o If battery electrolyte is spilled onto
skin or into eyes, the effected area must be flushed with copiousamounts of water and medical assis- tance sought.
o If battery electrolyte is ingested, copious amounts of water or milkfollowed by an ant-acid (raw egg or milk of magnesia) must be drunk.Vomiting should not be induced and medical assistance must be sought.
o Batteries must only be charged in well venti-lated areas from whichnaked lights or sources of sparks are excluded.
o Ensure that children, pets or other unauthorized persons are kept awayfrom batteries.
o Do not allow anything to bridge the positive (+) and negative (-) termi-nals of the battery.
o Never invert the battery. The battery fitted during production is of the "Maintenance Free" type.

WARNING:
Motor vehicle batteries contain sulphuric acid which is corrosive and poisonous. Hydrogen gas isemitted from the battery which is explosive when combined with oxy- gen. The following precautions mustbe strictly observed to avoid per- sonal injury or damage to the ve- hicle.

WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by en- gine coolant temperature and maysometimes operate even when the engine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near theblades of the cooling fan so that you are not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem-perature decreases, the fan will auto- matically shut off. This is a normal condition. The engine cooling fan should operate before the temperature gauge reachesthe upper portion of the scale and the condenser fan should operate when- ever the air conditioning is in use.

SG230B1-E POWER STEERING HOSES Power steering hoses should be checked for damage, deterioration andleakage at each service.
steering fluid level is between the "MAX" and "MIN" level markings on the fluid reservoir. NOTE: Grinding noise from power steering pump may be heard immediatelyafter the engine is started in extremely
cold condition (below -4°F). If the noise stops during warm up, there isno abnormal function in the system. This is due to a power steering fluid characteristic in extremely cold con-ditions. FLUID RECOMMENDATION Only automatic transmission fluid meet- ing the specification of Dexron 2 shouldbe used in the power steering system.
G300A01TB-GAT REMOVAL OF WATER FROM THE FUEL FILTER(DIESEL ENGINE) If the fuel filter warning lamp illuminates during driving, it indicates that waterhas accumulated in the fuel filter. If this occurs, remove the water as described.
SG230A2-E POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL The power steering fluid level should be checked daily.To check the power steering fluid level, be sure the ignition is "OFF", then check to make certain that the power

6. Draw the vertical line (through the
center of each headlight beam pat-tern) and the horizontal line (throughthe center of each headlight beam pattern) on the aiming screen. And then, draw the horizontal paral- lel line at 1.18 in. (30 mm ) under the horizontal line.
7. Adjust each cut-off line of the low beam to the parallel line with a phillipsscrewdriver - VERTICAL AIMING.
8. Adjust each cut-off line of the low

G290A01FC-EAT HEADLIGHT AIMING ADJUST- MENT Before performing aiming adjustment, make sure of the following.
1. Keep all tyres inflated to the correct pressure.
2. Place the vehicle on level ground
and press the front bumper and rear bumper down several times. Place the vehicle at a distance of 118 in. (3,000 mm) from the test wall.
3. See that the vehicle is unloaded (except for full levels of coolant,engine oil and fuel, and spare tyre,jack, and tools).
4. Clean the head lights lens and turn
on the headlight (low beam). WARNING:
Be sure to carefully wipe away anywater drained out in this manner, because the fuel mixed in the water might be ignited and result in a fire.
1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Disconnect the air intake hose from air cleaner cover.
3. Loosen the drain plug at the bottom
of the fuel filter.
4. Tighten the drain plug when water no longer comes out.
5. Check to be sure that the warning lamp illuminates when the ignition key is turned to "ON", and that it goes off when the engine is started.If in doubt, consult your nearest Hyundai authorised repairer.

Replacement instructions:
1. Allow the bulb to cool. Wear eye
protection.
2. Always grasp the bulb by its plastic base, avoid touching the glass.
3. Disconnect the power cord from the bulb base in the back of the head-light.
4. Remove the dust cover. 5. Push the bulb spring for removing
the headlight bulb. 6. Remove the protective cap from the
replacement bulb and install the new bulb by matching the plastic basewith the headlight hole. Install the dust cover after retightening the bulb spring and reconnect the power cord.
7. Use the protective cap and carton to dispose of the old bulb.
8. Check for proper headlight aim.
WARNING
The halogen bulb contains gas un-der pressure and if impacted couldshatter, resulting in flying fragments. Always wear eye protection when servicing the bulb. Protect the bulbagainst abrasions or scratches and against liquids when lighted. Turn on the bulb only when installed in aheadlight. Replace the headlight if damaged or cracked. Keep the bulb out of the reach of children and dis-pose of the used bulb with care.

I050A01TB-EAT TYRE CHAINS Tyre chains, if necessary, should be installed on the front wheels. Be surethat the chains are the proper size and that they are installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.To minimize tyre and chain wear, do not continue to use tyre chains when they are no longer needed.
SI030A2-E SNOW TYRES If it is desired to fit snow tyres to the vehicle, it must be ascertained that theoriginal size and load carrying capacity are met by the replacement tyres. When using snow tyres, the vehicle shouldnot be driven at speeds in excess of 60 MPH.
I060A01FC-EAT TYRE ROTATION The tyre wear characteristics will vary between each tyre dependant upon the conditions of use. It is normal for the front tyres to wear more rapidly thanthose fitted to the rear of the vehicle and therefore tyre rotation will provide a means of helping to ensure an evenwear rate across the tyre set. For ve- hicles fitted with radial ply tyres, rota- tion should be confined to front to reartyre alternation. It is not recommended that radial ply tyres be rotated from side to side.
WARNING:
o When driving on roads covered with snow or ice, drive at lessthan 30 km/h (20 mph).
o Use the SAE "S" class or wire & plastic chains.
o Don't use the tyre chains in 185/ 55R 15 tyre to prevent body dam- age.
o If you have noise caused by chaws contacting the body, retighten thechain to avoid contact with the vehicle body.
o Retighten the chains to prevent from a body damage after driving0.5 ~ 1 km with equipping chains.

SI060B1-E TYRE REPLACEMENT Tyres must be replaced when the wear indicators appear as a solid bar acrossthe tyre tread. At this point, the remain- ing tread depth will be approximately 0.06 in.(1.6 mm). In addition to this, thetyre must be replaced if any portion of the tread has become bald or if there are any lumps, bulges or deep cuts in thesidewalls or tread. Replacement tyres must be of the rec- ommended size and rating and shouldbe of the same manufacture and tread pattern on each axle. SI060D2-E WHEEL REPLACEMENT

o Aluminium wheels which are not
supplied as Original Equipment should not be mixed on the same vehicle with the original steelwheels. However, it is acceptable that the steel spare wheel be used in conjunction with Original Equip-ment aluminium wheels since the offset of both wheels is compat- ible. Radial and cross ply tyresshould not be mixed on the same vehicle.
SI060A1-E TYRE BALANCING Incorrect tyre balance will cause steer- ing vibration and uneven tyre wear. The vehicle tyres are balanced during pro-duction but may need further balancing throughout the life of the tyres. It is recommended that the tyres bebalanced on the car for best results and that the tyres are balanced whenever they have been removed from the wheelfor repair. The original wheels may only be re- placed with Hyundai Approved wheels.
WARNING:
Driving on worn or defective tyres is dangerous. Worn tyres may cause loss of steering control and a seri- ous deterioration of braking effi-ciency. Defective tyres may cause vibration and loss of control through blow outs. Tyres of different size, construction or tread pattern should not be intermixed on the same axle. Radial and cross plytyres should not be used on the same vehicle. The use of tyres and wheels of nonapproved sizes can be dangerous.
