In case the immobiliser warning indica- tor blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" position,this indicates that the immobiliser sys- tem is out of order. Should the immobiliser system be out of order,your vehicle will need to be towed to a Hyundai dealer for rectification.
In the interest of security, the metal tag attached to the keys which bears thekey number should be removed from the key ring after you receive your new vehicle. In addition, key numbers can-not be provided by Hyundai for security reasons. If you need additional keys or if youshould lose your keys, your authorised Hyundai dealer can make new keys if you can supply the key number.

The vehicle key number is recorded upon a metal tag attached to the keys when the vehicle is first delivered toyou. The key number should be recorded and kept in a safe place in case theneed to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundai dealer by quoting the relevant keynumber.

DOOR LOCKS

WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked so that the doors cannot be inadvert- ently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that the doors will not be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car in case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traffic.
o In case of an accident, all doors
will unlock automatically (If In- stalled).
OMC025005R B040C01MC-GAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position sothat the red mark on the switch is not visible, then close the door.

with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

The front passenger's seatback should be tilted to enter the rear seat. By pulling up on the recliner control lever (1) at the outside of the frontpassenger's seat, the seatback will tilt forward and the seat will automatically slide forward.Rear seat occupants can tilt the front passenger's seatback by depressing the foot lever (2) as shown in the illus-tration. !WARNING:
Passengers sitting in the rear seat should be careful not to accidentallypress the foot lever (2) while the vehicle is moving, as this may cause the seatback to move forward andinjure a front seat occupant.

To recline the seatback, pull up the seatback folding lever (1) and push the seatback rearward. To return the seatback to an upright position, pull upthe seatback folding lever (1) and pull the seatback forward until the seatback locks into upright position.After adjusting the seatback angle, al- ways check that it is securely locked into place. To lower it, push it down while pressing the height adjuster button.Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the height ad- juster to make sure that it has lockedinto the position. B180A01MC-GAT SEAT BELTS 3-Point System with Emergency Locking Retrac-torTo Fasten Your Belt To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tab into the buckle. There will be an audible "click" when the tab locks into thebuckle. The seat belt automatically adjusts to the proper length only after the lap beltis adjusted manually so that it fits snugly around your hips. If you lean forward in a slow, easy motion, the beltwill extend and let you move around.

o If the shoulder belt anchor is not
moved, grasp the shoulder part of the belt and pull forward to thefull.
WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position when the vehicleis moving.
o The misadjustment of height of the shoulder belt could reduce theeffectiveness of the seat belt in acrash.
! CAUTION:
o Adjust the shoulder belt height when you sit well back in the seat.

B220C02A-DAT To Release the Seat Belt When you want to release the seat belt, press the button in the locking buckle.
WARNING:
When fastening the outboard seatbelts or the centre seat belt, make sure they are inserted into the cor-rect buckles to obtain maximum pro- tection from the seat belt system and assure proper operation.

o To disconnect the metal tab (A) from the buckle (B), insert a nar- row-ended tool into the groovelocated on the buckle (B).
o Lock the metal tab (A) and the
buckle (B) immediately after fold-ing rear seatbacks up. B230A03A-DAT If the child is old enough to sit alone and the car is not equipped with a proper child or infant seat, the child should be placed in the rear seat andrestained with a lap/sash belt. Child restraint systems are designed to be secured in vehicle seats by lap beltsor the lap belt portion of a lap/shoulder belt, or by a tether anchor and/or ISOFIX anchors (If Installed).
WARNING:
o Child restraint anchorages are designed to withstand only thoseloads imposed by correctly fittedchild restraints. Under no circum- stances are they to be used for adult seat belts harnesses or forattaching other items or equip- ment to the vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re- straint system can become veryhot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure and check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.

