How to use the Smart Tailgate
The hands-free smart tailgate sys- tem can be opened automatically
when the following conditions aremet:
The Smart Tailgate option isenabled in the User Settings in the
AVN screen.
The Smart Tailgate is activated and ready 15 seconds after all the
doors are closed and locked
The Smart Tailgate will open when the smart key is detected in the
area behind the vehicle for 3 sec-onds Information
The Smart Tailgate will NOT operate
when:
 Any door is open, or all doors are closed but not locked
 The smart key is detected within 15 seconds from when the doors were
closed and locked
 For vehicles equipped with illumi- nated exterior front door handles, if
the smart key is detected within 15
seconds from when the doors were
closed and locked or if the smart key
is within 1.5 m (60 inches) from the
front door handles
 The smart key is in the vehicle. 1. Setting
To activate the Smart Tailgate, go to
"Vehicle settings
Door/Liftgate"
and select Smart Liftgate on the AVNscreen.
For more details refer to the sepa-
rately supplied Navigation manu-al.
2.Detect and Alert
The Smart Tailgate detecting area
extends approximately 50-100 cm
(20-40 in) behind the vehicle. If youare positioned in the detecting area
and are carrying the smart key, the
hazard warning lights will blink and
the chime will sound to alert you that
the smart tailgate will open.
Information
Do not approach the detecting area if
you do not want the tailgate to open. If
you have unintentionally entered the
detecting area and the hazard warn-
ing lights and chime starts to operate,
move away from the area behind the
vehicle with the smart key. The tail-
gate will remain closed.

3. Automatic opening
After the hazard warning lights blink
and the chime sounds 6 times, the
power tailgate will open.How to deactivate the SmartTailgate function using the
smart key
1. Door lock
2. Door unlock
3. Tailgate open
4. Panic
If you press any button on the smart
key during the Detect and Alert
stage, the Smart Tailgate function
will be deactivated.
Make sure to be aware of how to
deactivate the Smart Tailgate func-
tion for emergency situations.
Make certain that you close
the tailgate before driving
your vehicle.
Make sure there are no people
or objects around the tailgate
before opening or closing the
tailgate.
Make sure objects in the rear
cargo area do not come out
when opening the tailgate,
especially if the vehicle is
parked on a grade or incline.
If you keep your vehicle
parked and locked on your
driveway, you may want to
temporarily deactivate the
Smart Tailgate system.
Otherwise, standing at the
rear of the vehicle with the
smart key may cause the tail-
gate to open unintentionally.
WARNING
The key should be kept out of
reach of children. Children
may inadvertently open the
Smart Tailgate while playing
around the rear area of the
vehicle.

Information
 If you press the door unlock button (2), the Smart Tailgate function will
be deactivated temporarily. But, if
you do not open any door for 30 sec-
onds, the Smart Tailgate function
will be activated again.
 If you press the tailgate open button (3) for more than 1 second, the tail-
gate opens.
 The Smart Tailgate function will still be activated if you press the
door lock button (1) or tailgate open
button (3) on the smart key as long
as the Smart Tailgate is not already
in the Detect and Alert stage.
 In case you have deactivated the Smart Tailgate function by pressing
the smart key button and opened a
door, the Smart Tailgate function
can be activated again by closing
and locking all doors.Detecting area
The Smart Tailgate detecting areaextends approximately 50-100 cm
(20-40 in) behind the vehicle. If youare positioned in the detecting
area and are carrying the smart
key, the hazard warning lights will
blink and the chime will sound for
about 3 seconds to alert you that
the smart tailgate will open.
The alert stops once the smart key is moved outside of the detecting
area within the 3 second period. Information
 The Smart Tailgate function may not operate properly if any of the
following instances occur:
- The smart key is close to a radiotransmitter such as a radio station
or an airport which can interfere
with normal operation of the
transmitter.
- The smart key is near a mobile two way radio system or a cellular
phone.
- Another vehicle's smart key is being operated close to your vehi-
cle.
 The Smart Tailgate detecting area may change when:
- The vehicle is parked on an inclineor slope
- One side of the vehicle is raised or lowered relative to the opposite
side

