Electric Power Steering (EPS)
warning light
This warning light illuminates:

[When y
ou set the Engine Start/Stop
button to the ON position.
- The electric powering steering warning light illuminates for about 3
seconds and then goes off.

[ Whenever there is a malfunction with
the electric power steering.
If this occurs, have the vehicle
inspected by an authorized retailer of
Genesis Branded products.
Charging system warning
light
This warning light illuminates:
When there is a malfunction with either
the alt

ernator or electrical charging
system.
If there is a malfunction with either the
alternator
or electrical charging system:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe loca
tion and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and check the alternator drive belt for looseness or
breakage.
If the belt is adjusted properly, there
may be a problem in the electrical
charging system.
If this occurs, have the vehicle
inspected by an authorized retailer of
Genesis Branded products as soon as
possible.
Engine oil pressure warning
light
If the engine oil pressure is low:

[Driv
e carefully to the nearest safe
location and stop your vehicle.

[ Turn the engine off and check the
engine oil level (For more details,
refer to “Engine Oil” section in
chapter 9). If the level is low, add oil as
required.
If the warning light remains on after
adding oil or if oil is not available, have
the vehicle inspected by an authorized
retailer of Genesis Branded products.
(Continued driving with the warning
light on may cause engine failure.)
NOTICE
If the engine is not stopped
immediately after the Engine Oil
Pressure warning light is illuminated
while the engine is running, severe
damage could result.

mildly flammable and
operated at high pressure,
the air conditioning system
should only be serviced

technicians. It is important
that the correct type and
amount of oil and refrigerant
are used.
All refrigerants should be reclaimed
with proper equipment.
Venting refrigerants directly to the
atmosphere is harmful to individuals
and environment. Failure to heed these
warnings can lead to serious injuries.

Driving in Flooded Areas
Avoid driving through flooded areas
unless you are sure the water is no
higher than the bottom of the wheel hub.
Drive through any water slowly. Allow
adequate stopping distance because
brake performance may be reduced.
After driving through water, dry the
brakes by gently applying them several
times while the vehicle is moving slowly.
Highway Driving
Tires
Adjust the tire inflation, as specified.
Under-inflation may overheat or damage
the tires.
Do not install worn-out or damaged tires,
which may reduce traction or fail the
braking operation.
Information
Never over-inflate your tires above the
maximum inflation pressure, as specified
on your tires.
Fuel, engine coolant and engine oil
Driving at higher speeds on the highway
consumes more fuel and is less efficient
than driving at a slower, more moderate
speed. Maintain a moderate speed in
order to conserve fuel when driving on
the highway.
Be sure to check both the engine coolant
level and the engine oil before driving.
Drive belt
A loose or damaged drive belt may
overheat the engine.

WARNING
To prevent compact spare tire failure
and loss of control possibly resulting in
an accident:

[Use the compact spare tire only in an
emergency.

[ NEVER operate your vehicle over
50 mph (80 km/h).

[ Do not exceed the vehicle’s
maximum load rating or the load
carrying capacity shown on the
sidewall of the compact spare tire.

[ Do not use the compact spare tire
continuously. Repair or replace the
original tire as soon as possible to
avoid failure of the compact spare
tire.
When driving with the compact spare tire
mounted to your vehicle:

[ Check the tire pressure after installing
the compact spare tire. The compact
spare tire should be inflated to 60 psi
(420 kPa).

[ Do not take this vehicle through
an automatic car wash while the
compact spare tire is installed.

[ Do not use the compact spare tire on
any other vehicle because this tire
has been designed especially for your
vehicle.

[ The compact spare tire’s tread life is
shorter than a regular tire. Inspect
your compact spare tire regularly and
replace worn compact spare tires with
the same size and design, mounted on
the same wheel.

[ Do not use more than one compact
spare tire at a time.
Information
hen the original tire and wheel are
repaired and reinstalled on the vehicle,
the wheel lug nuts tor ue must be set
correctly. The correct wheel lug nuts
tightening tor ue is ~ lbf ft (11~13
kgf m ).
NOTICE
To prevent damaging the compact
spare tire and your vehicle:

[ Drive slowly enough for the road
conditions to avoid all hazards, such
as a potholes or debris.

[ Avoid driving over obstacles. The
compact spare tire diameter is
smaller than the diameter of a
conventional tire and reduces the
ground clearance approximately
1 in. (25 mm).

[ Do not use tire chains on the
compact spare tire. Because of the
smaller size, a tire chain will not fit
properly.

[ Do not use the compact spare tire
on any other wheels, nor should
standard tires, snow tires, wheel
covers or trim rings be used with the
compact spare wheel.

[ Do not suddenly accelerate or
decelerate 0  25 mph (0  40 km/h)
in any driving mode. It may cause
leakage of transfer oil.
