o Front airbags are not intended to
deploy in side-impact, rear-impact or rollover crashes. In addition,airbags will not normally deploy in frontal crashes below the de- ployment threshold speed.
o For maximum safety protection in all types of crashes, all occupantsincluding the driver should alwayswear their seat belts whether or not an airbag is also provided at their seating position to minimizethe risk of severe injury or death in the event of a crash. Do not sit or lean unnecessarily close to theairbag whilst the vehicle is in motion.

Rear impact
Side Impact Rollover o The SRS airbag system must de-
ploy very rapidly to provide pro- tection in a crash. If an occupant is out of position because of notwearing a seat belt, the airbag may forcefully contact the occupant causing serious or fatal injuries. B240B03A-DAT SRS Components and Functions The SRS consists of the following com- ponents:
- Driver's Airbag Module
- Passenger's Airbag Module
- SRS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
- SRS Control Module (SRSCM) The SRSCM continually monitors all elements whilst the ignition is "ON" to determine if a frontal or near-frontalimpact is severe enough to require airbag deployment.

The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) on the instrument panel will blinkfor approximately 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" posi- tion or after the engine is started, afterwhich the SRI should go out. The airbag modules are located both in the centre of the steering wheel and in the front passenger's panel above the glove box. When the SRSCM detects a considerable impact to the front of the vehicle, it will automatically deploy the airbags. Upon deployment, tear seams molded directly into the pad covers will sepa- rate under pressure from the expansion of the airbags. Further opening of thecovers then allows full inflation of the airbags. A fully inflated airbag in combination with a properly worn seat belt slows the driver's or the passenger's forward mo- tion, thus reducing the risk of head or chest injury. After complete inflation, the airbag im- mediately starts deflating, enabling thedriver to maintain forward visibility.

CAUTION:
Do not install or place any accesso- ries (drink holder, cassette holder, sticker, etc) on the front passenger's panel above the glove box in a ve-hicle with passenger's side air bag. Such objects may become danger- ous projectiles and cause injury ifthe passenger's side air bag inflates.

B240C03Y-EAT SRS Care The SRS is virtually maintenance-free and there are no parts you can safely service by yourself. The entire SRSsystem must be inspected by an Hyundai authorised repairer in 10 years after the date that the vehicle wasmanufactured. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or any work on the steering wheel must be performed by a qualified Hyundai tech-nician. Improper handling of the SRS system may result in serious personal injury.

o Extreme Hazard! Do not use a rear- ward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an airbag in front of it!If you must use a rear facing child seat on the front seat, first deacti- vate the air bag system and ensurethat the passenger's front air bag 'off' indicator light in the instru- ment cluster is displayed.
o Do not install a child restraint sys- tem in the front passenger seatposition.A child restraint system must
never be placed in the front seat. The infant or child could be se-verely injured by an airbag de- ployment in case of an accident.
o Modification to SRS components or wiring, including the additionof any kind of badges to the pad covers or modifications to the bodystructure, can adversely affect SRS performance and lead to possible injury.
o Do not place any objects (an um-
brella, bag, etc.) between the frontdoor and the front seat. Such ob-jects may become dangerous pro- jectiles and cause injury if the supplemental side impact air baginflates.
o To prevent unexpected deploy-
ment of the side impact air bagthat may result in personal injury, avoid impact to the side airbag sensor when the ignition key ison.

SB210C1-ESRS (Airbag) Service Reminder Indicator Light
The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) comes on and flashes for approxi-mately 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after the engine is started, after which it willgo out. This light also comes on when the SRS is not working properly. If the SRI does not come on, or continu- ously remains on after flashing for about6 seconds when you turned the ignition key to the "ON" position or started the engine, or if it comes on whilst driving,have the SRS inspected by an Hyundai authorised repairer.
B260U01TB-EAT Immobiliser Indicator Light
This indicator light comes on for some seconds after the ignition key is turnedto the "ON" position. At this time, you can start the engine. The light goes out after the engine is running. In case thislight goes out before you start the en- gine, you must turn to the "LOCK" position and restart the engine. In casethis light blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" posi- tion, this indicates that the immobilisersystem is out of order.
SB210G1-E Turn Signal Indicator Light
Operation of a turn signal is indicated by the warning light located in the in-strument cluster. If the light fails to illuminate or does not flash, a malfunc- tion within the turn signal system isindicated.
B260C02E-EATTraction Control Indicator Light(Not all models)
The traction control indicator changes operation according to the ignition switch position and whether or not the system is in operation.
B265C01LZ-EAT Electronic Stability Program Indicator Lights(Not all models)
The electronic stability program indica- tors change operation according to theignition switch position and whether the system is in operation or not. They will illuminate when the ignitionkey is turned to the "ON" position, but should go out after three seconds. If the ESP or ESP-OFF indicator stays on,take your car to your Hyundai authorised repairer and have the system checked. See section 2 for more informationabout the ESP.
It will also illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, andthen go off in a few seconds. If the TCS indicator stays on, take your car to your Hyundai authorised repairer and havethe system checked. See section 2 for more information about the TCS sys- tem.

