39. Remove the left and right front mount and bracket'
MOUNT/BRACKET
40. Remove the rear mount bracket.
41. Remove the uPPsr bracket.
42. Remove the transmission mount bracket, then
remove the transmission mount.

Check that the engine/transmission is completely
free of vacuum hoses, fuel and coolant hoses and
electricalwiring.
Slowly raise the engine approximately 150 mm (6 in)'
Check once again that all hoses and wires are discon-
nected from the engine^ransmission
Raise the engine all the way, and remove it from the
car.

Pull the transmission away from the engine until it
clears the mainshaft. then lower it on the transmis-
sion jack.
CAUTION: Take caro not to b6nd tho clutch lin€.

Installation
Install the transmission assembly in the reverse order of
removal.
Before installing, check that the two dowel pins are
installed in the clutch housing.
When installing the starter cable, make sure that the
crimped side of the ring terminal is facing out (see
section 23).
Apply grease to the parts as shown, then install the
release fork and release bearing,
NOTE: Use only Super High Temp Urea Grease
(P/N 08798 - 9002).

.Inspectrubberpartsforwearanddamagewhendisassembling;replaceanywornordamagedparts.
. Install the clip as shown.
. Turn the boot so the hole is facing down as shown.. Make sure the boot is installed on the shift rod.

and a jack stand under the engine.

mission mounting bolts

23. Pull the transmission away from the engine until it
clears the mainshaft, then lower it on the transmis-
sion jack.

6. Remove the transmission housing mounting bolts
and the rear engine mounting bolt.
Disconnect the shift control solenoid, the linear sole-
noid, and the mainshaft speed sensor connectors'7.

8. Remove the drain plug, and drain the automatic
transmission fluid (ATF). Reinstall the drain plug
with a new sealing washer.

9. Remove the splash shield.
Replace.

19. Remove the engine stiffener and the torque con-
verter cover.
Remove the eight drive plate bolts one at a tlme
while rotating the crankshaft pulley.
Remove the distributor.
Attach a hoisting bracket to the engine, then lift the
engine slightly.
