B110A02S-AAT FOLDING REAR SEATBACKS The rear seatbacks may be folded to facilitate carrying long items or to in- crease the luggage capacity of thevehicle.
o To unlock the seatback, push the seatback locking button, then pull forward on the seatback panel.
o When you return the seatback to its upright position, always be sure ithas locked into position by pulling and pushing on the top of theseatback.

The purpose of the fold-down rear seatbacks is to allow you to carry longer objects than could other-wise be accommodated. Never al- low passengers to sit on top of the folded down seat back while the caris moving as this is not a proper seating position and no seat belts are available for use. This couldresult in injury in case of an acci- dent or sudden stop. Objects car- ried on the folded down seatback should not extend higher than the top of the front seats. This couldallow cargo to slide forward and cause injury or damage during sud- den stops. When a seat belt is used, the lap belt portion should be placed as low and snugly aspossible on the hips, not across the abdomen. For specific recommenda- tions, consult a physician. B150G01A-AAT Do Not Lie Down To reduce the chance of injuries in the event of an accident and to achieve maximum effectiveness of the restraintsystem, all passengers should be sit- ting up and the front seats should be in an upright position when the car ismoving. A seat belt cannot provide proper protection if the person is lying down in the rear seat or if the front seatis in a reclined position. WARNING:
Sitting in a reclined position or ly-ing down when your vehicle is in motion can be dangerous. Even if you buckle up, your seat belts can'tdo their job when you're reclined. The shoulder belt can't do its job because it won't be against yourbody. Instead, it will be in front of you. In a crash you could go into it with great force, receiving seriousneck or other injuries. The lap belt can't do its job either. In a crash the belt could go up overyour abdomen. The belt forces would be applied there, not at your strong pelvic bones.This could cause serious internal injuries. For proper protection when the ve-hicle is in motion, have the seatback upright. Then sit back in the seat and wear your seat belt properly.
B150F01A-AAT One Person Per Belt Two people (including children) should never attempt to use a single seat belt.This could increase the severity of injuries in case of an accident.

If small children ride in your vehicle you must put them in a child restraint system (safety seat).Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properly secured. For small children and ba-bies, a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits yourcar and seat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manufacturer when installing thechild restraint system.

If you need to tighten the belt, pull more webbing toward the retractor. When youunbuckle the seat belt and allow it to retract, the retractor will automatically revert back to its normal seated pas-senger emergency locking usage con- dition. NOTE:
o Before installing the child re-
straint system, read the instruc- tions supplied by the child re- straint system manufacturer.
o If the seat belt does not operate as described, have the systemchecked immediately by yourauthorized Hyundai dealer.
WARNING:
Do not install any child restraintsystem in the front passenger seat. Should an accident occur and cause the passenger side airbag to de-ploy, it could severely injure or kill an infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Therefore, only use achild restraint system in the rear seat of your vehicle. B230B02GK-GAT Using a Child Restraint System with "Tether Anchorage" Sys-tem For small children and babies, the use of a child seat or infant seat is required. This child seat or infant seat should be of appropriate size for the child andshould be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It is further required that the seat be placedin the vehicle's rear seat since this can make an important contribution to safety. B230G01A-GAT Installation on the Outboard Rear Seats To install a child restraint system in the outboard rear seats, extend the shoul-der/lap belt from its retractor. Install the child restraint system, buckle the seat belt and allow the seat belt to takeup any slack. Make sure that the lap portion of the belt is tight around the child restraint system and the shoulderportion of the belt is positioned so that it cannot interfere with the child's head or neck. After installation of the childrestraint system, try to move it in all directions to be sure the child restraint system is securely installed.On outboard rear seats

1. Open the tether anchor cover on the
rear luggage compartment floor.
2. Route the child restraint seat strap over the seatback. For vehicles with adjustable head- rests, route the tether strap underthe headrest and between the head- rest posts, otherwise route the tether strap over the top of the seatback.3. Remove the load space cover.

ISOFIX is a standardised method of fitting child seats that eliminates the need to use the standard adult seat belt to secure the seat in the vehicle.This enables a much more secure and positive location with the added benefit of easier and quicker installation.

2. Connect the tether strap hook to the
child restraint hook holder and tighten to secure the seat. Refer to "Securing a Child Restraint System with the Tether Anchorage System"on page 1-26.
WARNING:
o There is no center rear seating position.
o Do not install a child restraint seat at the center of the rear seatusing the vehicle's ISOFIX an- chors. The ISOFIX anchors are only provided for the left andright outboard of the rear seat. Do not misuse the ISOFIX an- chors by attempting to attach achild restraint seat in the middle of the rear seat to the ISOFIX anchors. In a crash, the childrestraint seat ISOFIX attachments may not be strong enough to secure the child restraint seatproperly in the center of the rear seat and may break, causing se- rious injury or death.o When using the vehicle’s “ISOFIX”
system to install a child restraint system in the rear seat, all unused vehicle rear seat belt metal latchplates or tabs must be latched securely in their seat belt buckles and the seat belt webbing must beretracted behind the child restraint to prevent the child from reaching and taking hold of unretracted seat
belts. Unlatched metal latch plates or tabs may allow the child to reach the unretracted seat beltswhich may result in strangulation and a serious injury or death to the child in the child restraint.
o Do not mount more than one child restraint to a child restraint loweranchorage point. The improperincreased load may cause the an- chorage points or tether anchor to break, causing serious injury ordeath.
o Attach the ISOFIX or ISOFIX-com-
patible child restraint seat onlyto the appropriate locations shown in the illustration. o Always follow the installation and
use instructions provided by themanufacturer of the child re- straint.
