To open the trunk lid without using the key, pull up the lid release lever. To close, lower the trunk lid, then press down on it until it locks. To be sure thetrunk lid is securely fastened, check by trying to pull it up again.
Tail Gate (3 Door)
o To open the tail gate, unlock it by
turning the key clockwise, then pull the outside handle toward you.
o To close, lower the tail gate and shut
firmly to engage the latch. Lock thetail gate by turning the key counter- clockwise.
o If the vehicle is equipped with central door locking, the tail gate can belocked without a key. Push the frontportion of the central door locking switch after closing the tail gate.
o If the tail gate is open when the front
portion of the central door lockingswitch is pushed, the tail gate will be locked when it is fully closed.

Air Conditioning Operation
(Cooling)
To use the air conditioning to cool the
interior:
oTurn on the fan control switch.
oPush the air conditioning switch by pushing in on the switch.
The air conditioning indicator light
should come on at the same time.
oSet the temperature control to "Cool". ("Cool" provides maximum cooling.
The temperature may be moderated
by moving the control toward "Warm".) oAdjust the fan control to the desired
speed. For greater cooling, turn the
fan control to one of the higher speeds
or temporarily select the ()posi-

The air conditioning is turned on by pushing the A/C button on the heating/ air conditioning control panel.

FM broadcasts are transmitted at highfrequencies and do not bend to follow
the earth's surface. Because of this,
FM broadcasts generally begin to fade
at short distances from the station.
Also, FM signals are easily affected by buildings, mountains, or other obstruc- tions. These can result in certain listen-
ing conditions which might lead you to
believe a problem exists with your ra-
dio. The following conditions are normal
and do not indicate radio trouble:
AM broadcasts can be received at
greater distances than FM broadcasts. This is because AM radio waves aretransmitted at low frequencies. These
long, low frequency radio waves can
follow the curvature of the earth rather than travelling straight out into the atmosphere. In addition, they curve
around obstructions so that they can
provide better signal coverage.

How Car Audio Works
AM and FM radio signals are broadcast
from transmitter towers located around
your city. They are intercepted by the radio antenna on your car. This signal isthen received by the radio and sent toyour car speakers.
When a strong radio signal has reached your vehicle, the precise engineeringof your audio system ensures the best
possible quality reproduction. Howev-
er, in some cases the signal coming to
your vehicle may not be strong andclear. This can be due to factors such as the distance from the radio station,

10. CD SCAN Button
o To playback the first 10 seconds of
each track, press the CD SCAN button more than 1 second.
o To playback the first 10 seconds of
each track in the selected folder,press the CD SCAN button within 1 second (MP3 CD only).
o Press the CD SCAN button again within 10 sec. when you have reachedthe desired track.
11. FILE SEARCH Knob (TUNE Select Knob)
o You can skip the track by turning the FILE SEARCH knob clockwise or counterclockwise.After selecting the desired track, press the FILE SEARCH knob to playback the track.If you do not press the FILE SEARCH knob within five seconds, the search will stop. 12. DIRECTORY SEARCH

o You can move through the folder by pushing the DIR button to up ( ) anddown ( ). After moving the desired folder, press the FILE SEARCH knob to playbackthe selected folder. If you do not press the FILE SEARCH knob within five seconds, the searchwill stop.

o When replacing the fuse, replace it with a fuse having the correctcapacity.
o All stored bookmarks are all erased when the car battery is discon-nected or power to the vehicle islost. If this occurs, the bookmarks will have to be reset.
o This equipment is designed to be used only in a 12 volt DC batterysystem with negative ground.
o This unit is made of precisionparts. Do not attempt to disas- semble or adjust any parts.
o When driving your vehicle, be sure
to keep the volume of the unit setlow enough to allow you to hear sounds coming from the outside.
o Do not expose this equipment (in- cluding the speakers and tape) towater or excessive moisture.

o Folder is moved up or down fromcurrently playing and folder name becomes displayed.
o Press TUNE/ENTER button to play
the selected folder.
o If the TUNE/ENTER button is not pressed within 5 seconds, then theprevious folder name will be dis-played again.

