This indicator has two f unctions:
This indicator also comes on when
the battery needs to be replaced
along with a ‘‘REPLACE
BATTERY’’ message on the multi-
inf ormation display or a
‘‘CHANGE BATT’’ message on
the inf ormation display, depending
on models. For more inf ormation,
see page . If it comes on when the engine is
running, the battery is not being
charged, and you will see a
‘‘CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM’’
message on the multi-inf ormation
display or a ‘‘CHECK CHARGE
SYSTEM’’ message on the

Select the outside temperature
display by pressing and releasing the
select/reset knob. Press and hold
the same knob f or a f ew seconds to
enter this setting, then turn it to
adjust the temperature. The
f ollowing sequence will appear f or
each:0,1,2,3,4,5, 5, 4, 3, 2,
1,0(U.S.)or0,1,2,3, 3, 2,
1, 0 (Canada). IGN ON (II) Immediately turn of f
all electrical devices (interior lights,
air conditioning, audio, heated seats,
etc.). Try not to operate other
electrically operated controls such as
the power windows. Driving the
vehicle will recharge the battery. If
the message continues to display
while driving, see your dealer.
IGN ACCESSORY (I) or LOCK (0)
Follow the message and turn of f
all electrical devices. Driving the
vehicle will recharge the battery,
however the vehicle may not start. If
it does not start, see jump starting
(see page ), or contact your
dealer.
When the temperature reaches the
desired value, release the select/
reset knob. You should see the new
outside temperature displayed.
In certain weather conditions,
temperature readings near f reezing
(32°F, 0°C) could mean that ice is
f orming on the road surf ace. Whenthebattery’sstateof chargeis
low, the vehicle’s battery
management system triggers a
‘‘BATT LOW’’ message if the
ignition switch is on or of f .
Depending on how low the battery’s
state of charge dropped and how
long it remained low, these
messages may occur f requently. It
may take a number of trips to
sufficiently recharge the battery and
the messages to no longer appear.

Depending on how low the battery’s

These keys contain electronic
circuits that are activated by the
immobilizer system. They will not
work to start the engine if the
circuits are damaged.Protect the keys f rom direct
sunlight, high temperature, and
high humidity.
Donotdropthekeysorsetheavy
objects on them.
Keep the keys away f rom liquids.
If they get wet, dry them
immediately with a sof t cloth.
The valet key does not contain a
battery. Do not try to take it apart. The immobilizer system protects
your vehicle f rom thef t. If an
improperly coded key (or other
device) is used, the engine’s f uel
system is disabled.
When you turn the ignition switch to
the ON (II) position, the immobilizer
system indicator should come on
brief ly, then go of f . If the indicator
starts to blink, it means the system
does not recognize the coding of the
key. Turn the ignition switch to the
LOCK (0) position, remove the key,
reinsert it, and turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position again.

If it takes several pushes on the
button to lock or unlock the doors
and the tailgate, replace the battery
as soon as possible.
Battery type: CR1616
To replace the battery: Remove the screw at the base of
the transmitter with a small
Phillips-head screwdriver. Inside the transmitter, separate
the inner cover f rom the keypad
by releasing the two tabs on the
cover. Separate the transmitter by prying
its middle seam with your
f ingernail.Be caref ul when removing
this screw as the head of the screw
can strip out. Remove the old battery, and insert
a new battery into the back of the
cover with the side f acing down.
An improperly disposed of battery
can hurt the environment.
Always conf irm local regulations
for battery disposal.
Install the parts in reverse order.

Inside the transmitter, separate
the inner cover f rom the keypad

cover.
To replace the battery:

Unlocks the driver’s door or all doorsand tailgate when the ignition switch ismoved out of the ON (II) position.
Make sure the shif t lever is in the
Park (P) position.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position, and make sure to
close the driver’s door. Push and hold the brake pedal,
then move the shift lever out of
the Park (P) position.
Pushandholdtherearof the
master door lock switch on the
driver’s door. You will hear a click.
Continue to hold the switch:
Until you hear another click
(af ter about 5 seconds) to
activate the driver’s door unlock
feature.
Or, until you hear two more
clicks (af ter about 10 seconds)
to activate all doors and tailgate
unlock f eature. Release the switch, and within 20
seconds, turn the ignition switch
to the ACCESSORY (I) position.
Move the shift lever to the Park
(P) position.
Turn the ignition switch to the
LOCK (0) position.
Even if your vehicle’s battery is
removed or goes dead, the system
keeps the auto door lock/unlock
setting which you selected.

The power tailgate has an auto-
reverse f eature. If it meets
resistance while opening or closing,
it will beep three times and reverse
direction. However, the tailgate may
not reverse immediately. Always
make sure passengers and objects
are clear of the tailgate before
opening or closing it.Also check that passengers,
especially children, do not have their
hands on the edge of the tailgate or
on the tailgate sill. The auto reverse
featurestopsworkingwhenthe
tailgate is about to latch so the motor
can pull the tailgate shut.
If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected, goes dead, or the f use
is removed while the tailgate is f ully
open, the power tailgate needs to be
reset. After connecting the battery
or installing the f use, close the
tailgate f ully by hand.
The power tailgate may not open or
close under the these conditions:
Whenthetailgateortheroof is
covered with snow or ice. Do not install any accessories on the
tailgate. It may cause the tailgate to
malf unction. If there is snow or ice
on the tailgate, make sure to remove
it bef ore you operate the tailgate.
When the vehicle is swayed in a
strong wind. The vehicle is parked on a steep
hill. If you push the tailgate release
button inside the handle while the
tailgate is opening or closing, the
power tailgate f unction shuts OFF.
You need to open or close it the rest
of the way manually.
The tailgate has sensors on both
sides. Be caref ul not to damage them.
If the sensors are damaged, the
power tailgate does not f unction

Closing a power tailgate while
anyone is in the path of the
tailgate can cause serious
injury.
Make sure everyone is clear
before closing the power
tailgate.

If the power sliding door indicator
comesonandstayson,thereisa
problem in the system. Turn the
MAIN switch to OFF, and have the
system inspected by a dealer.
If there is a problem in the power
sliding door system, you will see a
‘‘CHECK LEFT SLIDING DOOR’’ or
‘‘CHECK RIGHT SLIDING DOOR’’
message on the multi-information
display (see page ). If this
message stays on, turn the MAIN
switch to OFF, and have the system
inspected by your dealer.
Each sliding door has a pinch sensor
on the f ront edge. Do not damage
this sensor, or the power sliding door
may not operate properly.
If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected or goes dead while the
sliding door is open, the power
sliding door system needs to be reset.
Af ter reconnecting the battery, close
the sliding door completely by hand.
If the power sliding door is closed,
the system will reset itself
automatically once the battery has
been reconnected.
If the power sliding door does not
operate properly af ter resetting,
have your vehicle checked by your
dealer.
