B400B02GK-EAT The trip computer is a microcomputer- controlled driver information system that displays information related to driv-ing, such as distance to empty, aver- age speed and drive time on the LCD. RESET SWITCH
o The reset switch is used to zero the
multi-functional display mode.
o Pushing in the reset switch on the left side of tacometer changes the display as follows; 1. Distance to Empty
o This mode provides the estimated
distance to empty from the current fuel level in the fuel tank.
o The trip computer may not register additional fuel if less than 6 liters offuel are added to the vehicle.
o When the battery has been rein- stalled after being discharged ordisconnected, drive more than 20miles for an accurate distance to empty.

B460E03GK-GAT Resetting the Sunroof System If the battery has been recharged, disconnected or if the sunroof is oper-ated with the hexagonal head wrench manually, you may need to reset the sunroof. To do this;
1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
2. With pressing " " "up" button at the
same time, turn the ignition switch"ON". The resetting is failed when the ignition key to the "OFF" within1.5 seconds.
3. If the sunroof is set like this, the sunroof is reset with tilting up/down automatically once for all.
CAUTION:
If the sunroof is not reset, it may not be operated properly.

MAP LIGHT

(1) Push in the map light switch to turn on the driver side light.
(2) In the "DOOR" position, the interior courtesy light comes on when any door is opened regardless of theignition key position. The light goes out gradually 6 seconds after the door is closed.
(3) Push in the map light switch to turn on the driver side light.(1)

SPECTACLE CASE
FB340B1-F (Not all models) The spectacle case is located on the front overhead console. Push the end of cover to open or closethe spectacle case.
WARNING:

B970C02E-AAT Automatic Operation The FATC (Full Automatic Tempera- ture Control) system automatically con- trols heating and cooling as follows:
1. Push the "AUTO" switch. The indi-
cator light will come on confirming that the Face, Floor and/or Bi-Level modes as well as the blower speed and, air conditioner will be controlledautomatically. 2. Push the "TEMP" button to set the
desired temperature.The temperature will increase to the maximum 90°F(32°C) by pushing on the button. Each push of the buttonwill cause the temperature to in- crease by 1°F(0.5°C). The temperature will decrease to theminimum 62°F(17°C) by pushing on the button. Each push of the button will cause the temperature to de-crease by 1°F(0.5°C).NOTE: If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, the temperature mode will reset as centigrade degrees.This is a normal condition and you can change the temperature mode from centigrade to farenheit as fol-lows; Press the TEMP button down 3 sec- onds or more with the buttonheld down. NOTE: Do not hold the key in the "START" position for more than 15 seconds. "ON" When the key is at the "ON" position, the ignition and all accessories areavailable for use. If the engine is not running, the key should not be left at this position since the battery will be-come discharged and damage to the ignition system may also result. For information regarding engine starting,refer to "STARTING THE ENGINE". "ACC" When the ignition key is at the "ACC" position, the radio and other accesso- ries may be used. "LOCK" The ignition key may only be inserted or removed at this position. NOTE: The ignition key can only be re- moved if the transmission selector is at the "P" position (automatictransaxle only). SC090D1-F To Remove the Ignition Key
1. Turn the ignition key to the "ACC"
position.
2. Simultaneously push and turn the
ignition key counterclockwise from the "ACC" position to the "LOCK" position.
3. The key can be removed in the "LOCK" position.LOCK

SB050B1-E STEERING WHEEL LOCK When the key is removed, the steering column lock will be activated and willengage when the steering wheel is turned to the appropriate position. It is not necessary to turn the wheel untillocked each time the key is removed since in the event of any unauthorized attempt at removal, the lock will be-come effective as soon as the steering wheel is turned. To unlock the steer- ing, insert the key and turn to the"ACC" position. If the steering is locked, it may be necessary to rock the steer- ing wheel slightly to facilitate turningthe key. Under no circumstances should the key be forced since break- age of the key will occur.

