B980F01E-EAT Defrost Switch When the "Defrost" button is pressed, the " " mode will be automatically selected and the air will be dischargedthrough the windscreen defrost vents. To assist in defrosting, the air condi- tioning will operate if ambient tempera-ture is higher than 38.3°F(3.5°C) and automatically turns off if the ambient temperature drops below 38.3°F(3.5°C). The pollen filter is located in front of the blower unit behind the glove box. It operates to decrease the amount ofpollutants entering the car. To replace the pollen filter, refer to the page 6-25. CAUTION:
o Replace the filter every 10,000 miles(15,000 km) or once a year. If the car is being driven in severe conditions such as dusty, roughroads, more frequent pollen filter inspections and changes are re- quired.
o When the air flow rate is decreased, it must be checked at a Hyundaiauthorised repairer.

o Vacuum, crankcaseventilation hoses
Inspect the surface of hoses for evi- dence of heat and/or mechanical dam- age. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessiveswelling indicate deterioration. Particu- lar attention should be paid to examin- ing those hose surfaces nearest tohigh heat sources, such as the ex- haust manifold. Inspect the hose routing to assure that the hoses do not come in contact with any heat source, sharp edges or mov- ing component which might cause heatdamage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clamps and couplings, to make sure they aresecure, and that no leaks are present. Hoses should be replaced immedi- ately if there is any evidence of dete-rioration or damage. 6ZF060H1-A

12CHANGING THE AIR CLEANER FILTER
G070A01E-AAT To change the filter, unsnap the clips
around the cover. When this is done, the cover can be lifted off, the oldfilter removed and the new filter put in its place. Genuine Hyundai Replace- ment Parts are recommended.

! CAUTION:
o Operating your vehicle without a proper air cleaner filter in place can result in excessive engine wear.
o When removing the air cleaner filter, be careful that dust or dirtdoes not enter the air intake. These may result in damage tothe air cleaner filter.

!WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even whenthe engine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan sothat you are not injured by a rotat- ing fan blade. As the engine cool- ant temperature decreases, the fanwill automatically shut off. This is a normal condition.
5. Prepare a suitable quantity of new
engine coolant (refer to section 9) and pour this into the radiator.
6. Start the engine with the radiator cap still removed and continue to add coolant as the level decreases as air is expelled from the system.When the level remains constant, replace the radiator cap and re- plenish the coolant reservoir.
7. When the engine is hot, check to ensure that no coolant leaks arepresent.
