Starting the engine Information
• The engine will start by pressing theEngine Start/Stop button, only when
the smart key is in the vehicle\b
• Even if the smart key is in the vehi cle, if it is far away from the driver,
the engine may not start\b
• When the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ACC or ON position, if any
door is open, the system checks for
the smart key\b If the smart key is notin the vehicle, the " " indicator
will blink and the warning "Key not
in vehicle" will come on, and if all
doors are closed, the chime will also
sound for about 5 seconds\b The indi
cator will turn off while the vehicle
is moving\b Keep the smart key in the
vehicle when using the ACC position
or if the vehicle engine is ON\b
Starting the petrol engine
Vehicle with Manual Transaxle :
1. Always carry the smart key with you.
2. Make sure the parking brake is applied.
3. Make sure the shift lever is in neu tral.
4. Depress the clutch and brake ped als.
5. Press the Engine Start/Stop but ton.
Vehicle with Automatic Transaxle/
Continuously Variable Transaxle :
1. Always carry the smart key with you.
2. Make sure the parking brake is applied.
3. Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park).
4. Depress the brake pedal.

•Always wear appropriate shoes
when operating your vehicle.
Unsuitable shoes\b such as high
heels\b ski boots\b sandals\b flip
flops\b etc.\b may interfere with
your ability to use the brake\b
accelerator and clutch pedals.
•Do not start the vehicle with the
accelerator pedal depressed. The
vehicle can move and lead to an
accident.
•Wait until the engine rpm is nor
mal. The vehicle may suddenly
move if the brake pedal is
releas

ed when the rpm is high.

Two labels on your driver’s door sill
show how much weight your vehicle
was designed to carry: the Tire and
Loading Information Label and the
Certification Label.
Before loading your vehicle\b familiar
ize yourself with the following terms
for determining your vehicle's weight
ratings\b from the vehicle's specifica
tions and the Certification Label:Base Curb Weight
This is the weight of the vehicle
including a full tank of fuel and all
standard equipment. It does not
include passengers\b cargo\b or option
al equipment.
Vehicle Curb Weight
This is the weight of your new vehicle
when you picked it up from your deal
er plus any aftermarket equipment.
Cargo Weight
This figure includes all weight added
to the Base Curb Weight\b including
cargo and optional equipment. GAW (Gross Axle Weight)
This is the total weight placed on
each axle (front and rear) including
vehicle curb weight and all payload.
GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating)
This is the maximum allowable
weight that can be carried by a single
axle (front or rear). These numbers
are shown on the Certification Label.
The total load on each axle must
never exceed its GAWR.
GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)
This is the Base Curb Weight plus
actual Cargo Weight plus passen
gers.
GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight
Rating)
This is the maximum allowable
weight of the fully loaded vehicle
(including all options\b equipment\b
passengers and cargo). The GVWR
is shown on the Certification Label
located on the driver’s door sill.Overloading

The Gross Axle Weight Rating
(GAWR) and the Gross Vehicle
Weight Rating (GVWR) for your
vehicle are on the Certification
Label attached to the driver's (or
front passenger’s) door.
Exceeding these ratings can
cause an accident or vehicle dam
age. You can calculate the weight
of your load by weighing the items
(and people) before putting them
in the vehicle. Be careful not to
overload your vehicle.

•• Do not tow the vehicle with 4
wheels on the ground (such as
dinghy towing behind a motorhome
or other m otor vehicle) as this can
seriously damage the
Continuously Variable Transaxle.
• Do not tow the vehicle with the
front wheels on the ground as this
may cause damage to the vehicle.
• Do not tow with sling-type equip-
ment. Use a wheel lift or flatbed
equipment.When towing your vehicle in an
emergency without wheel dollies:
1. Place the ignition switch in the ACC position.
2. Place the shift lever in N (Neutral).
3. Release the parking brake.Failure to place the shift lever in N
(Neutral) when being towed with the
front wheels on the ground can
cause internal damage to the
transaxle.
Removable towing hook 1.Open the trunk, and remove the towing hook from the tool case. 2.Remove the hole cover pressing
the lower part of the cover on the
front bumper.
3.Install the towing hook by turning it clockwise into the hole until it is
fully secured.
4.Remove the towing hook and install the cover after use.

