383 uu When Driving u Transmission
Driving
If there is a strong impact with something under the vehicle, stop in a safe location.
Check the underside of the vehicle for damage or any fluid leaks, and contact an
authorized Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid dealer.
Transmission As with a conventional gasoline-powered ve hicle with an auto matic transmission,
this vehicle will creep.
Keep the brake pedal firmly depressed when stopped.
Quickly depressing the accelerator pedal wh ile driving uphill may cause the vehicle
to react similar to an automatic transmissio n vehicle, unexpected ly increasing vehicle
speed. Depress the accelerator pedal carefu lly, especially on slippery roads and
curves.■ Other Precautions
■ Creeping
■ Kickdown 1 Precautions While Driving
Do not press the ( N
button, as you will lose
regenerative braking (and ac celeration) performance.
During the first 600 miles (1,000 km) of operation,
avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so
as to not damage the engine or powertrain.
Avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles (300 km).
You should also follow this when the brake pads are
replaced.19 CLARITY PHEV-31TRW6100.book 383 ページ 2018年10月25日 木曜日 午後2時29分

494 uu Maintenance Under the Hood u Transmission Fluid
Maintenance Transmission Fluid Have an authorized Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid dealer check the fluid level and
replace if necessary.
Do not attempt to check or change the transmission fluid yourself.
Brake Fluid The fluid level should be between the MIN
and MAX marks on the side of the reserve
tank.■ Transmission Fluid Specified fluid: Honda ATF DW-1 (automatic transmission fluid)
Specified fluid: Honda Heavy Duty Brake Fluid DOT 3
■ Checking the Brake Fluid 1 Transmission Fluid NOTICE
Do not mix Honda ATF DW-1 with other
transmission fluids.
Using a transmission flui d other than Honda ATF
DW-1 may adversely af fect the operation and
durability of your vehicle’ s transmission, and damage
the transmission.
Any damage caused by usi ng a transmission fluid that
is not equivalent to Honda ATF DW-1 is not covered
by Honda’s new vehi cle limited warranty.
1 Brake Fluid NOTICE
Brake fluid marked DOT 5 is not compatible with your
vehicle’s braking system and can cause extensive
damage.
If the specified brake fluid is not available, you should
use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid from a sealed
container as a tem porary replacement.
Using any non-Honda brake fluid can cause corrosion
and decrease the longevity of the system. Have the
brake system flushed and re filled with Honda Heavy
Duty Brake Fluid DOT 3 as soon as possible.
If the brake fluid level is at or below the MIN mark,
have an authorized Hond a Clarity Plug-In Hybrid
dealer inspect the vehicle for leaks or worn brake
pads as soon as possible.Brake Reserve Tank MAX
