1. Playing CD
o Insert the CD with the label facing
upward.
o Insert the CD to start CD playback, during radio operation or cassette tape playing.
o When a disc is in the CD deck, if you press the play button the CD playerwill begin playing even if the radio orcassette player is being used.
o The CD player can be used when
the ignition switch is in either the"ON" or "ACC" position.
2. FF/REW While the disc is playing, if you hold down the FF button continuously, the selected track is advanced. Holding down the REW button continuouslymoves the selected track back.
3. TRACK UP/DOWN
o The desired track on the disc cur- rently being played can be selected using the track number.
o Press once to skip forward to the beginning of the next track.
o Press once to skip back to the
beginning of the track. 4. SCAN (If installed)
o Press the SCAN button to playback
the first 10 seconds of each track.
o Press the SCAN button again within
10 sec. when you have reached the desired track.
5. REPEAT
o To repeat the track you are currently listening to, press the RPT button. To cancel , press again.
o If you do not release RPT operation
after all the tracks are played back,the unit will play back again from the first track.
6. EQ Button Press the EQ button to select the CLASSIC, JAZZ, ROCK and DEFEAT MODE for the desired tone quality. Each press of the button changes thedisplay as follows; NOTE:
o To assure proper operation of the
unit, keep the vehicle interior tem- perature within a normal range by using the vehicle's air condition-ing or heating system.
o When replacing the fuse, replace
it with a fuse having the correctcapacity.
o The preset station frequencies
are all erased when the car bat-tery is disconnected. Therefore, all data will have to be set again if this should occur.
o Do not add any oil to the rotating
parts. Keep magnets, screwdriv-ers and other metallic objects away from the tape mechanism and head.
o This equipment is designed to be used only in a 12 volt DCbattery system with negativeground.
o This unit is made of precision
parts. Do not attempt to disas-semble or adjust any parts.

4. When the oil has stopped draining,
replace the drain plug using a new gasket and retighten by turning itclockwise. Oil pan drain plug tightening torque : 3.5 ~4.0 kgf.m
5. Remove the oil filter by turning it counterclockwise with a oil filter wrench of the proper size. A cer- tain amount of oil will come out when you remove the filter. So besure to have your drain pan in place underneath it.
6. Install a new oil filter in accordance with the instructions on the carton or on the filter itself. Do not over-tighten. Oil filter tightening torque : 1.2 ~ 1.6 kgf.m Be sure that the mounting surface on the engine is clean and that theold gasket is removed completely. Lubricate the new gasket on the filter with clean engine oil beforeinstallation. 7. Remove the engine oil level dip-
stick.
8. Refill the crankcase with the rec- ommended engine oil. Refer tothe specification in chapter 9 forengine oil capacity.

CHECKING AND CHANGING THE ENGINE COOLANT
WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap
when the engine is hot. When the engine is hot, the engine coolant is under pressure and may eruptthrough the opening if the cap is removed. You could be seriously burned if you do not observe thisprecaution. Do not remove the ra- diator cap until the radiator is cool to the touch.

WARNING:
Used motor oil may cause irrita- tion or cancer of the skin if left incontact with the skin for prolonged periods of time. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warmwater as soon as possible after handling used oil.
CAUTION
Slowly pour the recommended oil
using by a tunnel. Do not overfill not to damage engine.
9. Start the engine and check to be sure no oil is leaking from the drain plug or oil filter.
10.Shut off the engine and recheck
the oil level.
NOTE: Always dispose of used engine oil
in an environmentally acceptable manner. It is suggested that it be placed in a sealed container andtaken to a service station for recla- mation. Do not pour the oil on the ground or put it in with the house-hold trash.

CHECKING THE TRANSAXLE OIL (MANUAL)
Transaxle lubricant in the manual
transaxle should be checked at those intervals specified in the vehicle main-
tenance schedule in Section 5. Recommended Oil
Use only HYUNDAI GENUINE
PARTS MTF 75W/85 (API GL-4) in the manual transaxle. Manual Transaxle Oil Capacity
The oil capacity of the manual
transaxle is 2.1 liters (2.2 U.S. quarts). Drain plug

It is always better to check the

To check the Transaxle Fluid Level

Park the car on level ground with the engine off.
A good quality washer fluid should be used to fill the washer reservoir. The fluid level should be checked morefrequently during inclement weather or whenever the washer system is in more frequent use.The capacity of the washer reservoiris 3.0 liters (3.2 U.S. quarts).
CAUTION:
o Radiator antifreeze (engine cool- ant) should not be used in thewasher system because it willdamage the car's finish.
o The washer should not be oper-
ated if the washer reservoir is empty. This can damage the washer fluid pump.

To Check the Transaxle Fluid Level
Park the car on level ground with the
parking brake engaged. When the transaxle fluid level is checked, the transaxle fluid should be at normal

NOTE: Basically automatic transaxle fluid is red color. As driving distance increases, the fluid color turns darkish red gradually. It is normal
1. Using a wrench of the correct size,
loosen the oil filler plug by turningit counterclockwise and remove itwith your fingers.
2. Use your finger or suitable tool to
feel inside the hole. The oil level should be at its bottom edge. If it is not, check for leaks before addingoil. To refill the transaxle or bring the oil level up, add oil slowly until it reaches the proper level. Do notoverfill.
3. Replace the plug, screw it in with
your fingers and then tighten se-curely with the wrench. condition and you should not use fluid color as a criterion for replac- ing the transaxle fluid.
You must replace the automatic
transaxle fluid in accordance withintervals specified in the vehicle maintenances schedule in section 5. WARNING:
The transaxle fluid level should bechecked when the engine is at normal operating temperature. This means that the engine, radiator,exhaust system etc., are very hot. Exercise great care not to burn yourself during this procedure.
