Press the SEEK switch 1 sec. or more.
1. RADIO mode When the upper SEEK switch is pressed, the unit will automatically tune to the next higher frequency and when thelower SEEK switch is pressed, it will automatically tune to the next lower frequency.
MODE Switch Press the MODE switch to select Ra- dio, Tape, CD (Compact Disc). Each press of the switch changes the display as follows:

2. TAPE mode

o Press the upper SEEK switch once to skip forward to the beginning of the next track.
o Press the lower SEEK switch once to skip back to the beginning of thetrack.

o Never take the car out of gear and
coast down a hill. This is extremely hazardous. Always leave the car in gear.
o Don't "ride" the brakes. This can
cause them to overheat and mal-function. Instead, when you are driv- ing down a long hill, slow down andshift to a lower gear. When you do this, engine braking will help slow the car.
o Slow down before shifting to a lower gear. This will help avoid over-rev-ving the engine, which can causedamage.
o Slow down when you encounter
cross winds. This gives you muchbetter control of your car.
o Be sure the car is completely stopped
before you attempt to shift into re-verse. The transaxle can be dam- aged if you do not. To shift into reverse, depress the clutch, movethe shift lever to neutral, wait three seconds, then shift to the reverse position.
o Exercise extreme caution when driv- ing on a slippery surface. Be espe-cially careful when braking, acceler-

C070B01A-AAT Using the Clutch The clutch should be pressed all the way to the floor before shifting, thenreleased slowly. The clutch pedal should always be used after fully re- turning to the original position. Do notrest your foot on the clutch pedal while driving. This can cause unnecessary wear. Do not partially engage the clutchto hold the car on an incline. This causes unnecessary wear. Use the parking brake to hold the car on anincline. Do not operate the clutch pedal rapidly and repeatedly.

CAUTION:
o Shift into "R", "D" and "P" posi- tion only when the vehicle has completely stopped.
o Do not accelerate the engine in reverse or any of the forwardpositions with the brakes applied.
o Always apply the footbrake when shifting from "P" or "N", to "R",
"D", "2" or "L" position.
o Do not use the "P" (Park) posi- tion in place of the parking brake.Always set the parking brake, shift the transaxle into "P" (Park)position and turn off the ignition when you leave the vehicle, even momentarily. Never leave the ve-hicle unattended while the en- gine is running.

o Never move the gear selector lever
from "P" or "N" to any other position with the accelerator pedal de- pressed.
o Never move the gear selector lever into "P" when the vehicle is in mo-tion.
o Be sure the car is completely stopped before you attempt to shift into "R"and "D".
o Never take the car out of gear and coast down a hill. This may be ex-tremely hazardous. Always leavethe car in gear when moving.
o Do not "ride" the brakes. This can

o Exercise extreme caution when driv-
ing on a slippery surface. Be espe-cially careful when braking, acceler- ating or shifting gears. On a slippery surface, an abrupt change in ve-hicle speed can cause the drive wheels to lose traction and the ve- hicle to go out of control.
o Optimum vehicle performance and economy is obtained by smoothlydepressing and releasing the accel-erator pedal.
o Turn the overdrive switch on for good
fuel economy and smooth driving. Ifengine braking is needed in the "D" range or if repeated upshifting and downshifting between 3rd and 4thgear is needed when climbing a gentle slope, it is recommended that the overdrive switch be turned off. Turnthe overdrive switch back on imme- diately afterward.
o Check the automatic transaxle fluidlevel regularly, and add fluid as necessary.
o See the maintenance schedule for
the proper fluid recommendation.

WARNING:
Nothing should be carried on top of the shelf panel behind the rear seat. If there were an accident or a sud- den stop, such objects could moveforward and cause damage to the vehicle or injure the occupants.
o After being parked, check to be sure the parking brake is not engaged and that the parking brake indicatorlight is out before driving away.
o Driving through water may get the
brakes wet. They can also get wet
when the car is washed. Wet brakes can be dangerous! Your car will not
stop as quickly if the brakes are wet.Wet brakes may cause the car to pull to one side. To dry the brakes, apply the brakes lightly until the brak-

When the overdrive switch is turned on, the transaxle will automatically upshift to the second, third and overdrive gears. When the overdrive switch is turned off,the transaxle will not upshift to the over- drive gear. For normal driving, the selec- tor lever should be left in the "D" positionand the overdrive switch turned on.

Do not attempt this proce- dure if people or objects are any- where near the vehicle. During the rocking operation the vehicle may suddenly move for-ward of backward as it becomes unstuck, causing injury or dam- age to nearby people or objects.
If you need to accelerate rapidly, press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. The transaxle will automaticallyshift to a lower gear, depending on the vehicle speed and load.

