Exhaust Gas Hazard
Carbon Monoxide Gas
The engine exhaust from this vehicle contains carbon monoxide, a colorless,
odorless, and highly toxic gas. As long as you properly maintain your vehicle, carbon
monoxide gas will not get into the interior.
■Have the exhaust system in spected for leaks whenever
• The exhaust system is m aking an unusual noise.
• The exhaust system may have been damaged.
• The vehicle is raised for an oil change.
When you operate a vehicle with the hatc h open, airflow can pull exhaust gas into
the interior and create a hazardous condition. If you must drive with the hatch open,
open all the windows and set the climate control system as shown below.
1. Select the fresh air mode.
2. Select the mode.
3. Set the fan speed to high.
4. Set the temperature control to a comfortable setting.
Adjust the climate control system in the same manner if you sit in your parked
vehicle with the engine running.
1 Carbon Monoxide Gas
An enclosed area such as a garage can quickly fill up
with carbon monoxide gas.
Do not run the engine with the garage door closed.
Even when the garage door is open, drive out of the
garage immediately afte r starting the engine.
3WARNING
Carbon monoxide gas is toxic.
Breathing it can cause unconsciousness and
even kill you.
Avoid any enclosed areas or activities that
expose you to carbon monoxide.

■When charging does not start
Perform one of the solutions in the following table.

Wireless Charger*
This system consumes a lot of power. Do not use the
system for a long time when the engine is not
running. This may weaken the battery, making it
difficult to start the engine.
When using the wireless charger, check the user's manual
that came with the compatible device you want to charge.
3CAUTION
Metal objects between the charge pad
and the device to be charged will get
hot and can burn you.
• Always remove foreign objects from
the charge pad before charging the
device.
• Be sure the surface is clear of dust and
other debris before charging.
• Do not spill liquids (i. e. water, drinks,
etc.) on the charger and the device.
• Do not use oil, grease, alcohol,
benzine or thinner for cleaning the
charge pad.
• Do not cover the system with towels,
clothing, or other objects while
charging etc.
• Avoid spraying aerosols which may
come in contact with the charge pad
surface.

■To stop the engine
Press and hold the button for one
second.
If the engine stops succ essfully, the exterior
lights flash once.
When the remote is out of the keyless access
system range, the exterior lights will not flash.
The engine will not stop. u Go within the range, and try again.1Remote Engine Start*
The engine may stop whil e it is running if:•You do not start the vehicl e within 10 minutes of
starting the engine with the keyless remote.
•The engine is stopped by using the keyless remote.•The security system alarm is not set.
•The door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The hood is open, or any door, or the hatch is
unlocked.
•You press the shift lever release button.
•The engine coolant temper ature is extremely high.•The battery is low.
•The engine oil pressure is low.
•The malfunction indicator la mp comes on if there is
a problem with the emissions control systems.
While the engine is running, the vehicle will
automatically preconditi on inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
•The climate control system is activated in
recirculation mode.
When it is cold outside:
•The defroster is activated at a moderately warm
temperature.
•The rear defogger, heated door mirrors*, front seat
heaters* and heated steering wheel* are activated.

Turbo Engine Vehicle*
Handling Precautions
The turbocharger is a high-precision device to obtain greater horsepower by
delivering a large volume of compressed air into the engine using a turbine driven by
the engine's exhaust gas pressure.
• When the engine is cold just after starting, avoid hard or sudden acceleration.
• Always replace the engine oi l and engine oil filter according to the Maintenance
Minder
TM. The turbine rotates at very high speeds over 100,000 rpm and its
temperature reaches over 1,292°F (700°C). It is lubricated and cooled by engine
oil. If you fail to replace the engine oil and filter at the scheduled distance or
interval, deteriorated engine oil may caus e failure such as sticking and abnormal
noise of the turbine bearing.

The Engine temperature too hot. Do not drive.
Allow engine to cool. or Engine temperature
near limit. Avoid heavy acceleration and high

information interface when you restart the engine

This is normal. The message goes off after you idle or
drive the vehicle for about one minute.
The temperature gauge pointer is at the mark
