofmoisture on the windshield.
Note:When you set the wiper system tointermittent wipe and the autowiper systemis on, the autowiper sensitivity settingadjusts the wiper speed according to themoisture on the windshield only. Use thewiper lever to wipe the windshieldon-demand.
Keep the outside of the windshield clean. The rain sensor is very sensitive. If the areaaround the mirror is dirty, then the wipersmay operate if dirt, mist or insects hit thewindshield.
WINDSHIELD WASHERS
Note:Do not operate the washers whenthe washer reservoir is empty. This maycause the washer pump to overheat.
To operate the washers and spray thewindshield, pull the lever toward you.

Shows the temperature of the enginecoolant. At normal operating temperature, the needle will remain in the center section. If the needle enters the red section, theengine is overheating. Stop the engine, switch the ignition off and determine thecause once the engine has cooled down.
Note:Do not restart the engine until thecause of overheating has been resolved.
WARNING
Never remove the coolant reservoircap while the engine is running or hot.
Fuel Gauge
Note:The fuel gauge may vary slightlywhen your vehicle is moving or on a gradient.
Switch the ignition on. The fuel gauge willindicate approximately how much fuel isleft in the fuel tank. The arrow adjacent tothe fuel pump symbol indicates on whichside of your vehicle the fuel filler door islocated.
The needle should move toward F whenyou refuel your vehicle. If the needle pointsto E after adding fuel, this indicates yourvehicle needs service soon.
After refueling some variability in needleposition is normal:
•It may take a short time for the needleto reach F after leaving the gas station. This is normal and depends upon theslope of pavement at the gas station.
•The fuel amount dispensed into thetank is a little less or more than thegauge indicated. This is normal anddepends upon the slope of pavementat the gas station.
•If the gas station nozzle shuts offbefore the tank is full, try a differentgas pump nozzle.
Low Fuel Reminder
A low fuel reminder triggers when the fuelgauge needle is at 1/16th.

WARNING
Do not plug electrical accessoriesinto the cigar lighter socket. Incorrectuse of the lighter can cause damagenot covered by your warranty, and canresult in fire or serious injury.
Note:When you switch the ignition on, youcan use the socket to power 12 voltappliances with a maximum current ratingof 15 amps. After you switch the ignition off,the power supply works only for a maximumof 30 minutes.
Note:Do not insert objects other than anaccessory plug into the power point. Thisdamages the outlet and blows the fuse.
Note:Do not hang any type of accessory oraccessory bracket from the plug.
Note:Do not use the power point over thevehicle capacity of 12 volt DC 180 watt or afuse may blow.
Note:Do not use the power point foroperating a cigar lighter element.
Note:Incorrect use of the power point cancause damage not covered by yourwarranty.
Note:Always keep the power point capsclosed when not in use.
Run the engine for full capacity use of thepower point.
To prevent your vehicle battery fromrunning out of charge:

•Do not leave devices plugged inovernight or when your vehicle is in park(P) for extended periods.
Location
Power points may be found:
•On the center console.
•Inside the center console.
•On the rear of the console.
•In the cargo area (Wagon Only).
230 Volt Power Point (If Equipped)
WARNING
Do not keep electrical devicesplugged in the power point wheneverthe device is not in use. Do not useany extension cord with the 230 volt powerpoint, since it will defeat the safetyprotection design. Doing so may cause thepower point to overload. Powering multipledevices can reach beyond the 150 wattload limit and could result in fire or seriousinjury.
Note:Keep the vehicle running to use thepower point.
You can use the power point for poweringelectrical devices that require up to 150watts. It is on the rear of the centerconsole.
The power point indicator light, located onthe power point, shows when the powerpoint is ready for use.
When the power point indicator light is:
•On — the power point is ready to supplypower.
•Off — the power point power supply isoff and so is the ignition.
•Flashing — the power point is in faultmode.
The power point temporarily turns off itspower if the electrical load exceeds the150 watt limit. The power point can alsoswitch to a fault mode if it detectsoverloading, overheating or shortingconditions.

This feature may increase durability andprovide consistent shift feel over the lifeof your vehicle. A new vehicle ortransmission may have firm shifts, softshifts or both. This operation is considerednormal and does not affect function ordurability of the transmission. Over time, the adaptive learning process fully updatestransmission operation.
If Your Vehicle Gets Stuck In Mudor Snow
Note:Do not rock your vehicle if the engineis not at normal operating temperature ordamage to the transmission may occur.
Note:Do not rock your vehicle for morethan a minute or damage to thetransmission and tires may occur, or theengine may overheat.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine Overriding the System
WARNING
Whenever the driver is overriding thesystem by pressing the acceleratorpedal, the system does notautomatically apply the brakes to maintainseparation from any vehicle ahead.
You can override the set speed and gap bypressing the accelerator pedal.
When you override the system, the green indicator lightilluminates and the lead vehiclegraphic does not show in theinformation display.
The system resumes operation when yourelease the accelerator pedal. The vehiclespeed decreases to the set speed, or alower speed if following a slower vehicle.
Automatic Switch Off
The system does not operate below12 mph (20 km/h). An audible warningsounds and the automatic braking releasesif the vehicle drops below this speed.
Automatic cancellation can also occur if:
•The tires lose traction.
•The engine speed is too low.
•You apply the parking brake.
Note:If the engine speed drops too low,the information display indicates low enginespeed. Shift to a lower gear (manualtransmission only) to avoid automaticcancellation.
Hilly Condition Usage
You should select a lower gear positionwhen the system is active in situationssuch as prolonged downhill driving onsteep grades, for example in mountainousareas. The system needs additional enginebraking in these situations to reduce theload on the vehicle’s regular brake systemto prevent them from overheating.
Note:An audible warning sounds and thesystem shuts down if it applies brakes foran extended period of time. This allows thebrakes to cool down. The system functionsnormally again when the brakes have cooleddown.
Detection Beam Issues
The radar sensor has a limited field ofvision. It may not detect vehicles at all ordetect a vehicle later than expected insome situations. The lead vehicle graphicdoes not illuminate if the system does notdetect a vehicle in front of you.