6. Check the condition and air pres-
sure of all tires on the trailer and your car. Low tire pressure canseriously affect the handling. Also check the spare tire.
7. The vehicle/trailer combination is more affected by crosswind andbuffeting. When being passed by a largevehicle, keep a constant speed and steer straight ahead. If there is too much wind buffeting slow downto get out of the other vehicle's air turbulence.
8. When parking your car and trailer, especially on a hill, be sure to fol-low all the normal precautions. Turn your front wheel into the curb, setthe parking brake firmly, and put the transaxle in 1st or Reverse (manual) or Park (automatic). Inaddition, place wheel chocks at each of the trailer's tires.
9. If the trailer has electric brakes, start your vehicle and trailer mov-ing, and then apply the trailer brake controller by hand to be sure thebrakes are working. This lets you check your electrical connection at the same time. 10. During your trip, check occasion-
ally to be sure that the load issecure, and that the lights andany trailer brakes are still working.
11. Avoid jerky starts, sudden accel-
eration or sudden stops.
12. Avoid sharp turns and rapid lane changes.
13. Avoid holding the brake pedal down
too long or too frequently. This could cause the brakes to over- heat, resulting in reduced brakingefficiency.
14. When going down a hill, shift into a
lower gear and use the engine brak-ing effect. When ascending a long grade, downshift the transaxle to a lowergear and reduce speed to reduce chances of engine overloading and/ or overheating.
15. If you have to stop while going uphill, do not hold the vehicle inplace by pressing on the accelera-tor. This can cause the automatic transaxle to overheat. Use the park- ing brake or footbrake.

1. Before towing, check hitch and
safety chain connections as well as proper operation of the trailerrunning lights, brake lights, and turn signals.
2. Always drive your vehicle at a mod- erate speed (Less than 100 km/h).
3. Trailer towing requires more fuel
than normal conditions.
4. To maintain engine braking effi- ciency and electrical charging per- formance, do not use fifth gear(manual transaxle) or overdrive (au- tomatic transaxle).
5. Always secure items in the trailer to prevent load shift while driving.

Take out the jack case and tool bag, then remove the spare tire from the luggage room. NOTE: The jack case is located on the spare tire in the vehicle.
Hang the luggage room mat to the mat hanger and remove the luggage under tray (If installed).

After you have changed wheels, al- ways secure the flat tire in its place in the luggage room and return the jackand tools to their proper storage loca- tions. D080A01O-GAT IF YOUR VEHICLE MUST BE TOWED If your vehicle has to be towed, it should be done by your Hyundai dealeror a commercial tow truck service. This will help assure that your vehicle is not damaged in towing. Also, profes-sionals are generally aware of local laws governing towing. In any case, rather than risk damage to your car, itis suggested that you show this infor- mation to the tow truck operator. Be sure that a safety chain system is usedand that all local laws are observed. It is recommended that your vehicle be towed with a wheel lift and dollies orflatbed equipment with all the wheels off the ground.

Use very light finger pressure and be sen- sitive to changes in resistance thatmark the limits of the free-play. If the freeplay is greater than specified, have it inspected by your Hyundai dealerand adjusted or repaired if necessary.

WARNING:
o Driving on worn-out tires is dan- gerous! Worn-out tires can cause
loss of braking effectiveness, steering control and traction. When replacing tires, never mixradial and bias-ply tires on the same car. If you replace radial tires with bias-ply tires, they mustbe installed in sets of four.
o Using tires and wheels of other
than the recommended sizes maycause unusual handling charac- teristics that may cause death, serious injury or property dam-age.
o Tires degrade over time, even when
they are not being used. Regard-less of the remaining tread, it is recommended that tires generally be replaced after six (6) years ofnormal service. Heat caused by hot climates or frequent high load- ing conditions can accelerate theaging process. Failure to follow this warning can result in sudden tire failure, which could lead to aloss of control and an accident involving serious injury or death.

The original tires on your car have tread wear indicators. The tread wear indica- tors appear when the tread depth is 1.6 mm (0.06 in.). The tire should be re-placed when these appear as a solid bar across two or more grooves of the tread. Always replace your tires withthose of the recommended size. If you change wheels, the new wheel's rim width and offset must meet Hyundaispecification.

o When climbing steep gradients us-
ing large throttle openings, the transaxle may re-peatedly changebetween two adjacent ratios. This is a normal characteristic and may be prevented by cancelling the over-drive facility if the shifting occurs between third and fourth ratios, se- lecting position "2" if the shiftingoccurs between third and second ratios or selecting position "1" if the shifting occurs between first andsecond ratios.
o Never move the selector to or from
the "P" or "N" position with the ac-celerator depressed.
o Ensure that the overdrive switch is
at the "ON" position for maximumeconomy.
o If rapid acceleration is required, fully
depress the accelerator pedal. Inthis condition, the kickdown mecha- nism will be operated and the transaxle will automatically down-shift according to the vehicle speed. o The automatic transaxle may be used
to great effect if the vehicle becomesstuck in snow or mud by allowing thevehicle to be rocked to and fro. The engine speed should be held at ap- proximately 1,000rpm by means ofthe accelerator pedal and the selec- tor lever moved between the "D" and "R" positions to induce a rockingmotion.
o Do not depress the accelerator pedal
with the brakes applied and the se-lector at the "R", "D", "2" or "L" position.
o Turn the overdrive switch on for
good fuel economy and smooth driv-ing. But if engine braking is needed in the "D" range or if repeated up-shifting and downshifting between the 3rd and 4th gear is needed when climbing a gentle slope, it is recom-mended that the overdrive switch be turned off. Turn the overdrive switch back on immediately after-ward.