Anti-lock Brake System(ABS) Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a malfunction with the ABS (The normal braking sys-
tem will still be operational without
the assistance of the anti-lock
brake system).
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
Electronic
Brake Force
Distribution (EBD) System Warning Light
These two warning lights illuminate
at the same time while driving:
When the ABS and regular brake sys-
tem may not work normally.
In this case, have your vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Information
- Electronic
Brake Force Distribution
(EBD) System Warning Light
When the ABS Warning Light is on or
both ABS and Parking Brake & Brake
Fluid Warning Lights are on, the
speedometer, odometer, or tripmeter
may not work. Also, the EPS Warning
Light may illuminate and the steering
effort may increase or decrease.
In this case, have your vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Distribution (EBD) System
Warning Light
When both ABS and Parking
Brake & Brake Fluid Warning
Lights are on, the brake system
will not work normally and you
may experience an unexpected
and dangerous situation during
sudden braking.
In this case, avoid high speed driving and abrupt braking.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.

Forward CollisionAvoidance Assist (FCA)
system warning light (if equipped)
This warning light illuminates :
ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When the FCA system is turned off.
When the radar sensor or cover is blocked with dirt or snow. Check
the sensor and cover and clean
them by using a soft cloth.
When there is a malfunction with FCA. In this case, have your vehi-
cle inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Lane Keeping Assist
(LKA) system indicator
light (if equipped)
This indicator light illuminates:
[Green] When the system operat- ing conditions are satisfied for LKA.
[White] When system operating conditions are not satisfied orwhen the sensor does not detect
the lane line.
[Yellow] When there is a malfunc- tion with the Lane Keeping Assist(LKA) system.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
For more details, refer to "Lane
Keeping Assist (LKA) system" in
chapter 5.
LED Headlamp Warning Light (if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a malfunction with the LED headlamp.
In this case, have the vehicle inspect-
ed by an an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
This warning light blinks:
When there is a malfunction with a
LED headlamp related part.
In this case, have the vehicle
inspected by an an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Continuous driving with the LED
Headlamp Warning Light on or
blinking can reduce LED head-
lamp life.

Master Warning Light
This indicator light illuminates:
When there is a malfunction in oper-
ation in any of the following systems:
- LED headlamp malfunction (ifequipped)
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system malfunction (if equipped)
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist radar blocked (if equipped)
- Blind-Spot Collision Warning system malfunction (if equipped)
- Blind-Spot Collision Warning radar blocked (if equipped)
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go malfunction (if equipped)
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go radar blocked (if equipped)
- Lamp malfunction
- High Beam Assist malfunction (if equipped)
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) malfunction
To identify the details of the warning,
look at the LCD display.
Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) Indicator
Light
This indicator light illuminates:
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a malfunction with the ESC system.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
This indicator light blinks:
While the ESC is operating.
For more details, refer to
"Electronic Stability Control (ESC)"
in chapter 5.
Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) OFF
Indicator Light
This indicator light illuminates:
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When you deactivate the ESC sys- tem by pressing the ESC OFF but- ton.

"Electronic Stability Control (ESC)"
in chapter 5.

LCD Display Messages
Shift to P
This warning message is displayed if
you try to turn off the vehicle with the
gear in the N (Neutral) position.
At this time, the POWER button
changes to the ACC position (If you
press the POWER button once more,
it will turn to the ON position).
Low Key Battery
This warning message is displayed if
the battery of the smart key is dis-
charged while changing the POWER
button to the OFF position.
Press POWER button whileturning wheel
This warning message is displayed if
the steering wheel does not unlock
normally when the POWER button ispressed.
You should press the POWER button
while turning the steering wheel rightand left.
Check Steering Wheel LockSystem
This warning message is displayed if
the steering wheel does not lock nor-
mally while the POWER buttonchanges to the OFF position.
Press brake pedal to start vehicle
This warning message is displayed if
the POWER button changes to the
ACC position twice by pressing the
button repeatedly without depressing
the brake pedal.
You can start the vehicle by depress-
ing the brake pedal.
Key not in vehicle
This warning message is displayed if
the smart key is not in the vehicle
when you press the POWER button.
When attempting to start the vehicle,
always have the smart key with you.

