o If the interior of the car is hot when
you first get in, open the windows for a few minutes to expel the hot air.
o When you are using the air condi-
tioning system, keep all windowsclosed to keep hot air out.
o When moving slowly, as in heavy
traffic, shift to a lower gear. Thisincreases engine speed, which in turn increases the speed of the air conditioning compressor.
o On steep grades, turn the air condi- tioning off to avoid the possibility ofthe engine over-heating.
o During winter months or in periods when the air conditioning is not usedregularly, run the air conditioningonce every month for a few min- utes. This will help circulate the lubricants and keep your system inpeak operating condition. Inside of a vehicle

A Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is recommended when filter is replaced. F060J01A-AAT
o Spark plugs
Make sure to install new spark plugs of the correct heat range.
F060G01A-EAT o Vapour hose and fuel filler cap The vapour hose and fuel filler cap should be inspected at those intervals specified in the maintenance sched- ule. Make sure that a new vapourhose or fuel filler cap is correctly re- placed. 6ZF060F1-A
o Vacuum, crankcase
ventilation hoses
Inspect the surface of hoses for evi- dence of heat and/or mechanical dam-age. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessive swelling indicate deterioration. Par-ticular attention should be paid to ex- amining those hose surfaces nearest to high heat sources, such as theexhaust manifold.Inspect the hose routing to assurethat the hoses do not come in contact with any heat source, sharp edges or moving component which might causeheat damage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clamps and couplings, to make surethey are secure, and that no leaks are present. SG050C2-E Engine Coolant Level The engine coolant level may be ob- served through the side of the plasticcoolant reservoir (expansion tank) when the engine is cold. If the level is below the "LOW" mark, add coolant of thecorrect concentration until the level is between the "LOW" and "Full" marks. If the level falls below the "LOW" mark ona regular basis despite being topped up, consult a Hyundai authorised repairer.
!WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by en- gine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when theengine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so that youare not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem- perature decreases, the fan will auto-matically shut off. This is a normal condition.

1. Remove the engine cover (Not all
models).
2. Unsnap the clips around the cover.
3. Lift the cover off.
4. Remove the old filter and replace to the new one. Genuine Hyundai Re- placement Parts are recommended.
CAUTION:
Operating your vehicle without aproper air filter in place can result in excessive engine wear.

1. Remove the adjusting pins on both
sides of the glove box to open half the glove box.

SG140D1-E Off Season Maintenance The air conditioning must be run for ten minutes or so weekly during periodswhen the system would not normally be used to ensure that the compressor and seals are lubricated. If this precautionis not observed the compressor seals may become stuck to the compressor shaft and damaged when the system isnext used resulting in a loss of refriger- ant and damage to the compressor.
3. Remove the filter cover to push theupside of the filter cover.

G290A01FC-EAT HEADLIGHT AIMING ADJUST- MENT Before performing aiming adjustment, make sure of the following.
1. Keep all tyres inflated to the correct
pressure.
2. Place the vehicle on level ground and press the front bumper and rear bumper down several times. Place the vehicle at a distance of 118 in.(3,000 mm) from the test wall.
3. See that the vehicle is unloaded
(except for full levels of coolant,engine oil and fuel, and spare tyre, jack, and tools).
4. Clean the head lights lens and turn on the headlight (low beam).
WARNING:
Be sure to carefully wipe away any water drained out in this manner, because the fuel mixed in the water might be ignited and result in a fire. Extracting air in the fuel filter If you drove until you have no fuel left or if you replaced the fuel filter, be sure to extract air in the fuel system as it makes you difficult to start the engine.
1) Remove the air extract nozzle cap on the fuel filter.
2) Pump up and down until the fuel flows out of the plug opening.
NOTE: Use cloths when you extract air so that the fuel is not sprayed around.Clean the fuel around the fuel filter or the injection pump before starting the engine to prevent fire. Finally,check each part if the fuel is leaking.

G300A02TB-EAT REMOVAL OF WATER FROM THE FUEL FILTER(DIESEL ENGINE) If the fuel filter warning lamp illuminates during driving, it indicates that waterhas accumulated in the fuel filter. If this occurs, remove the water as described. NOTE: It is recommended that water accu- mulated in the fuel filter should be removed by an authorised Hyundai dealer.
