!WARNING:
To minimise risk of severe injury in the event of a collision or a sudden stop, both the driver and passenger seatbacks should always be in anupright position while the vehicle is in motion. The protection provided by the seat belts and airbags in afrontal collision may be reduced sig- nificantly when the seatbacks are reclined. There is greater risk thatthe driver and passenger will slide under the seat belt which may result in serious injury if a crash occurswhen the seatbacks are reclined. The seat belt cannot provide full protec- tion to an occupant if the seatback isreclined.!WARNING:
o For maximum effectiveness in case of an accident, the headrest should be adjusted so the middle of theheadrest is at the same height of the centre of gravity of an occupant's head. Generally, thecentre of gravity of most people's head is similar with the height of the top of their eyes. Also, adjustthe headrest as close to your head as possible. For this reason, the use of a cushion that holds thebody away from the seatback is not recommended.
o Do not operate the vehicle with the
headrests removed as severe in-jury to the occupants may occur in the event of an accident. Head-rests may provide protection against neck injuries when prop- erly adjusted.
o Do not adjust the headrest posi- tion of the driver's seat while thevehicle is in motion.

Adjusting the height up and down To raise the headrest, pull it up to the desired position (1). To lower the head- rest, push and hold the release button (2) on the headrest support and lowerthe headrest to the desired position (3). Removal To remove the headrest, raise it as far as it can go then press the release button (1) while pulling upward (2). To reinstall the headrest, put the head-rest poles (3) into the holes while press- ing the release button (1). Then adjust it to the appropriate height.OMC029029

B110A02MC-DAT Folding Rear Seatbacks (If Installed) The rear seatbacks may be folded to facilitate carrying long items or to in-crease the luggage capacity of the vehicle.
WARNING:
The purpose of the fold-down rearseatbacks is to allow you to carry longer objects than could otherwisebe accommodated. Never allow passengers to sit on top of the folded down seatback or cargoarea while the car is moving as this is not a proper seating position and no seat belts are available for use.This could result in serious injury or death in case of an accident or sud- den stop. Objects carried on thefolded down seatback should not extend higher than the top of the front seats. This could allow cargo toslide forward and cause injury or damage during sudden stops.
Removal (If Installed) To remove the headrest, raise it as far as it can go then press the release button (1) while pulling upward (2). To reinstall the headrest, put the head-rest poles (3) into the holes while press- ing the release button (1). Then adjust it to the appropriate height.

1. Slide forward and upright the front seats before folding down.
2. Lower the headrests to the lowest position.

o In order to prevent the centre shoulder belt from being dam- aged while folding the rear seat,disconnect the metal tab (A) from the buckle (B). To disconnect the metal tab (A) from the buckle (B) ,insert a narrow-ended tool into the groove located on the buckle (B).

B160B01A-AAT Periodic Inspection It is recommended that all seat belts be inspected periodically for wear ordamage of any kind. Parts of the sys- tem that are damaged should be re- placed as soon as possible. B160C01A-AAT Keep Belts Clean and Dry Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If belts become dirty, they can be cleaned by using a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives should not beused because they may damage and weaken the fabric. B160D01A-DAT When to Replace Seat Belts Complete seat belt assembly or as- semblies should be replaced if thevehicle has been involved in an acci- dent. This should be done even if no damage is visible. Additional ques-tions concerning seat belt operation should be directed to your Hyundai Dealer. B170A02MC-AAT HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE FRONT SEAT SHOULDER BELT You can adjust the height of the shoul- der belt anchor to one of the 5 positions for maximum comfort and safety. If the height of the adjusting seat belt istoo near your neck, you will not be getting the most effective protection. The shoulder portion should be ad-justed so that it lies across your chest and midway over your shoulder near- est the door and not your neck.To adjust the height of the seat belt anchor, lower or raise the height ad- juster into an appropriate position. Toraise the height adjuster, pull it up.

Maintenance of Seat Belts When cleaning the seat belts, as recommended, avoid getting solutions into the buckle where they may attackthe lubricant or cause corrosion. Do not attempt to bleach or re-dye belts, as this may affect the webbing strength. NOTE: Do not attempt any form of modifi- cations or repairs to seat belt com- ponents. If the retractor or other components do not operate cor- rectly, call an authorised HyundaiDealer, who will take the necessary corrective action. Your authorised dealer will inspect all seat belt com-ponents at regular intervals and advise if replacement is required. Between these inspections youshould make regular checks to en- sure that foreign objects are not preventing complete buckle en-gagement.