One-touch turn signal function
To activate the One Touch Turn
Signal function, push the turn signal
lever up or down to position (B) andthen release it.
The lane change signals will blink 3,
5 or 7 times.
You can activate or deactivate the
One Touch Turn Signal function or
choose the number of blinks (3, 5, or
7) from the Vehicle Settings mode in
the AVN screen.
For more details, refer to the sepa-
rately supplied Navigation manual.
Battery saver function
The purpose of this feature is to pre-
vent the battery from being dis-
charged. The system automatically
turns off the parking lamp when the
driver turns the vehicle off and opens
the driver-side door.
With this feature, the parking lamps
will turn off automatically if the driver
parks on the side of road at night.
If necessary, to keep the lamps on
when the vehicle is turned off, perform
the following:
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the parking lamps OFF andON again using the headlamp
switch on the steering column.
Headlight time-out function
(if equipped)
If the POWER button is placed in the
ACC position or the OFF positionwith the headlamps ON, the head-
lamps (and/or parking lamps) remain
on for about 5 minutes. However, if
the driver's door is opened and
closed, the headlights are turned off
after 15 seconds. Also, with the vehi-
cle off if the driver's door is openedand closed, the headlamps (and/or
parking lamps) are turned off after 15
seconds.
The headlamps (and/or parking
lamps) can be turned off by pressing
the lock button on the smart key
twice or turning the light switch to the
OFF or AUTO position.
You can activate or deactivate the
Headlamp Delay function from the
Vehicle Settings mode (Light) on the
AVN screen.

If the driver gets out of the vehicle
through other doors (except dri-
ver’s door), the battery saver func-tion does not operate and the
headlamp delay function does not
turn off automatically. Therefore, It
causes the battery to be dis-
charged. In this case, make sure
to turn off the lamp before getting
out of the vehicle.
Interior Lights
Do not use the interior lights for
extended periods when the vehi-
cle is turned off or the battery will
discharge.
Interior lamp AUTO cut
The interior lamps will automatically
go off approximately 20 minutes after
the vehicle is turned off and the
doors are closed. If a door is opened,
the lamp will go off 40 minutes after
the vehicle is turned off. If the doors
are locked by the remote key or
smart key and the vehicle enters the
armed stage of the theft alarm sys-
tem, the lamps will go off five sec-
onds later.
Front lamps
Front Map Lamp (1) :
Press either lenses (Type A) or
switches ( , Type B) to turn
the map lamp on or off. This light pro-
duces a spot beam for convenientuse as a map lamp at night or as a
personal lamp for the driver and the
front passenger.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Do not use the interior lights
when driving in the dark. The
interior lights may obscure your
view and cause an accident.

Front Room Lamp (2) ( ) :
Press the button to turn the front and
rear room lamps on or off.
Front Door Lamp (3) ( ) :
The front or rear room lamps come on when the front or rear doors are
opened. When doors are unlocked by
the smart key, the front and rear
lamps come on for approximately 30
seconds as long as any door is not
opened. The front and rear room
lamps go out gradually after approxi-mately 30 seconds if the door is
closed. However, if the POWER but-ton is in the ON position or all doors
are locked, the front and rear lamps
will turn off. If a door is opened with
the POWER button in the ACC posi-tion or the OFF position, the front
and rear lamps stay on for about 20
minutes.
Rear lamp
Rear Room Lamp ( ):
Press this switch to turn the rear
room lamp on and off.
Luggage compartment lamp
The luggage compartment lampcomes on when the tailgate is opened.
If the tailgate is continuously opened,
the luggage compartment lamp will
turn off after 20 minutes.