B230B01E-DAT Using a Child Restraint System For small children and babies, the use of a child seat or infant seat is required. This child seat or infant seat should beof appropriate size for the child and should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It isfurther required that the seat be placed in the vehicle's rear seat since this can make an important contribution tosafety. o When the child restraint systemis not in use, store it in the boot or fasten it with a safety belt so that it will not be thrown forward in
the case of a sudden stop or acci-dent.
o A child restraint system should be
placed in the vehicle's rear seatsince this can make an important contribution to safety.
o Unrestrained children should not
be carried in the car. Holding achild in your arms is not a satis- factory substitute for a child re- straint system. A child held in this manner can be crushed be-tween your body and the interior of the car.
o Never allow a child to be held in
a person's arms while they are ina moving vehicle. This could result in serious in-jury or death to the child in the event of an accident or sudden stop. Holding a child in a movingvehicle does not offer protection during an accident, even if the person holding the child is wear-ing a seat belt. o Never use an infant carrier or child
safety seat that "hooks" over aseatback; it may not provide ad- equate security in an accident.
o Under all circumstances the at- taching bolt must be engaged atleast 5 full threads in the anchor- age. If you are in doubt with anyaspect of this installation please contact an authorised Hyundai dealer.

2. Route the child restraint seat strap
over the back of the seat. For vehicles with adjustable head- rests, route the tether strap underthe headrest and between the head- rest posts, otherwise route the tether strap over the top of the seatback. B230C02MC

Some child seat manufacturers make safety seats that are labeled as ISOFIX or ISOFIX-compatible child seats. These seats include two rigid or web-bing mounted attachments that con- nect to two ISOFIX anchors at specific seating positions in your vehicle. Thistype of child seat eliminates the need to use seat belts to attach the child seat for forward-facing child seats. WARNING:
o Do not install a child safety seat at the centre of the rear seat us- ing the vehicle's ISOFIX anchors. The ISOFIX anchors are only pro-vided for the left and right out- board rear seating positions. Do not misuse the ISOFIX anchorsby attempting to attach a child restraint seat improperly in the middle of the reat seat position tothe ISOFIX anchors. In a crash,
the child seat ISOFIX attachments may not be strong enough to se- cure the child restraint seat prop- erly in the centre of the rear seat and may break, causing serious injury or death. o When using the vehicle’s "ISOFIX"
system to install a child restraint system in the rear seat, all unused vehicle rear seat belt metal latch plates or tabs must be latchedsecurely in their seat belt buckles and the seat belt webbing must be retracted behind the child restraintto prevent the child from reaching and taking hold of unretracted seat
belts. Unlatched metal latch platesor tabs may allow the child to reach the unretracted seat belts which may result in strangulationand a serious injury or death to the child in the child restraint.
o Do not mount more than one child restraint to a single tether or to a child restraint lower anchorage
point. The improper increased load may cause the anchorage points or tether anchor to break, causing serious injury or death.
o Attach the ISOFIX or ISOFIX-com-
patible child seat only to the ap- propriate locations shown.
o Always follow the installation and
use instructions provided by the manufacturer of the child re- straint.

ISOFIX anchors have been provided in your vehicle. The ISOFIX anchors arelocated in the left and right outboard rear seating positions. Their locations are shown in the illustration. There is noISOFIX anchor provided for the centre rear seating position.

Use the seat belt to install the child restraint system as illustrated. After installation of the child restraint sys- tem, rock the child seat back and forth,and side to side to ensure that it is positively secured by the seat belt. If the child seat moves, readjust thelength of the seat belt. In Australia/NZ the child restraint manufacturer's in- structions must be followed when fit-ting the unit to the vehicle.
Follow the child seat manufacturer'sinstructions to properly install safetyseats with ISOFIX or ISOFIX-compat- ible attachments. Once you have installed the ISOFIXchild restraint seat, assure that the seat is properly attached to the ISOFIX and tether anchors. Also, test the safetyseat before you place the child in it. Tilt the seat from side to side. Also try to tug the seat forward. Check to see if theanchors hold the seat in place.
