Your seat belt system includes lap/
shoulder belts in all f ive seating
positions. The f ront seat belts are
also equipped with automatic seat
belt tensioners. All seat belts have an emergency
locking retractor. In normal driving,
the retractor lets you move f reely in
your seat while it keeps some
tension on the belt. During a collision
or sudden stop, the retractor
automatically locks the belt to help
restrain your body.
The seat belt system
includes a light on the
instrument panel to remind you and
your passengers to f asten your seat
belts.
If you turn the ignition switch to ON
(II) without f astening your seat belt,
a beeper will sound and the light will
blink. The beeper will stop af ter
several seconds.
If you do not f asten your seat belt
bef ore the beeper stops, the
indicator light will stop blinking but
remain lit. If you continue driving
without f astening your seat belt, the
indicator will come on and the
beeper will sound at regular intervals. The lap and shoulder belt goes over
your shoulder, across your chest,
and across your hips.
To fasten the belt, insert the latch
plate into the buckle, then tug on the
belt to make sure the buckle is
latched (see page f or how to
properly position the belt).
To unlock the belt, push the red
PRESSbuttononthebuckle.Guide
the belt across your body so that it
retracts completely. Af ter exiting the
vehicle, be sure the belt is out of the
way and will not get closed in the
door.
The seat belts in all positions except
the driver’s have an additional
locking mechanism that must be
activated to secure a child seat (see
page ).

Although Honda does not encourage
children to ride in f ront, this system
is designed to shut of f the side
airbag if a child leans sideways and
the child’s head is in the side airbag
deployment path. When you turn the ignition switch to
ON (II), the indicator should light
brief ly and go out (see page ). If it
doesn’t light, stays on, or comes on
while driving without a passenger in
the front seat, have the system
checked.
If a short adult leans sideways, or a
larger adult slouches and leans
sideways into the side airbag
deployment path, the system may
also shut of f the side airbag.

The instrument panel has many
indicators to give you important
inf ormation about your vehicle.
If you turn the ignition switch to ON
(II) without f astening your seat belt,
the beeper starts to sound, and the
indicator starts to blink. The beeper
stops sounding several seconds later
but the indicator will remain lit.The engine can be severely damaged
if this indicator f lashes or stays on
when the engine is running. For
complete inf ormation, see page .
If this indicator comes on when the
engine is running, the battery is not
being charged. For more inf ormation,
see page .
See page .This indicator has two f unctions:
Itcomesonwhenyouturnthe
ignition switch to ON (II). It is a
reminder to check the parking
brake. If you drive at certain
speeds without f ully releasing the
parking brake, the beeper sounds
continuously. Driving with the
parking brake not f ully released
can damage the brakes and tires.
If you drive without your seat belt
f astened, the indicator remains on
and the beeper will sound every f ew
seconds.
If it remains lit af ter you f ully
release the parking brake while
the engine is running, or if it
comes on while driving, there
could be a problem with the brake
system. For complete inf ormation,
see page .

On all V6 models
Only on models equipped with side airbags
This indicator lights brief ly when
you turn the ignition switch to ON
(II). If it comes on at any other time,
it indicates a potential problem with
your f ront airbags. This indicator will
also alert you to a potential problem
with your side airbags, passenger’s
side airbag automatic cutoff system,
side curtain airbags, automatic seat
belt tensioners, driver’s seat position
sensor, or f ront passenger’s weight
sensors. For more inf ormation, see
page . This indicator normally comes on f or
a f ew seconds when you turn the
ignition switch to ON (II), and when
the ignition switch is turned to
START (III). If it comes on at any
other time, there is a problem in the
ABS. If this happens, have your
vehicle checked by your Honda
dealer. With the indicator on, your
vehicle still has normal braking
ability but no anti-lock. For complete
inf ormation, see page .
This indicator lights when you turn
the ignition switch to ON (II). If it
comes on at any other time, it
indicates that the passenger’s side

The lef t or right turn signal indicator
blinks when you signal a lane change
or turn. If the indicators do not blink,
or if they blink rapidly, it usually
means one of the turn signal bulbs is
burned out (see pages and ).
Replace the bulb as soon as possible,
since other drivers cannot see that
you are signaling.
WhenyouturnontheHazard
Warning button, both turn signal
indicators blink. All turn signals on
the outside of the vehicle should
flash. This indicator reminds you that the
exterior lights are on. It comes on
when the light switch is in either the
or position. If you turn the
ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I)
or LOCK (0) without turning of f the
light switch, this indicator will
remain on. A reminder chime will
also sound when you open the driver’s
door.
This indicator comes on as a

The odometer and the outside
temperature indicator use the same
display. To switch the display
between the odometer and the
outside temperature, press the
Select/Reset knob. When you turn
the ignition switch to ON (II), what
you last selected is displayed. The odometer shows the total dis-
tance your vehicle has been driven.
It measures miles in U.S. models and
kilometers in Canadian models.
It is illegal under U.S. f ederal law and
Canadian provincial regulations to
disconnect, reset, or alter the
odometer with the intent to change
the number of miles or kilometers
indicated.This indicator displays the outside
temperature in Fahrenheit (U.S.
models) or Centigrade (Canadian
models). To see the outside
temperature, press and release the
Select/Reset knob until the
temperature is displayed.
The temperature sensor is in the
f ront bumper. Theref ore, the
temperature reading can be af f ected
by heat ref lection f rom the road
surf ace, engine heat, and the
exhaust f rom surrounding traf f ic.
This can cause an incorrect
temperature reading when your
speed is under 19 mph (30 km/h).
When you start your trip, the sensor
is not f ully acclimatized, theref ore it
may take several minutes until the
proper temperature is displayed.
