3. Place the end of the
spanner wrench on the
nut and then turn
the wheel wrench
counterclockwise to
loosen the nut
holding the tire to
the carrier.
4. Pull off the tire retainer plate and set it aside.
Remove the spare tire from the wheel carrier.
5. Put the spare tire near the at tire.The tools you’ll be using to nish changing a at tire are

Extension
E. Wheel Wrench
F. Ratchet
Before proceeding, be sure to set the wheel blocks at
the appropriate tires as shown previously.

Removing the
Spare-Tire-Carrier-Mounted Spare Tire
The outside-mounted spare tire is attached to the
tire carrier. To remove the spare tire, do the following:
1. Open the tire carrier. SeeTailgate (SUT) on
page 2-16for tire carrier operation.
2. Unscrew the wingnut on the back of the tire carrier.3. Pull off the license plate holder from the spare tire.
4. Slide the ratchet onto the wheel wrench with the
DOWN mark facing you.

5. Turn the ratchet counterclockwise to loosen the
wheel nuts.
6. Remove the three wheel nuts holding the spare tire
onto the tire carrier.
7. Pull off and gently lower the spare tire to the
ground. Set it next to the at tire.The tools you’ll be using to nish changing a at tire
include the following:
A. Jack
B. Wheel Blocks
C. Jack HandleD. Jack Handle

E. Wheel Wrench
F. Ratchet
