Push the button between the center
vents to turn on the hazard warning
lights (f our-way f lashers). This
causes all outside turn signals and
both indicators in the instrument
panel to f lash. Use the hazard
warning lights if you need to park in
a dangerous area near heavy traffic,
or if your vehicle is disabled.The rear window def ogger clears f og,
frost,andthinicefromthewindow.
Push the def ogger button to turn it
onandoff.Pushingthisbuttonalso
turns the mirror heaters on and of f .
The indicator in the button comes on
to show the def ogger is on. If you do
not turn it of f , the def ogger will shut
itself of f af ter 10 to 30 minutes
(depending on the ambient
temperature). It also shuts of f when
you turn of f the ignition switch. You have to turn it on again when you
restart the vehicle.
The def ogger will shut itself of f
within about 20 minutes.
Make sure the rear window is clear
and you have good visibility bef ore
starting to drive.
The def ogger wires on the inside of
the rear window can be accidentally
damaged. When cleaning the glass,
always wipe side-to-side.
Pushing this button also turns the
mirror heaters on or of f . For more
inf ormation, see page .

Follow these precautions when using
the seat heaters:If the engine is lef t idling f or an
extended period, do not use the
seat heaters, even on the LO
setting. It can weaken the battery,
causing hard starting. Donotusetheseatheaterinthe
HI setting f or an extended period,
because it draws large amounts of
current f rom battery.
Both f ront seats are equipped with
seat heaters. Because of the sensors
f or the side airbag cutof f system,
there is no heater in the passenger’s
seat-back. The ignition switch must
be in the ON (II) position to use the
heaters. To use the heaters, press the seat
heater switch. The indicator (amber)
in the switch will come on. There are
three settings in the heaters: HI, LO,
and OFF.
When you press the seat heater
switch once, the heater is set to HI.
Select LO by pressing the seat
heater switch again. To shut down
the heater, press the seats heater
switch until the indicators go of f . The heater runs continuously and
does not automatically turn of f
af ter a period of time.

The outside mirrors are heated to
remove fog and frost. With the
ignition switch in the ON (II)
position, turn on the heaters by
pressing the button. The indicator in
the button comes on as a reminder.
Press the button again to turn the
heaters off. Pressing this button also
turns the rear window def ogger on
and off.To apply the parking brake, push the
pedal down with your f oot. To
release it, push on the pedal again.
The parking brake indicator on the
instrument panel should go out when
the parking brake is f ully released
(see page ).
If the outside temperature is below
41°F (5°C), the heated mirror
function will come on automatically
f or 10 minutes when you turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position.

Cool air is diverted from the air
conditioning system into the center
pocket.
When the Cool Box is not in use,
turn it of f by pressing the Cool Box
switch again. The indicator in the
switch will go out.Setting the fan speed to high will
help keep the beverages cool at
high cabin temperature.
The system continues to cool the
Cool Box even when the heater is
turned on.
To clean the Cool Box, wipe it with
a cloth dampened with a solution
of mild soap and lukewarm water.Interior Convenience Items210NOTE: Only keep unopened cans or
resealable containers in the Cool
Box. Spilled liquids can damage the
upholstery and electrical components
in or around the Cool Box.
The Cool Box is not a ref rigerator. It
will only keep already chilled
beverages cool.
Do not put loose ice in the Cool Box.
Turn of f the Cool Box switch when
you store items such as CDs, camera,
etc. in the Cool Box.
The air conditioning system will
automatically come on when the
Cool Box is turned on with the Cool
Box switch.If the air conditioning system is
turned of f while the Cool Box is in
use, the Cool Box f unction is
automatically turned of f .
If you turn the ignition switch to the
LOCK (0) position when the cool box
is in use, the cool box will be
automatically turned of f .

Air f lows f rom the def roster
vents at the base of the windshield. Airf low is divided between
the f loor vents and def roster vents at
the base of the windshield. Air f lows f rom the f loor
vents. When you select , the
system automatically switches to
f resh air mode.
Airf low is divided between
the vents in the dashboard and the
f loor vents. Air flows from the center
and corner vents in the dashboard. Use the mode control buttons to
select the vents air flows from. Some
air will f low f rom the dashboard
corner vents in all modes. Pushing this button also turns the
power mirror heaters on and of f . This button turns the rear window
def ogger on and of f (see page ). When you select , the system
automatically switches to f resh air
mode and turns on the A/C. For
f aster def rosting, manually set the
fanspeedtohigh.Youcanalso
increase airf low to the windshield by
closing the corner vents on the
dashboard.
When you turn of f by
pressing the button again, the
system returns to its former settings.
For your saf ety, make sure you have
a clear view through all the windows
bef ore driving.
When you select or ,
the system automatically switches to
Fresh Air mode and turns on the
A/C. In these modes, the A/C stays
on with the indicator off.
This button directs the main airflow
to the windshield for faster
def rosting. It also overrides any
mode selection you may have made.

Air conditioning places an extra load
on the engine. Watch the engine
coolant temperature gauge (see page). If it moves near the red mark,
turn of f the A/C until the gauge
reads normally.
Pressing the A/C button turns the
air conditioning ON and OFF. The
indicator in the button comes on
when the A/C is ON.
The heater uses engine coolant to
warm the air. If the engine is cold, it
will be several minutes bef ore you
f eel warm air coming f rom the
system. Select and fresh air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed.
Adjust the warmth of the air with
the temperature control dial.
The ventilation system draws in
outside air, circulates it through the
interior, then exhausts it through
vents near the rear side panels.
Set the temperature to the lower
limit.
Make sure the A/C is of f .
Select and fresh air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed.
The system automatically turns on
the A/C and switches to
recirculation mode (see page to
use this setting). Air f lows f rom the
center and side vents in the
dashboard. Pressing the , the
MAX A/C button, or the mode
control button cancels MAX A/C,
but the A/C stays on.
Make sure the temperature is set
to the lower limit.
Select .
If the outside air is humid, select
recirculation mode. If the outside
air is dry, select f resh air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed.you can
cool it down more rapidly by partially
opening the windows, turning on the
air conditioning, and setting the f an
to maximum speed in f resh air mode. 1.

To remove f og f rom the inside of the
windows:Set the f an to high.
Select . The system
automatically switches to the fresh
air mode and turns on the A/C.
The indicator in the A/C button
will not come on (LX and Canadian
DX models), or the A/C ON
indicator will not come on (EX,
EX-L, Touring, and Canadian SE
models), if the A/C was of f to
start with.
Adjust the temperature so the
airflow feels warm.
Select to help clear the
rear window.
When you switch to another mode
f rom , the A/C turns of f . But
if it was on to start with, it stays on.
Air conditioning, as it cools, removes
moisture from the air. When used in
combination with the heater, it
makes the interior warm and dry.
Switch the f an on.
Turn on the air conditioning.
Select and fresh air mode.
Adjust the temperature to your
pref erence.
This setting is suitable f or all driving
conditions whenever the outside
temperature is above 32°F (0°C).
Set the f an to the desired speed.
Select the MAX A/C mode.
The system automatically turns on
the A/C, selects and
switches to recirculation mode.
Make sure the temperature is set
to maximum cool.
