4. Windshield Defrost Ventilator B710B01A-AAT Center Ventilator The center ventilators are located in the middle of the dashboard. To change the direction of the airflow,turn the control knob on the middle of the ventilator as desired.
B710A01L-AAT VENTILATION To operate the ventilation system:
o Set the air intake control at the fresh
air ( ) position.
o To direct all intake air to the dash-
board vents, set the airflow control
to the face ( ) position.
o Adjust the fan speed control to the
desired speed.

B710C01Y-AAT Side Ventilator The side vent knobs control the amount of outside air entering the vehicle through the side vents. These vents can also be closed,so no air enters through the sidevents. To change the direction of the air flow, turn the control knobs as desired.

NOTE:
o It should be noted that prolonged
operation of the heating system in " " mode will give rise tomisting of the windshield and side windows and the air within the passenger compartment willbecome stale. In addition pro- longed use of the air condition- ing with the " " mode selectedmay result in the air within the passenger compartment becom- ing excessively dry.
o When the ignition switch is turned "ON", the air intake con-trol will change to " " mode(regardless of switch position). This is normal operation.

B670D01L-AAT Air Flow Control
This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboard outlets, or windshield. Five symbolsare used to represent Face, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost and Defrost air position. Face-Level
Selecting the "Face" mode will causeair to be discharged through the face level vents.

Bi-Level
Air is discharged through the face vents and the floor vents. This makes it possible to have cooler air from the dashboard vents and warmer air fromthe floor outlets at the same time.
Floor-Level
Air is discharged through the floor vents, windshield defroster nozzle, side de- froster nozzle, side ventilator. Floor-Defrost Level
Air is discharged through the wind- shield defrost nozzle, the floor vents, side defroster nozzle, side ventilator.If the "Floor-Defrost" mode is selected, the A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated. B670D05L-1
Defrost-Level
Air is discharged through the wind-shield defrost nozzle, side defroster nozzle, side ventilator. If the "Defrost" mode is selected, theA/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated. B670D06L-1

Exhaust gas cutoff mode :
Air enters the vehicle from the outside. But if exhaust gas enters the vehicle from the outside, the exhaust gas cut-off mode ( ) is automatically con- verted to the ( ) mode, to prevent exhaust gas from entering the vehicle. NOTE:
o It should be noted that prolonged operation of the heating system in recirculation mode ( ) will give rise to misting of the winds- hield and side windows and theair within the passenger com- partment will become stale. In addition, prolonged use of theair conditioning with the recircu- lation mode ( ) selected may result in the air within the pas-senger compartment becoming excessively dry. B980D01Y-AAT Heating and Cooling System Off Press the "OFF" button to stop the operation of the heating and cooling system.
o When the ignition switch is turned
"ON", the air intake control will change to ( ) mode (regardless
of switch position). This is normal operation. The air intake control operates in "AUTO" mode whenturning the ignition to the ON po- sition if the "AUTO" mode was used before shutting off the en-gine.
CAUTION:
If the windows fog up with the Re- circulation or A.Q.S mode selected, set the air intake control to the Fresh air position or A.Q.S control to "OFF".

Bi-Level
When selecting the "Bi-Level" mode, the indicator light will come on and the air will be discharged through the face vents and the floor vents. This makesit possible to have cooler air from the dashboard vents and warmer air from the floor outlets at the same time. Floor-Level
When selecting the "Floor-Level" mode,the indicator light will come on and theair will be discharged through the floor vents, windshield defrost nozzle, side defroster nozzle, side ventilator. B670D04L-1 B670D05L-1B670D02L
Face-Level
When selecting the "Face" mode, the indicator light will come on, causing air to be discharged through the face levelvents.

o The playback head, capstan and
pinch rollers will develop a coating of tape residue that can result in dete-rioration of sound quality, such as a wavering sound. They should be cleaned monthly using a commer-cially available head cleaning tape or special solution available from audio specialty shops. Follow the supplier'sdirections carefully and never oil any part of the tape player unit.
o Always be sure that the tape is tightly wound on its reel before inserting inthe player. Rotate a pencil in the drive sprockets to wind up any slack. B860A03L
NOTE: Look at a tape before you insert it. If the tape is loose, tighten it byturning one of the hubs with a pencil or your finger. If the label is peeling off, do not putit in the drive mechanism. Do not leave tapes sitting where they are exposed to hot, warm, orhigh humidity, such as on top of the dashboard or in the player. If a tape is exposed to excessivelyhot or cold, let it reach a moderate temperature before putting it in the player.B870B01Y-AAT ANTENNA Power Antenna (If installed) The antenna will automatically be ex- tended when the radio power switch isturned on while the ignition key is in either the "ON" or "ACC" position. The antenna will automatically be retractedand stored when either the radio power switch is turned off or the ignition key is set to the "LOCK" position. B870B03L
