61HAZARD WARNING SYSTEM
B370A01A-AAT The hazard warning system should be used whenever you find it necessaryto stop the car in a hazardous situa- tion. When you must make such an emergency stop, always pull off theroad as far as possible. The hazard warning lights are turned on by pushing in the hazard switch.This causes all turn signal lights to blink. The hazard warning lights will operate even though the key is not inthe ignition. To turn the hazard warning lights off, push the switch a second time.

REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH
B380A02A-AAT The rear window defroster and heated outside rearview mirrors are turned on by pushing in the switch. To turn the defroster off, push the switch a secondtime. The rear window defroster auto- matically turns itself off after about 20 minutes. To restart the defroster cycle,push in the switch again after it has turned itself off. CAUTION:
Do not clean the inner side of the rear window glass with an abrasive type of glass cleaner or use a scraper to remove foreign deposits fromthe inner surface of the glass as this may cause damage to the de- froster elements. NOTE: The engine must be running for the rear window defroster to operate.

SPECTACLE CASEMAP LIGHT
B480A02GK-GAT
(1) Push in the map light switch to turn on the driver side light.
(2) In the "DOOR" position, the interior courtesy light comes on when any door is opened regardless of theignition key position. The light goes out gradually 6 seconds after the door is closed.
(3) Push in the map light switch to turn on the front passenger side light. B491A03O-GAT (If Installed) The spectacle case is located on the front overhead console. Push the end of the cover to open thespectacle case.
WARNING:
o Do not keep objects such as sharp or unsuitable things inside thespectacle case. Such objects canbe thrown out in the event of a sudden stop or an accident, pos- sibly injuring the passengers inthe vehicle.
o Do not open the spectacle case
while the vehicle is moving. Therear view mirror of the vehicle can be blocked by an open spectacle case.

To avoid the possibility of injury in case of an accident or sudden stop,the glove box door should be kept closed when the car is in motion.
To open the glove box, pull on the glovebox release lever.

OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR
B510B01Y-AAT Electric Type The outside rearview mirrors can be adjusted to your preferred rear vision, both directly behind the vehicle, and tothe rear of the left and right sides. The remote control outside rearview mirror switch controls the adjustmentsfor both the right and left outside mir- ror. OGK046026L

To Adjust the Position of Either Mirror:
1. Move the selecting switch to the
right or left to activate the adjustable mechanism for the corresponding door mirror.
2. Now, adjust the mirror angle by
depressing the appropriate perim-eter switch as illustrated.
CAUTION:
o Do not operate the switch con- tinuously for an unnecessarylength of time.
o Scraping ice from the mirror face
could cause permanent damage.To remove any ice, use a sponge, soft cloth or approved de-icer.
WARNING:
Be careful when judging the size ordistance of any object seen in the passenger side rearview mirror. It is a convex mirror with a curvedsurface. Any objects seen in this mirror are closer than they appear.

B510D01HP-GAT Outside Rearview Mirror Heater (If Installed)
The outside rearview mirror heater is actuated in connection with the rearwindow defroster. To heat the outside rearview mirror glass, push in the switch for the rear window defroster. Therearview mirror glass will be heated for defrosting or defogging and will give you improved rear vision in inclementweather conditions.

B510C01A-AAT Folding the Outside Rearview Mirrors To fold the outside rearview mirrors, push them towards the rear.The outside rearview mirrors can be folded rearward for parking in narrow areas. WARNING:
Do not adjust or fold the outsiderearview mirrors while the vehicle is moving. This could result in loss of control,and an accident which could cause death, serious injury or property damage. HGK2055
Push the switch again to turn the heateroff. The outside rearview mirror heaterautomatically turns itself off after 20 minutes.

B520A01A-AAT Manual Type Your Hyundai is equipped with a day/ night inside rearview mirror. The "night"position is selected by flipping the tab at the bottom of the mirror toward you. In the "night" position, the glare ofheadlights of cars behind you is re- duced.

PARKING BRAKE
B530A03A-AAT Always engage the parking brake be- fore leaving the car. This also turns on the parking brake indicator light whenthe key is in the "ON" or "START" position. Before driving away, be sure that the parking brake is fully released and the indicator light is off. Applying the parking brake To engage the parking brake, first apply the foot brake and then without press- ing the release button in, pull the park- ing brake lever up as far as possible. Inaddition it is recommended that when parking the vehicle on a gradient, the shift lever should be positioned in theappropriate low gear on manual transaxle vehicles or in the P (Park) position on automatic transaxle vehicles. 1. Pressing the button turns the
auto-dimming function OFF which is indicated by the green Status Indicator LED turning off.
2. Pressing the button again turns the auto-dimming function ON whichis indicated by the green StatusIndicator LED turning on.

3TO START THE ENGINEBEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
C020A02A-AAT Before you start the engine, you should always:
1. Look around the vehicle to be sure there are no flat tires, puddles of oil, water or other indications of pos- sible trouble.
2. After entering the car, check to be sure the parking brake is engaged.
3. Check that all windows, and lights are clean.
4. Check that the interior and exterior
mirrors are clean and in position.
5. Check your seat, seatback and headrest to be sure they are in theirproper positions.
6. Close all the doors.
7. Fasten your seat belt and be sure
that all other occupants have fas- tened theirs.
8. Turn off all lights and accessories
that are not needed.
9. When you turn the ignition switch to "ON", check that all appropriatewarning lights are operating andthat you have sufficient fuel.
10.Check the operation of warning
lights and all bulbs when key is inthe "ON" position. C030A01A-GAT COMBINATION IGNITION SWITCH
o If your Hyundai is equipped with a
manual transaxle, place the shift lever in neutral and depress the clutch pedal fully.
o If your Hyundai has an automatic
transaxle, place the shift lever in "P"(park).
o To start the engine, insert the igni- tion key and turn it to the "START"position. Release it as soon as the engine starts. Do not hold the key inthe "START" position for more than 15 seconds.
NOTE: For safety, the engine will not start if the shift lever is not in "P" or "N" Position (Automatic Transaxle).
!WARNING:
Always wear appropriate shoes when operating your vehicle.Unsuitable shoes (high heels, ski boots, etc.) may interfere with your ability to use the brake and accelera-tor pedal, and the clutch (if installed).
