■Manual switching between high-beam and low-beam
If you want to manually switch the headlights between high beam and low beam,
follow either of the proced ures below. Note that when you do this, the auto high-
beam indicator will turn off and the auto high-beam will be deactivated.
Using the lever:
Pull the lever toward you for flashi ng the high beams then release it.
u To reactivate the auto high-beam, follo w either of the procedures below and
the auto high-beam indicator will come on.
• Pull the lever towards you and release it.
• Turn the light switch to and then to AUTO when the lever is in the low beam
position.
Using the light switch:
Turn the light switch to . u To reactivate the auto high-be am, turn the light switch to AUTO when the
lever is in the low beam position, and the auto high-beam indicator will come

You can turn the auto high- beam system on and off.

If the Some driver assist systems cannot operate:
Camera temperature too high message appears:
•Use the climate control system to cool down the
interior and, if necessary, also use defroster mode
with the airflow directed toward the camera.
•Start driving the vehicle to lower the windshield
temperature, which cool s down the area around
the camera.
If the Some driver assist systems cannot operate:
Clean front windshield or poor viewing
condition. message appears:
•Park your vehicle in a safe place, and make sure the
windshield is clean.
Clean the windshield if it is dirty. If the message
does not disappear after dr iven for a while, have
your vehicle checked by a dealer.

The seat heaters can be used when the power
mode is in ON.
Press the seat heater button:
Once - The HI setting (three indicators on)
Twice - The MID setting (two indicators on)
Three times - The LO setting (one indicator on)
Four times - The OFF se tting (no indicators on)
When the power mode is turned on after it is
turned off, the previous setting is maintained.
Press the AUTO button:
Both the air conditioner and seat temperature
will automatically change to the setting most
suitable to the ambient environment. u When any seat heater button is pressed,
settings will switch to manual mode.
■Front Seat Heaters*1Front Seat Heaters*
Do not use the seat heaters even in LO when the
engine is off. Under such conditions, the battery may
be weakened, making the engine difficult to start.
After a certain period of time, the strength setting for
the front seat heaters will automatically be reduced
by one level at a ti me until the front seat heaters shut
off. The elapsed time varies according to the interior
environment.
As time passes, the set temperature will fall, and
eventually the seat heater will shut off.
The seat heater may turn on if sensors detect weight
on the passenger seat due to luggage, etc.
To prevent automatic activation, you can turn off
automatic climate control for the front seat. 2 Vehicle Settings P. 126

Heat induced burns are possible when
using seat heaters.
Persons with a diminished ability to sense
temperature (e.g., persons with diabetes,
lowerlimb nerve damage, or paralysis) or
with sensitive skin should not use seat
heaters.

Climate Control System
Using Automatic Climate Control
The automatic climate control system maintains the interior temperature you select.
The system also selects the proper mix of heat ed or cooled air that raises or lowers
the interior temperature to your pr eference as quickly as possible.
Use the system when the engine is running.
1. Press the AUTO button.
2. Adjust the interior temperature using the dr iver’s side or passenger’s side control
dial.
3. Press the (ON/OFF) button to cancel.1Using Automatic Climate Control
If any buttons are presse d while using the climate
control system in auto, the function of the button
that was pressed will take priority.
The auto button indicator
*/AUTO indicator* will go
off, but functions unrelated to the button that was
pressed will be cont rolled automatically.
During idle-stops, air-conditioning is suspended, and
only the blower remains active.
If you do not want air-cond itioning suspended, press
the Auto Idle Stop OFF button to cancel idle-stop.
To prevent cold air from bl owing in from outside, the
fan may not start i mmediately when the AUTO
button is pressed.
If the interior is very warm, you can cool it down
more rapidly by partial ly opening the windows,
turning the system on auto, and setting the
temperature to low. Change the fresh air mode to
recirculation mode until the temperature cools down.
When you set the temperat ure to the lower or upper
limit, Lo or Hi is displayed.
Pressing the button switches the climate
control system between on and off. When turned on,
the system returns to your last selection.
While ECON mode is active, the climate control

■Switching between the recirculation and fresh air modes
Press the (recirculation) button and switch the mode depending on
environmental conditions.
Recirculation mode (indicator on): Recirculates air from the vehicle’s interior through
the system.
Fresh air mode (indicator off): Maintains outside ventilation. Keep the system in
fresh air mode in normal situations.
Pressing the button turns the air
conditioning system on and automatically
switches the system to fresh air mode.
Press the button again to turn off, the
system returns to the previous settings.
■Defrosting the Windshield and Windows1Defrosting the Windshield and Windows
For your safety, make sure you have a clear view
through all the windows before driving.
Do not set the temperatur e near the upper or lower
limit.
When cold air hits the windshield, the outside of the
windshield may fog up.
If you press the button during Auto Idle Stop, the
engine restarts automatically.

You can set the temperature synchronously for the driver’s side and the passenger’s
side in synchronization mode.
1. Press the SYNC button.
u The system will switch to the synchronization mode.
2. Adjust the temperature using the driv er’s side temperature control dial.
Press the SYNC button or adjust the interior temp erature using the passenger’s side
control dial to return to dual mode.

Starting the Engine
1.Make sure the parking brake is applied.
u The parking brake and brake system
indicator (red) comes on for 30 seconds
when you pull up the electric parking
brake switch.
2. Check that the tr ansmission is in
(P, then
depress the brake pedal.
u Although it is possible to start the vehicle
in
(N, it is safer to start it in (P.
3. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button
without depressing the accelerator pedal.
1Starting the Engine
Keep your foot firmly on the brake pedal when
starting the engine.
The engine is harder to st art in cold weather and in
thinner air found at altit udes above 8,000 feet (2,400
meters).
When starting the engine in cold weather, turn off all
electrical accessories such as the lights, climate
control system and rear de fogger in order to reduce
battery drain.
If you live in a region where winter is extremely cold,
an engine block heater will improve starting and
warming of the engine. Consult a dealer for details.
If the exhaust system sounds abnormal or you can
smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle, have your vehicle
checked by a dealer. There may be a problem with
the engine or exhaust system.
The immobilizer system pr otects your vehicle from
theft.
If an improperly c oded device is used, the engine’s

■To stop the engine
Press and hold the button for one
second.
If the engine stops successfully, the exterior
lights flash once.
When the keyless remote is out of the keyless
access system range, the exterior lights will
not flash.
The engine will not stop. u Go within the rang e, and try again.1Remote Engine Start
The engine may stop whil e it is running if:
•You do not start the vehicl e within 10 minutes of
starting the engine with the keyless remote.
•The engine is stopped by using the keyless remote.•The security system alarm is activated.
•The door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The hood is open.•The trunk, or any door is unlocked without using
the keyless remote or keyless access system.
•You press the shift lever release button.•The engine coolant temper ature is extremely high.
•The engine oil pressure is low.
•The malfunction indicator la mp comes on if there is
a problem with the emissions control systems.
•The ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed while
a door has been opened without using the keyless
remote or keyless access system.
While the engine is running, the vehicle will
automatically preconditi on inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
•The climate control system is activated in
recirculation mode.
When it is cold outside:
•The defroster is activated at a moderately warm
temperature.
•The rear defogger, he ated door mirrors*, and front
seat heaters* are activated.
