The remote start system will not work if:
•The ignition is on.
•The alarm system triggered.
•You disable the feature.
•The hood is open.
•The transmission is not in park (P).
•The vehicle battery voltage is too low.
•The service engine soon light is on.
Remote Starting the Vehicle
Note:You must press each button withinthree seconds of each other. Your vehiclewill not remote start if you do not follow thissequence.
The tag with your transmitter details thestarting procedure.
To remote start your vehicle:
1.Press the lock button to lock all thedoors.
2.Press the remote start button twice.The exterior lamps flash twice.
The horn sounds if the system fails to start,unless quiet start is on. Quiet start will runthe blower fan at a slower speed to reducenoise. It can be switched on or off in theinformation display. See GeneralInformation (page 86).
Note:If you remote start the vehicle withan integrated keyhead transmitter, you mustswitch the ignition on before driving yourvehicle. With an intelligent accesstransmitter, you must press theSTART/STOP button on the instrumentpanel once while applying the brake pedalbefore driving your vehicle.
The power windows will not work duringthe remote start and the radio will not turnon automatically.
The parking lamps will remain on and thevehicle will run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes,depending on the setting.
Extending the Vehicle Run Time
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the vehicle stillrunning to extend the run time for anotherremote start duration. If you programmedthe duration to last 10 minutes, the second10 minutes will begin after what is left ofthe first activation time. For example, if thevehicle had been running from the firstremote start for five minutes, the vehiclewill continue to run now for a total of 15minutes. You can extend the remote startup to a maximum of 35 minutes.
Wait at least five seconds before remotestarting after a vehicle shutdown.
Turning the Vehicle Off After RemoteStarting
Press the button once. Thevehicle and parking lamps willturn off.
You may have to be closer to the vehiclethan when starting due to ground reflectionand the added noise of the running vehicle.
You can disable or enable the remote startsystem through the information display.See General Information (page 86).

1.Press the steering column control againafter encountering the new stoppingposition.
2.Continue pressing the control until itreaches the end of the column position.
A new stopping position is set. The nexttime you tilt or telescope the steeringcolumn, it will stop just short of the end ofthe column position.
Memory Feature
You can save and recall the steeringcolumn position with the memory function.See Memory Function (page 131).
Note:Pressing the adjustment controlduring memory recall cancels the operation.The column responds to the adjustmentcontrol.
Easy Entry and Exit Feature (If
Equipped)
When you switch the ignition off, thesteering column will move to the full upposition to allow extra room to exit yourvehicle. The column will return to theprevious setting when you switch theignition on. You can enable or disable thisfeature in the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 86).

Select the required source on the audiounit.

General Information
The system allows you to listen to DAB(Digital Audio Broadcast) radio stations.
Note:Coverage differs from region to regionand influences the quality of reception. It isbroadcast nationwide, regionally andlocally.
The following formats are supported:
•DAB.
•DAB+.
•DMB-Audio (Digital MultimediaBroadcasting).
Ensembles
Ensembles contain a group of radiostations. Each ensemble can consist ofseveral different radio stations.
The radio station name displays below theensemble name.
Note:When you tune from one ensembleto another, it can take a while until thesystem synchronizes to the next ensemble.The system mutes during synchronization.
Service Linking
If you leave the coverage area of a DABradio station, the system automaticallyswitches to the corresponding FM radiostation.
You can switch this feature on and offusing the information display. See GeneralInformation (page 292).
Note:If a DAB radio station has nocorresponding FM radio station, the audiomutes when attempting to switch.
Note:The system displays the FM symbolwhen DAB and FM radio stations link.
Note:The sound quality changes when yoursystem switches from DAB to thecorresponding FM station.
Using Digital Audio Broadcast ona Non-Touchscreen
Selecting Radio Band
DAB1 and DAB2 operate in the same way.You can store up to 10 different presets oneach band.
1.Press the RADIO button.
2.Press the left arrow button to displaythe available wavebands.
3.Select DAB1 orDAB2.
Radio Station Tuning Control
Press the RADIO button and select DAB1orDAB2. All preset banks operate in thesame way and can store up to 10 differentpreset radio stations.
Note:When you reach the first or last radiostation within an ensemble, further tuningskips to the next ensemble. There may be adelay during this change and the audiobriefly mutes.
Seek Tuning
1.Press a seek button. The system stopsat the first radio station it finds in thedirection chosen.
Radio Station List
This feature displays all the available radiostations in a list.
1.Press function button 1.
2.Press the left or right arrow buttons tochange ensembles. Press the up ordown arrow button to navigate to yourrequired radio station.
3.Press OK to confirm your selection.
Note:The display only shows radio stationsin the current ensemble.

