Engine Coolant Tempera-
ture Warning Light
WARNING:
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The engine coolant is under pressure and could eruptand cause severe burns. Wait until the engine is cool before removing the radiator cap.
!
This warning light shows the tempera- ture of the engine coolant when the ignition switch is ON. The warning lightilluminates if the temperature of the engine coolant is above 123±3°C (253.4±5.4°F).If the warning light illuminates, pull over and stop as soon as possible and turn off the engine. Then open the hood andcheck the coolant level (See "If the engine overheats" on the page 3-4.) and the water pump drive belt. If you sus-pect cooling system trouble, have your cooling system checked by a Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. NOTE: If the engine coolant temperature warning light illuminates, it indicatesoverheating that may damage the engine.
CAUTION:
o Prolonged driving with the Emis- sion Control System MalfunctionIndicator Light illuminated may cause damage to the emissioncontrol systems which could ef- fect drivability or fuel economy. If the Emission Control SystemMalfunction Indicator Light be- gins to flash ON and OFF, poten- tial catalytic converter damage ispossible. This could result in loss of engine power. Have the Engine Control System inspected as soonas possible by an authorized Hyundai dealer (Gasoline Engine).
o In case the injection quantity ad- justment related error occurred,the Emission Control System Mal- function Indicator Light begins toflash ON and OFF. Continuous driving with this status could re- sult in abnormal engine powerloss (or power increase), com- bustion noise and poor emission. If this occurs, have your vehiclechecked by an authorized Hyundai dealer (Diesel Engine).

Electronic Stability Program Indicator Lights(If Installed)
The electronic stability program indica- tors change operation according to the ignition switch position and whether thesystem is in operation or not. They will illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, butshould go out after three seconds. If the ESP or ESP-OFF indicator stays on, take your car to your authorized Hyundaidealer and have the system checked. See section 2 for more information about the ESP.B260U01TB-GAT Immobilizer Warning Light (If Installed)
This indicator light comes on for some seconds after the ignition key is turnedto the "ON" position. At this time, you can start the engine. The light goes out after the engine is running. In case thislight goes out before you start the en- gine, you must turn to the "LOCK" position and restart the engine. In casethis light blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" posi- tion, this indicates that the immobilizersystem is out of order. At this time, refer to the explanation of the Limp home procedure(See page 1-7) or con-sult to the Hyundai dealer.B260T01TB-GAT Electronic Power Steering (EPS) SystemWarning Light(If Installed)
This indicator light comes on about 4 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after the engineis started, it will go out. This light also comes on when the EPS has some troubles. If it comes on whiledriving, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Hyundai Dealer. NOTE: When you move the electronic power steering back-end and forth-end con- tinuously in stop position, steering wheel plays heavily to operate anti-overload system. It is normal condi- tion. It returns to be normal getting time.

B265A01MC-GATFuel Filter Warning Light (Diesel Engine)
This warning light illuminates for 6 sec- onds after the ignition switch is set tothe "ON" position or after the engine is started, it will go out. If it lights up while the engine is running, it indicates thatwater has accumulated inside the fuel filter. If this happens, remove the water from the fuel filter. (Refer to "6-25 page")

Diesel Preheat Indicator Light
The indicator light illuminates amber when the ignition switch is placed at the"ON" position. The engine can be started after the preheat indicator light goes off. The illuminating time varies with thewater temperature, air temperature and battery condition. NOTE: If the engine were not started within 10 seconds after the preheating is completed, turn the ignition key once more to the "LOCK" position, andthen to the "ON" position, in order to preheat again.
! CAUTION:
If the preheat indicator light contin- ues to illuminate or flash on and off after the engine has warmed up orwhile driving, check the system by an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.
! CAUTION:
When the fuel filter warning light is illuminated, engine power (vehicle speed & idle speed) may decrease. If you keep driving with the warninglight on, you can damage your vehicle's engine parts and injection system of the Common Rail. If thisoccurs, have your vehicle checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. B900A01A-GAT ACOUSTIC WARNING SOUND (If Installed) The acoustic warning chime sounds when the tail lights are on and the door in driver side is open. This prevents thebattery from discharging when the car is left with the tail lights on. The chime sounds until the tail lights are turned off.
SB210U1-G OVER SPEED WARNING BUZZER (If Installed) When the car speed is in excess of 120 km/h (75 mph), a buzzer will sound to warn you.

Overspeed warning light (If Installed)
If you drive with the speed of 120 km/h or more, the overspeed warning lightwill blink. This is to prevent you from driving your vehicle with overspeed.

B270A01A-AAT BRAKE PAD WEAR WARNING SOUND The front disc brake pads have wear indicators that should make a high- pitched squealing or scraping noisewhen new pads are needed. The sound may come and go or be heard all the time when the vehicle is moving. It mayalso be heard when the brake pedal is pushed down firmly. Excessive rotor damage will result if the worn pads arenot replaced. See your Hyundai dealer immediately.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The needle on the gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the fuel tank. The fuel capacity is given in Section 9. NOTE: The "

B340E01A-AAT Headlight Flasher To flash the headlights, pull the switch lever toward you, then release it. The headlights can be flashed even thoughthe headlight switch is in the "OFF" position.

B340F01MC-GATDaytime Running Lights (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with daytime running lights. The daytime running lights are used to improve visibility foroncoming traffic. Your vehicle daytime running lights are designed to remain on continuously when the engine is operat-ing even though the headlight switch is in the "OFF" position. If you turn on the tail lights when the ignition switch is inthe "ON" position, the daytime running lights will go off.

B360B01FC-GAT Front Fog Light Switch (If Installed) To turn on the front fog lights, push the switch in the "ON" position. They will light when the headlight switch is in thefirst or second position.
CAUTION:
Do not clean the inner side of the rearwindow glass with an abrasive type of glass cleaner or use a scraper to remove foreign deposits from theinner surface of the glass as this may cause damage to the defroster ele- ments. NOTE: The engine must be running for the rear window defroster to operate.

REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH
B380A01MC-AAT The rear window defroster is turned on by pushing in the switch. To turn the defroster off, push the switch a secondtime. The rear window defroster auto- matically turns itself off after about 20 minutes. To restart the defroster cycle,push in the switch again after it has turned itself off.

Unplug the plug from the power outlet when the engine is off if the key will beleft in the "ACC" or "ON" (not recommended) positions, to pre- vent discharging the battery. Us-ing when the engine stops or leav- ing the electric appliance plugged in for many hours may cause thebattery to discharge.
o Do not use the power outlet to
connect electric accessories orequipment other than those de- signed to operate on 12 volts.
o Some electronic devices can cause electronic interference whenplugged into the power outlet. These devices may cause exces-sive audio noise and malfunctions in other electronic systems or de- vices used in your vehicle.

o Always double check to be sure that the hood is firmly latched before driving away. If it is not latched, the hood could fly openwhile the vehicle is being driven, causing a total loss of visibility, which might result in an accident.
o The support rod must be inserted completely into the hole providedin the hood whenever you inspectthe engine compartment. This will prevent the hood from falling and possibly injuring you.
o Do not move the vehicle with the hood in the raised position, asvision is obstructed and the hoodcould fall or be damaged.
REMOTE FUEL-FILLER LID RELEASE

The fuel-filler lid may be opened from inside the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel-filler lid opener located on the front floor area on the left side of the car. NOTE: If the fuel-filler lid will not open be- cause ice has formed around it, taplightly or push on the lid to break the ice and release the lid. Do not pry on the lid. If necessary, spray aroundthe lid with an approved de-icer fluid (do not use radiator anti-freeze) or move the vehicle to a warm placeand allow the ice to melt.