NOTE:
Depress the brake pedal and push the button when shifting. Push the button when shifting.The selector lever can be shifted freely.
The indicator lights in the instrumentcluster indicate the selector lever posi- tion when the ignition is switched "ON".During "D" or sports mode operation, the gear currently in use displays in the numeral indicator.

The first few shifts on a new vehicle, or if the battery has been disconnected,may be somewhat abrupt. This is a normal condition, and the shifting se- quence will adjust after shifts are cycleda few times by the T.C.M (Transaxle Control Module).
CAUTION:
Never shift into "R" or "P" positionwhile the vehicle is moving.

C090B01A-AAT The function of each position is as follows: o P (Park): Use to hold the vehicle in place when parked or while starting the engine.Whenever parking the car, apply the parking brake and shift the selector lever to the "P" (Park) position.
CAUTION:
Never place the selector lever in the "P" (Park) position unless the ve- hicle is fully stopped. Failure toobserve this caution will cause se- vere damage to the transaxle.

ZC170B1-E Electrical System Winter conditions impose severe de- mands upon vehicle electrical systems,particularly the charging circuit. The battery condition and performance along with the alternator performanceand drive belt condition should be checked prior to the onset of winter.SC160A1-F Avoid braking or gear changing in cor- ners, especially when roads are wet. Ideally, corners should always be taken under gentle acceleration. If you followthese suggestions, tire wear will be held to a minimum.SMOOTH CORNERING
ZC170C1-E Anti-freeze/Corrosion inhibitor The cooling system must always con- tain an Ethylene-Glycol based anti- freeze solution. The system is filledduring manufacture with solution of the correct strength which should be checked before the onset of winter andadjusted or changed as required. NOTE: The anti-freeze solution contains a corrosion inhibitor to prevent deg-radation of the aluminum castings contained within the engine. There- fore, never, drain the system andrefill with water only.

SD020A1-E Seek assistance from the nearest Hyundai authorised repairer with regard to the method of ignition and fuel sys- tem diagnosis.
WARNING:
If the engine refuses to start, noattempt should be made to push ortow start the vehicle. Vehicles with automatic transaxle or fuel injec- tion will not be able to be started in this manner since no drive is trans- mitted through the automatictransaxle whilst the engine is not running, and in the case of fuel injected derivatives, the fuel pumpwill not operate under tow start conditions. In addition, if the ve- hicle is equipped with an exhaustcatalyst, damage to the catalyst may result if the vehicle is tow started. SD020B1-E IF THE ENGINE CANNOT BE CRANKED
1. If the vehicle is fitted with manual
transaxle, ensure that the clutch pedal is depressed whilst cranking the engine. If the vehicle is fittedwith automatic transaxle, ensure that the transaxle selector is at the "P" or"N" position.
2. Check the battery terminals and connections to ensure that theseare clean and also tight.
3. If the ignition warning lamps dim when the engine is cranked and thebattery terminals have beenchecked, a discharged battery is indicated. D010B01GK
4. Do not attempt to push or tow start
the vehicle, refer to "Jump Starting" for information regarding engine starting when the battery is dis- charged.

D010C01A-EAT If Engine Turns Over Normally but Does Not Start
1. Check fuel level.
2. With the key in the off position,
Check all connectors at ignition coils and spark plugs. Reconnect any that may be disconnected or loose.
3. Check the fuel line in the engine room.
4. If engine still refuses to start, call a Hyundai authorised repairer or seek other qualified assistance.
D010D01A-EAT If Engine Stalls While Driving
1. Reduce your speed gradually, keep- ing a straight line. Move cautiously off the road to a safe place.
2. Turn on your hazard lamp.
3. Try to start the engine again. If your vehicle will not start, contact aHyundai authorised repairer or seekother qualified assistance. SD030A2-E
CAUTION:
Personal injury and damage to thevehicle may occur if jump startingis not performed correctly. If any doubt exists as to how this opera- tion should be performed, seek as-sistance from qualified personnel.
JUMP STARTING
WARNING:
Motor vehicle batteries contain sulphuric acid and emit hydrogen gas. Protective clothing should beworn and care exercised to prevent the acid from coming into contact with skin or clothing and the ve-hicle. Naked lights should not be permitted in the vicinity of the bat- tery. Care should be exercised toprevent sparks occurring during connection. If acid accidentally comes into contact with skin oreyes, the affected area should im- mediately be flushed with copious amounts of water and medical as-sistance sought.

