B265A01MC-GAT Fuel Filter Warning Light (Diesel Engine)
This warning light illuminates for 6 sec- onds after the ignition switch is set tothe "ON" position or after the engine is started, it will go out. If it lights up while the engine is running, it indicates thatwater has accumulated inside the fuel filter. If this happens, remove the water from the fuel filter. (Refer to "6-25 page")

Diesel Preheat Indicator Light
The indicator light illuminates amber when the ignition switch is placed at the"ON" position. The engine can be started after the preheat indicator light goes off. The illuminating time varies with thewater temperature, air temperature and battery condition. NOTE: If the engine were not started within 10 seconds after the preheating is completed, turn the ignition key once more to the "LOCK" position, andthen to the "ON" position, in order to preheat again.
! CAUTION:
If the preheat indicator light contin- ues to illuminate or flash on and off after the engine has warmed up orwhile driving, check the system by an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.
! CAUTION:
When the fuel filter warning light is illuminated, engine power (vehicle speed & idle speed) may decrease. If you keep driving with the warninglight on, you can damage your vehicle's engine parts and injection system of the Common Rail. If thisoccurs, have your vehicle checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. B900A01A-GAT ACOUSTIC WARNING SOUND (If Installed) The acoustic warning chime sounds when the tail lights are on and the door in driver side is open. This prevents thebattery from discharging when the car is left with the tail lights on. The chime sounds until the tail lights are turned off.
SB210U1-G OVER SPEED WARNING BUZZER (If Installed) When the car speed is in excess of 120 km/h (75 mph), a buzzer will sound to warn you.

Overspeed warning light (If Installed)
If you drive with the speed of 120 km/h or more, the overspeed warning lightwill blink. This is to prevent you from driving your vehicle with overspeed.

B270A01A-AAT BRAKE PAD WEAR WARNING SOUND The front disc brake pads have wear indicators that should make a high- pitched squealing or scraping noisewhen new pads are needed. The sound may come and go or be heard all the time when the vehicle is moving. It mayalso be heard when the brake pedal is pushed down firmly. Excessive rotor damage will result if the worn pads arenot replaced. See your Hyundai dealer immediately.

WARNING:

The tachometer registers the speed of your engine in revolutions per minute (rpm).!
CAUTION:
The engine should not be raced to such a speed that the needle enters the red zone on the tachometer face.This can cause severe engine dam- age and may void your warranty.
The needle on the engine coolant tem- perature gauge should stay in the nor-mal range. If it moves across the dial to "H" (HOT), pull over and stop as soon as possible and turn off the engine.Then open the hood and, after the engine has cooled, check the coolant level and the water pump drive belt. Ifyou suspect cooling system trouble, have your cooling system checked by a Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.

To flash the headlights, pull the switch lever toward you, then release it. The headlights can be flashed even thoughthe headlight switch is in the "OFF" position.

B340F01MC-GAT Daytime Running Lights (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with daytime running lights. The daytime running lights are used to improve visibility for oncoming traffic. Your vehicle daytimerunning lights are designed to remain on continuously when the engine is operat- ing even though the headlight switch isin the "OFF" position. If you turn on the tail lights when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position, the daytime runninglights will go off. The system automatically turns offthe headlights and parking lights whenthe driver removes the ignition key and opens the driver- side door.
o With this feature, the parking light
will be turned off automatically if thedriver parks on the side of road at night.If necessary, to keep the lights on when the ignition key is removed, perform the following :
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the parking lights OFF andON again using the light switch on the steering column.

77FOG LIGHT SWITCH
B360B01FC-GAT Front Fog Light Switch (If Installed) To turn on the front fog lights, push the switch in the "ON" position. They will light when the headlight switch is in thefirst or second position.
CAUTION:
Do not clean the inner side of the rearwindow glass with an abrasive type of glass cleaner or use a scraper to remove foreign deposits from theinner surface of the glass as this may cause damage to the defroster ele- ments. NOTE: The engine must be running for the rear window defroster to operate.

REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH
B380A01HP-AAT The rear window defroster and heated outside rearview mirrors are turned on by pushing in the switch. To turn thedefroster off, push the switch a second time. The rear window defroster auto- matically turns itself off after about 20minutes. To restart the defroster cycle, push in the switch again after it has turned itself off.

3. Pull the support rod from the hood.

Make sure that the support rod has been released prior to closing thehood.

Before closing the hood, return the support rod to its clip to prevent it fromrattling. Lower the hood until it is about 1 ft. (30 cm) above the closed position and let it drop. Make sure that it locksinto place.
!WARNING:
o Always double check to be sure that the hood is firmly latched before driving away. If it is not latched, the hood could fly openwhile the vehicle is being driven, causing a total loss of visibility, which might result in an accident.
o The support rod must be inserted completely into the hole providedin the hood whenever you inspectthe engine compartment. This will prevent the hood from falling and possibly injuring you.
o Do not move the vehicle with the hood in the raised position, asvision is obstructed and the hoodcould fall or be damaged.

If you must re-enter the vehicle, you should once again elimi- nate potentially dangerous staticelectricity discharge by touch- ing a metal part of the vehicle, away from the fuel filler neck,nozzle or other gasoline source.
- When using a portable fuel con-
tainer be sure to place the con-tainer on the ground prior to refueling. Static electricity dis- charge from the container canignite fuel vapors causing a fire. Once refueling has begun, con- tact with the vehicle should bemaintained until the filling is complete. Use only portable fuel containers designed to carry andstore gasoline.
- Do not use cellular phones
around a gas station or whilerefueling any vehicle. Electric current and/or electronic inter- ference from cellular phones canpotentially ignite fuel vapors causing a fire. If you must use your cellular phone use it in aplace away from the gas station.o Automotive fuels are flammable/ explosive materials. When refuel- ing, please note the followingguidelines carefully. Failure to follow these guidelines may re- sult in severe personal injury, se-vere burns or death by fire or explosion.
- Before refueling always note the
location of the Emergency Gaso- line Shut-Off, if available, at the gas station facility.
- Before touching the fuel nozzle or fuel filler cap, you shouldeliminate potentially dangerousstatic electricity discharge by touching another metal part of the front of the vehicle, a safedistance away from the fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other gas source.
- Do not get back into a vehicle once you have begun refueling.Do not touch, rub or slide againstany item or fabric (polyester, satin, nylon, etc.) capable of pro- ducing static electricity. Staticelectricity discharge can ignite fuel vapors resulting in explo- sion.- When refueling always shut theengine off. Sparks produced by electrical components related tothe engine can ignite fuel va- pors causing a fire. Always in- sure that the engine is OFF be-fore and during refueling. Once refueling is complete, check to make sure the fuel filler cap anddoor are securely closed, before starting the engine.
- Do not light any fire around a gas station. DO NOT use matchesor a lighter and DO NOT SMOKE or leave a lit cigarette in yourvehicle while at a gas station especially during refueling. Au- tomotive fuel is highly flammableand can, when ignited, result in explosion by flames.
- If a fire breaks out during refuel- ing, leave the vicinity of the ve-hicle, and immediately contact the manager of the gas stationor contact the police and local fire department. Follow any safety instructions they provide.

o If the interior of the car is hot whenyou first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condi-
tioning system, keep all windowsclosed to keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear.This increases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine overheating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioningonce every month for a few min- utes. This will help circulate the lubricantsand keep your system in peak oper- ating condition.

FM broadcasts are transmitted at highfrequencies and do not bend to follow the earth's surface. Because of this, FM broadcasts generally begin to fadeat short distances from the station. Also, FM signals are easily affected by buildings, mountains, or other obstruc-tions. These can result in certain listen- ing conditions which might lead you to believe a problem exists with your ra-dio. The following conditions are normal and do not indicate radio trouble:
AM broadcasts can be received atgreater distances than FM broadcasts. This is because AM radio waves aretransmitted at low frequencies. These long, low frequency radio waves can follow the curvature of the earth ratherthan travelling straight out into the atmosphere. In addition, they curve around obstructions so that they canprovide better signal coverage.