Under normal circumstances, the light will illuminate when the ignition is turned"on" and will be extinguished when the engine is started. If the oil pressure warning light illumi-nates whilst the engine is running, stop the engine immediately and check the engine oil level. If the level is insuffi-cient, add the required amount of oil as indicated by the engine oil dipstick. If the light fails to extinguish when theengine is restarted, do not continue to operate the vehicle. If the oil pressure light illuminates dur-ing normal operation and the cause is not an insufficient oil level, or the light fails to illuminate when the ignition isturned "on", contact the nearest Hyundai authorised repairer before further oper- ating the vehicle. Malfunction Indicator
Light
This light illuminates when there is amalfunction of an exhaust gas relatedcomponent, and the system is not func- tioning properly so that the exhaust gas regulation values are not satisfied. Thislight will illuminate when the ignition key is tuned to the "ON" position, and then it will go out after the engine start. If itilluminates whilst driving, or does not illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, take your car toyour nearest Hyundai authorised re- pairer and have the system checked.

B260P02Y-EAT ABS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)(Not all models)
When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the Anti-Lock Brake System SRI will come on and then go off in a approximately seconds. If the ABS SRI remains on, comes on whilst driving, or does not come on when the key is turned to the "ON" position, this indi- cates that there may be a problem with the ABS. If this occurs, have your vehicle checked by your Hyundai authorised repairer as soon as possible. The nor- mal braking system will still be opera- tional, but without the assistance of the anti-lock brake system.
CAUTION:
If the both ABS SRI and Parking Brake/Brake fluid level warning lights re- main "ON" or come on whilst driving,there may be a problem with E.B.D.
(Electronic Brake Force Distribution). If this occurs, avoid sudden stopsand have your vehicle checked by your Hyundai authorised repairer as soon as possible.

C055B01B-GAT STARTING AND STOPPING THE ENGINE FOR TURBOCHARGER INTERCOOLER(DIESEL ENGINE)
(1) Do not race the engine or suddenly
accelerate the engine immediately after starting it. If the engine is cold,allow the engine to idle for several seconds before it is driven to ensure sufficient lubrication of the turbocharger unit.
(2) After high speed or extended driv-
ing, requiring a heavy engine load,the engine should be allowed to idle about 1 minute before turning it off. This idle time will allow the turbocharger to cool prior to shutting the engine off.
WARNING:
Do not turn the engine off immedi- ately after it has been subjected to a heavy load. Doing so may cause severe damage to the engine or turbocharger unit. SC060B1-E FUEL ECONOMY The following suggestions are made to assist in achieving the greatest degreeof fuel economy.
o Maintaining a constant check on fuel
consumption will enable the most economical use pattern and driving style to be adopted.
o Avoid using the vehicle for very short journeys if possible, particularly whena cold start is involved.
o Ensure that tyre pressures are main- tained at the correct level.
o Use only the recommended grade of fuel.
o Avoid carrying unnecessary weight,
and if a roof rack is in use, remove itas soon as possible after use.
o Anticipate the road and conditions
ahead to enable adjustments in speedto be made smoothly. Avoid heavy acceleration and sharp braking.
o Avoid cruising at unnecessary high speeds. o Always ensure that the periodic main-
tenance services are performed by a Hyundai authorised repairer at the time and/or mileage intervals speci- fied.
o Use the air conditioning only when necessary.

o Keep your car in good condition. For
better fuel economy and reduced maintenance costs, maintain your car in accordance with the mainte- nance schedule in Section 5. If youdrive your car in severe conditions, more frequent maintenance is re- quired (see Section 5 for details).
o Keep your car clean. For maximum service, your car should be keptclean and free of corrosive materi-als. It is especially important that mud, dirt, ice, etc. not be allowed to accumulate on the underside of thecar. This extra weight can result in increased fuel consumption and also contribute to corrosion.
o Travel lightly. Don't carry unneces- sary weight in your car. Weight is anenemy of good fuel economy.
o Don't let the engine idle longer than necessary. If you are waiting (andnot in traffic), turn off your engine andrestart only when you're ready to go.
SC150A1-F You can save fuel and get more miles from your car if you follow these sug-gestions:
o Drive smoothly. Accelerate at a
moderate rate. Don't make "jack- rabbit" starts or full-throttle shifts and maintain a steady cruising speed. Don't race between stoplights. Try toadjust your speed to that of the other traffic so you don't have to change speeds unnecessarily.Avoid heavy traffic whenever pos- sible. Always maintain a safe dis- tance from other vehicles so you canavoid unnecessary braking. This also reduces brake wear.
o Drive at a moderate speed. The faster you drive, the more fuel your caruses. Driving at a moderate speed, especially on the highway, is one ofthe most effective ways to reduce fuel consumption.
DRIVING FOR ECONOMY
o Don't "ride" the brake or clutch pedal.This can increase fuel consumption and also increase wear on these components. In addition, driving with your foot resting on the brake pedalmay cause the brakes to overheat, which reduces their effectiveness and may lead to more serious con-
sequences.
o Take care of your tyres. Keep them
inflated to the recommended pres-sure. Incorrect infla-tion, either too much or too little, results in unneces- sary tyre wear. Check the tyre pres-sures at least once a month.
o Be sure that the wheels are aligned
correctly. Improper alignment canresult from hitting curbs or driving too fast over irregular surfaces. Poor alignment causes faster tyre wearand may also result in other prob- lems as well as greater fuel con- sumption.

Fit the wheel nuts onto the studs and tighten with the wheel brace. Lower the car to the ground turning the wheel nut wrench counterclockwise. When the vehicle is firmly on the ground,remove the jack and tighten the wheel nuts securely. At the first available opportunity, the wheel nut torque shouldbe checked with a suitable torque wrench.