To lower it, push it down while pressing the height adjuster button.Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the height ad- juster to make sure that it has lockedinto the position. B180A01MC-GAT SEAT BELTS 3-Point System with Emergency Locking Retrac-torTo Fasten Your Belt To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tab into the buckle. There will be an audible "click" when the tab locks into thebuckle. The seat belt automatically adjusts to the proper length only after the lap beltis adjusted manually so that it fits snugly around your hips. If you lean forward in a slow, easy motion, the beltwill extend and let you move around.

o If the shoulder belt anchor is not
moved, grasp the shoulder part of the belt and pull forward to thefull.
WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position when the vehicleis moving.
o The misadjustment of height of the shoulder belt could reduce theeffectiveness of the seat belt in acrash.
! CAUTION:
o Adjust the shoulder belt height when you sit well back in the seat.

NOTE: Look at a tape before you insert it. If the tape is loose, tighten it byturning one of the hubs with a pencil or your finger. If the label is peeling off, do not putit in the drive mechanism. Do not leave tapes sitting where they are exposed to hot, warm, or highhumidity, such as on top of the dash- board or in the player. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) system is designed to stabilise thevehicle during cornering manoeuvres. ESP checks where you are steering and where the vehicle is actually going.ESP applies the brakes at individual wheels and intervenes in the engine management system to stabilise thevehicle. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) system is an electronic system de- signed to help the driver maintain ve- hicle control under adverse conditions.It is not a substitute for safe driving practices.
!WARNING:
Your ABS (ESP) will not prevent accidents due to improper or dan- gerous driving manoeuvres. Even though vehicle control is improved during emergency braking, always maintain a safe distance between you and objects ahead. Vehicle speeds should always be reduced during extreme road conditions. The braking distance for cars equipped
with an anti-lock braking system (the
electronic stability program) may be
longer than for those without it in the following road conditions. These roads should be driven at reduced speeds.
o Rough, gravel or snow-covered
roads.
o With tyre chains installed.
o On roads where the road surface is pitted or has different surface height.
The safety features of an ABS (ESP) equipped vehicle should not be testedby high speed driving or cornering.This could endanger the safety of yourself or others.
C120A01FC-DAT(If Installed) The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up dur-ing sudden braking or on hazardous road surfaces. The ABS control module monitors the wheel speed and controlsthe pressure applied to each brake. Thus, in emergency situations or on slick roads, ABS will increase vehiclecontrol during braking. NOTE:
o A click sound may be heard in the
engine compartment when the ve- hicle begins to move after the en-gine is started. These conditionsare normal and indicate that theanti-lock brake system (ElectronicStability Program) is functioning properly.
o During ABS (ESP) operation, a slight pulsation may be felt in the brake pedal when the brakes areapplied. Also, a noise may be heardin the engine compartment while braking. These conditions are nor- mal and indicate that the anti-lockbrake system (Electronic Stability Program) is functioning properly.

CAUTION:
1. The rear parking assist warning may not sound sequentially de- pending on the speed and shapesof the objects detected.
2. The rear parking assist system
may malfunction if the vehiclebumper height or sensor installa- tion has been modified or dam- aged. Any non-factory installedequipment or accessories may also interfere with the sensor per- formance.
3. The sensor may not recognise objects less than 15 in. (40 cm)from the sensor, or it may sensean incorrect distance. Use cau- tion.
4. When the sensor is frozen or stained with snow, dirt, or water,the sensor may be inoperative until the stains are removed using asoft cloth.
5. Do not push, scratch or strike the
sensor. Sensor damage couldoccur.

4. Objects generating excessive noise
(vehicle horns, loud motorcycle en- gines, or truck air brakes) are within range of the sensor.
5. Heavy rain or water spray exists.
6. Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are within range of the sen-sor.
7. The sensor is covered with snow. 8. Trailer towing The detecting range may decrease when: 1. The sensor is stained with foreign matter such as snow or water. (The sensing range will return to normal when removed.)
2. Outside air temperature is extremely hot or cold.
The following objects may not be recognised by the sensor: 1. Sharp or slim objects such as ropes, chains or small poles.
2. Objects which tend to absorb the
sensor frequency such as clothes,spongy material or snow.
3. Undetectable objects smaller than 1
m (40 in.) and narrower than 14 cm (6in.) in diameter. CAUTION:
This system can only sense objects within the range and location of the sensors; It can not detect objects inother areas where sensors are not installed. Also, small or slim ob- jects, such as poles or objects lo-cated between sensors may not be detected by the sensors. Always visually check behind thevehicle when backing up. Be sure to inform any drivers of the vehicle that may be unfamiliar withthe system regarding the systems capabilities and limitations. Your new vehicle warranty does notcover any accidents or damage to the vehicle or its occupants due to a rear parking assist system malfunc-tion. Always drive safely and cau- tiously.!