EEmergency towing If towing is necessary, we recom-
mend you have it done by an author-
ized HYUNDAI dealer or a commer-
cial tow truck service. If towing service is not available in an
emergency, your vehicle may be
temporarily towed using a cable or
chain secured to the emergency tow-
ing hook at the front (or rear) of the
vehicle.
Use extreme caution when towing
the vehicle with a cable or chain. A
driver must be in the vehicle to steer
it and operate the brakes.
Towing in this manner may be done
only on hard-surfaced roads for a
short distance and at low speeds.
Also, the wheels, axles, power train,
steering and brakes must all be in
good condition. Always follow these emergency tow-
ing precautions:
• Place the ignition switch in the
ACC position so the steering
wheel is not locked.
• Place the shift lever in N (Neutral).
• Release the parking brake.
• Depress the brake pedal with more force than normal since you will
have reduced braking perform-
ance.
• More steering effort will be required because the power steer-
ing system will be disabled.
• Use a vehicle heavier than your own to tow your vehicle.
• The drivers of both vehicles should communicate with each other fre-
quently.
• Before emergency towing, check that the hook is not broken or dam-
aged.
• Fasten the towing cable or chain securely to the hook.
• Do not jerk the hook. Apply steady and even force.

AAt least monthly:• Check the coolant level in theengine coolant reservoir.
• Check the operation of all exterior lights, including the stoplights, turn
signals and hazard warning flash-
ers.
• Check the inflation pressures of all tires including the spare for tires
that are worn, show uneven wear,
or are damaged.
• Check for loose wheel lug nuts.
At least twice a year (i.e., every Spring and Fall):• Check the radiator, heater and air
conditioning hoses for leaks or
damage.
• Check the windshield washer spray and wiper operation. Clean
wiper blades with clean cloth
dampened with washer fluid.
• Check the headlight alignment.
• Check the muffler, exhaust pipes, shields and clamps.
• Check the lap/shoulder belts for wear and function.
At least once a year:• Clean the body and door drainholes.
• Lubricate the door hinges and checks, and hood hinges.
• Lubricate the door and hood locks and latches.
• Lubricate the door rubber weather- strips.
• Check the air conditioning system.
• Inspect and lubricate Continuously Variable Transaxle linkage and
controls.
• Clean the battery and terminals.
• Check the brake/clutch fluid level.

Temperature -A, B & C The temperature grades are A (the
highest), B, and C, representing the
tire’s resistance to the generation of
heat and its ability to dissipate heat
when tested under controlled condi-
tions on a specified indoor laboratory
test wheel.
Sustained high temperature can
cause the material of the tire to
degenerate and reduce tire life, and
excessive temperature can lead to
sudden tire failure. Grades B and A
represent higher levels of perform-
ance on the laboratory test wheel
than the minimum required by law.
LLow aspect ratio tire
(if equipped) Low aspect ratio tires, whose aspect
ratio is lower than 50, are provided
for sporty looks.
Because the low aspect ratio tires
are optimized for handling and brak-
ing, it may be more uncomfortable to
ride in and there is more noise com-
pare with normal tires.
Tire temperature
The temperature grade for this tire
is established for a tire that is
properly inflated and not over-
loaded. Excessive speed, under-
inflation, or excessive loading,
either separately or in combina-
tion, can cause heat build-up and
sudden tire failure. This can cause
loss of vehicle control a nd serious
injury or death.

1.',204/3424-3LLow Beam Assist-Static Light1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the Low Beam Assist-
Static Light bulb cover by turning it
counterclockwise.
3. Disconnect the Low Beam Assist- Static Light bulb socket-connector.
4. Unsnap the Low Beam Assist- Static Light bulb retaining wire by
depressing the end and pushing it
upward.
5. Remove the bulb from the Low Beam Assist-Static Light assem-
bly. 6. Install a new Low Beam Assist-
Static Light bulb and snap the Low
Beam Assist-Static Light bulb
retaining wire into position by
aligning the wire with the groove
on the bulb.
7. Connect the Low Beam Assist- Static Light bulb socket connector.
8. Install the Low Beam Assist-Static Light bulb cover by turning it clock-
wise.
Parking (Position) light1. Remove the socket from theassembly by pulling it straight out.
2. Remove the bulb from the socket by pulling it out.
3. Insert a new bulb by inserting it into the socket.
4. Install the socket in the assembly by pushing it in.