Radio Station Preset Buttons
This feature allows you to store up to 10favorite radio stations from any ensemblein each preset bank.
1.Select a radio station.
2.Press and hold one of the presetbuttons. A progress bar and messageappear. When the progress barcompletes, the radio station has beenstored. The system mutes momentarilyas confirmation.
Once stored, press a preset button at anytime to select a favorite radio station.
Note:Radio stations stored on the presetbuttons may not always be available if youhave left the coverage area. The system willmute when this happens.
Radio Text
You can display extra information. Forexample; artist name. To switch this optionon, select a radio station and pressfunction button 3.
Note:Extra information may not always beavailable.
Using Digital Audio Broadcast andSYNC with Touchscreen
Selecting Radio Band

AUDIO INPUT JACK
WARNINGS
Driving while distracted can result inloss of vehicle control, crash andinjury. We strongly recommend thatyou use extreme caution when using anydevice that may take your focus off theroad. Your primary responsibility is the safeoperation of your vehicle. We recommendagainst the use of any hand-held devicewhile driving and encourage the use ofvoice-operated systems when possible.Make sure you are aware of all applicablelocal laws that may affect the use ofelectronic devices while driving.
For safety reasons, do not connector adjust the settings on yourportable music player while yourvehicle is moving.
WARNINGS
Store the portable music player in asecure location, such as the centerconsole or the glove box, when yourvehicle is moving. Hard objects maybecome projectiles in a collision or suddenstop, which may increase the risk of seriousinjury. The audio extension cable must belong enough to allow the portable musicplayer to be safely stored while yourvehicle is moving.
The auxiliary input jack allows you toconnect and play music from your portablemusic player through your vehicle speakers.You can use any portable music playerdesigned for use with headphones. Youraudio extension cable must have male1/8th-inch (3.5 millimeter) connectors ateach end.
1.Switch off the engine, radio andportable music player. Set the parkingbrake and put the transmission inposition P (vehicle with an automatictransmission) or neutral (vehicle witha manual transmission).
2.Plug the extension cable from theportable music player into the auxiliaryinput jack.
3.Switch the radio on. Select either atuned FM station or a CD.
4.Adjust the volume as desired.

USING SYNC™ WITH YOUR
PHONE
Hands-free calling is one of the mainfeatures of SYNC. While the systemsupports a variety of features, many aredependent on your cell phone'sfunctionality.
At a minimum, most cell phones withBluetooth wireless technology support thefollowing functions:
•Answering an incoming call.
•Ending a call.
•Using privacy mode.
•Dialing a number.
•Redialing.
•Call waiting notification.
•Caller ID.
Other features such as text messagingusing Bluetooth and automatic phonebookdownload are cell phone dependentfeatures. To check your cell phone'scompatibility, refer to your device's manualor visit the regional Ford website.
Pairing a Cell Phone For the FirstTime
Wirelessly pairing your cell phone with thesystem allows you to make and receivehands-free calls.
Note:You must switch the ignition andradio on.
Note:To scroll through the menus, pressthe up or down arrows on your audio system.
1.Make sure the Bluetooth feature onyour cell phone is switched on beforestarting the search. Refer to yourdevice's manual if necessary.
2.Press the PHONE button. When theaudio display indicates that no phonesare paired, select the option to add.
3.When a message to begin pairingappears in the audio display, search forSYNC on your cell phone to start thepairing process.
4.Select SYNC on your cell phone.
5.Wait until the PIN appears on thephone display. Compare the PIN on thephone with the PIN shown in the audiodisplay and accept the request on thephone and the vehicle display. Thedisplay indicates when the pairing issuccessful.
Note:In some cases the phone will requestto enter a PIN. Enter the six-digit PINprovided by the system in the audio display.The display indicates when the pairing issuccessful.
Depending on your cell phone's capabilityand your market, the system may promptyou with questions such as setting thecurrent cell phone as the primary cellphone (the cell phone the systemautomatically tries to connect with firstwhen you switch the ignition on) ordownloading your phonebook.

Pairing Subsequent Cell Phones
Wirelessly pairing your cell phone with thesystem allows you to make and receivehands-free calls.

1.Make sure the Bluetooth feature onyour cell phone is switched on beforestarting the search. Refer to yourdevice's manual if necessary.
2.Press the PHONE button.
3.Select the option for Bluetooth devices.
4.Press the OK button.
5.Select the option to add. This startsthe pairing process.
6.When a message to begin pairingappears in the audio display, search forSYNC on your device to start thepairing process.
7.Select SYNC on your cell phone.
8.Wait until the PIN appears on thephone display. Compare the PIN on thephone with the PIN shown in the audiodisplay and accept the request on thephone and the vehicle display. Thedisplay indicates when the pairing issuccessful.
Note:In some cases the phone will requestto enter a PIN. Enter the six-digit PINprovided by the system in the audio display.The display indicates when the pairing issuccessful.
The system may prompt you withquestions such as setting the current cellphone as the primary cell phone ordownloading your phonebook.