9. REPEAT Button Repeats current song when the button is pressed for less than 0.8 second. Repeats current folder when the buttonis pressed for 0.8 second or longer. (If there is no folder, entire disc will be repeated.) 10. SCAN Play Button Plays first 10 seconds of each song in the DISC.To cancel the mode, press the key once again. 11. FOLDER Button Folder up/down operation.
o Folder is moved up or down from
currently playing and folder name becomes displayed.
o Press TUNE/ENTER button to play
the selected folder.

Types of warning sound
o When an object is 120 cm to 81 cm (47 in. to 32 in.) from the rear bumper : Buzzer beeps intermittently
o When an object is 80 cm to 41 cm (31
in. to 16 in.) from the rear bumper :Buzzer beeps more frequently
o When an object is within 40 cm (15 in.) of the rear bumper : Buzzersounds continuously.
Non-operational conditions of rear parking assist system The rear parking assist system may not operate properly when: 1. Moisture is frozen to the sensor. (It will operate normally when the mois- ture has been cleared.)
2. The sensor is covered with foreign
matter, such as snow or water, or thesensor cover is blocked. (It will oper- ate normally when the material isremoved or the sensor is no longer blocked.)
3. Driving on uneven road surfaces
(unpaved roads, gravel, bumps, gra-dient).
4. Objects generating excessive noise
(vehicle horns, loud motorcycle en-gines, or truck air brakes) are within range of the sensor. 5. Heavy rain or water spray exists.
6. Wireless transmitters or mobile
phones are within range of the sen- sor.
7. The sensor is covered with snow. 8. Trailer towing The detecting range may decrease when: 1. The sensor is stained with foreign matter such as snow or water. (The sensing range will return to normal when removed.)
2. Outside air temperature is extremely hot or cold.
The following objects may not be recognized by the sensor: 1. Sharp or slim objects such as ropes, chains or small poles.
2. Objects which tend to absorb the sensor frequency such as clothes, spongy material or snow.
3. Undetectable objects smaller than 1 m (40 in.) and narrower than 14 cm (6in.) in diameter. CAUTION:
1. The rear parking assist warning may not sound sequentially de- pending on the speed and shapes of the objects detected.
2. The rear parking assist system may malfunction if the vehiclebumper height or sensor installa-tion has been modified or dam- aged. Any non-factory installed equipment or accessories mayalso interfere with the sensor per- formance.
3. The sensor may not recognize
objects less than 15 in. (40 cm)from the sensor, or it may sense an incorrect distance. Use cau-tion.
4. When the sensor is frozen or
stained with snow, dirt, or water,the sensor may be inoperative until the stains are removed using a soft cloth.
5. Do not push, scratch or strike the sensor. Sensor damage couldoccur.

When driv- ing in severe winter conditions where this may happen, you should periodi-cally check underneath the car to be sure the movement of the front wheels and the steering components is notobstructed.
C170A01A-AAT Pre-Trip Inspections 1. Tires: Adjust the tire inflation pressures to specification. Low tire inflation pres-sures will result in overheating and possible failure of the tires. 2. Fuel, engine coolant and
engine oil:

Ask your Hyundai dealer for further details before towing. C190B01S-AAT Trailer Hitches Select the proper hitch and ball combi- nation, making sure that it's location iscompatible with that of the trailer or vehicle being towed. Use a quality non-equalizing hitch whichdistributes the tongue load uniformly throughout the chassis. The hitch should be bolted securely to the car and installed by a qualified technician. DO NOT USE A HITCHDESIGNED FOR TEMPORARY IN- STALLATION AND NEVER USE ONE THAT ATTACHES ONLY TO THEBUMPER.

mum load on the rear axle(s) may be exceeded by not more than 15% and the technically permissible maximum laden mass of the ve- hicle may be exceeded by not morethan 10 % or 100 kg (220.4 lbs), whichever value is lower. In this case, do not exceed 100 km/h (62.1mph) for vehicle of category M1 or 80 km/h (49.7 mph) for vehicle of category N1.
o When a vehicle of category M1 is towing a trailer, the additional loadimposed at the trailer couplingdevice may cause the tire maxi- mum load ratings to be exceeded, but not by more than 15 %. In thiscase, do not exceed 100 km/h (62.1 mph) and increase the tire infla- tion pressure by at least 0.2 bar.