7. Swithc "ON" the main beam
headlamps before carefully remov- ing the jumper cables have been removed, switch "OFF" the main beam geadlamps. SD040A2-E If the temperature gauge indicates overheating:
1. Pull off the road and stop as soon as
it is safe to do so.
2. Place the gear selector lever in "P"
(automatic), or neutral (manual transaxle) and set the parking brake. If the air conditioning is on, turn it off.
3. If coolant is running out under the car or steam is coming out fromunder the bonnet stop the engine. Do not open the bonnet until thecoolant has stopped running or the steaming has stopped. If there is no visible loss of coolant and no steam,leave the engine running and check to be sure the engine cooling fan is operating.If the fan is not running, turn the engine off.
4. Check to see if the water pump drive belt is broken. If it is not missing,check to see that it is tight. If the drive belt seems to be satisfac-tory,check for coolant leaking from the radiator, hoses or under the car. (If the air conditioning had been in use,it is normal for cold water to be draining from it).
IF THE ENGINE OVERHEATS
1. Ensure that the booster battery is 12 volt type. If the booster battery is installed in another vehicle, ensure that the two vehicles are not touch- ing.
2. Turn off all unnecessary electrical equipment in both vehicles.
3. Ensure that the engine of the ve- hicle providing the jump start is run- ning prior to connection of the jump cables.
4. Connect the red jump cable to the positive (+) terminal of the boosterbattery and the other end to thepositive (+) terminal of the dis- charged battery.
5. Attach the black jump cable to the negative (-) terminal of thebooster battery, and the other end to a ground point within the enginecompartment of the vehicle with the flat battery. Do not connect to the negative battery terminal of the flatbattery since sparks may be gener- ated with the subsequent risk of explosion.
6. Raise the booster vehicle engine speed to 2,000 r.p.m. and start theengine of the vehicle with the flatbattery. CAUTION:
If the jump cables are incorrectlyinstalled, damage to the vehicle elec-trical system may occur, in particu- lar the electronic components such as the Fuel Injection system com- puter and the Automatic Transaxle computer. The battery must neverbe disconnected whilst the engine is running.

JE060A1-E Stain/Spot Removal Should tree sap, dead insects or tar prove to be difficult to remove from thepaint film, turpentine or a proprietary paint cutting compound may be used. Ensure that the area to be cleaned isnot rubbed intensively to prevent break- ing through the colour coat and expos- ing the under coat.
JE070A1-E Polishing The exterior paint work should be pol- ished with a proprietary wax polish when water no longer collects in beadform on the paint work. The instruc- tions of the product manufacturer should be adhered to. JE080A1-E Bumper Maintenance The special material from which the bumpers are manufactured warrantsspecial attention to preserve the ap- pearance of the bumpers. Avoid con- tact with battery electrolyte or brakefluid and ensure that accidental spill- ages are immediately flushed with water.Do not use abrasive cleaning materi- als which may damage the bumpers. Avoid subjecting the bumpers to hightemperatures such as may be encoun- tered in high bake paint ovens.
JE090A1-E Accident Repairs In the event of the body work sustain- ing damage, the following points shouldbe noted prior to repairs being under- taken. If body panels are replaced or re-paired, anti corrosion treatment must be applied to the repair area. The product used must be compatible withthose used in manufacture. It is rec- ommended that repairs are entrusted to a Hyundai authorised repairer to en-sure that replacement parts used are of the same high quality as those used in manufacture of the vehicle and that thecorrect repair methods and materials will ensure adequate levels of corrosion protection and the continued validity ofthe Anti Perforation Warranty.
