Convenient features of your vehicle
When washing the vehicle, setthe wiper switch in the OFF posi- tion to stop the auto wiper oper-
ation. The wiper may operate
and be damaged if the switch is
set in the AUTO mode while
washing the vehicle.
Do not remove the sensor cover. Damage to system parts could
occur and may not be covered
by your vehicle warranty.
Because of using a photo sen- sor, temporary malfunction
could occur according to sud-
den ambient light change whiledriving.
Front Windshield Washers
In the OFF position, pull the lever
gently toward you to spray washer
fluid on the windshield and to run the
wipers 1-3 cycles. The spray and
wiper operation will continue until
you release the lever. If the washer
does not work, you may need to add
washer fluid to the washer fluid
reservoir.
NOTICE

When the outside temperature
is below freezing, ALWAYSwarm the windshield using the
defroster to help prevent the
washer fluid from freezing onthe windshield and obscuring
your vision which could resultin an accident and serious
injury or death.

To prevent possible damage tothe washer pump, do not oper- ate the washer when the fluid
reservoir is empty.
To prevent possible damage to the wipers or windshield, do not
operate the wipers when the
windshield is dry.
To prevent damage to the wiper arms and other components, do
not attempt to move the wipers
manually.
To prevent possible damage to the wipers and washer system,use anti-freezing washer fluidsin the winter season or cold
weather.
Rear Window Wiper and Washer
The rear window wiper and washer
switch is located at the end of the
wiper and washer switch lever. Turn
the switch to the desired position to
operate the rear wiper and washer. HI – High wiper speed
LO – Low wiper speed OFF – Off Push the lever away from you to
spray rear washer fluid and to run the
rear wipers 1~3 cycles. The spray
and wiper operation will continue
until you release the lever.
Auto rear wiper
The rear wiper will operate while the
vehicle is in reverse with the front
wiper ON by selecting the function on
the AVN screen.

Owner Maintenance Schedule
When you stop for fuel:
• Check for both fuel cell stack andDevice cooling coolant level in
coolant reservoir.
Check the windshield washer fluid level.
Look for low or under-inflated tires.
While operating your vehicle:
Check for vibrations in the steering wheel. Notice if there is any
increased steering effort or loose-
ness in the steering wheel, or
change in its straight-ahead posi-tion.
Notice if your vehicle constantly turns slightly or "pulls" to one side
when traveling on smooth, levelroad.
When stopping, listen and check for unusual sounds, pulling to one
side, increased brake pedal travel
or "hard-to-push" brake pedal.
If any slipping or changes in the operation of your reduction gear
occurs, check the reduction gear
fluid level.
Check the reduction gear P (Park) function.
Check the parking brake.
Check for fluid leaks under your vehicle (water dripping from the air
conditioning system during or after
use is normal).
At least monthly:
Check coolant level in the coolantreservoir.
Check the operation of all exterior lights, including the brake lights,
turn signals and hazard warning
flashers.
Check the inflation pressures of all tires that are worn, show uneven
wear, or are damaged.
Check for loose wheel lug nuts.
At least twice a year: (i.e., every Spring and Fall)
Check radiator, heater and air con- ditioning hoses for leaks or dam-
age.
Check windshield washer spray and wiper operation. Clean wiper
blades with clean cloth dampened
with washer fluid.
Check headlamp alignment.
Check the seat belts for wear and function.
Be careful when checking the
coolant level when the fuel cell
power module is hot. Scalding
hot coolant and steam may
blow out under pressure. This
could cause burns or other seri-
ous injury.

MaintenanceThe electric motor for the cooling fan
is controlled by coolant temperature,
refrigerant pressure and vehicle
speed. As the coolant temperature
decreases, the electric motor will
automatically shut off. This is a nor-mal condition.
Changing Coolant
Have coolant changed by an author-
ized HYUNDAI dealer according tothe Maintenance Schedule at the
beginning of this chapter.To prevent damage to parts in the
fuel cell power module compart-
ment, put a thick towel around the
coolant cap before refilling the
coolant to prevent the coolant
from overflowing into parts in the
fuel cell power module compart-ment.
NOTICE
The electric motor for
the cooling fan may
continue to operate
or start up when the
vehicle is not running
and can cause serious injury.
Keep hands, clothing and tools
away from the rotating fan
blades of the cooling fan.
WARNING
Do not use coolant or antifreeze
in the washer fluid reservoir.
Coolant can severely obscure
visibility when sprayed on the
windshield and may cause loss
of vehicle control resulting in anaccident.
Coolant may also cause dam-
age to paint and body trim.
WARNING

The electric motor for the cooling fan
is controlled by coolant temperature,
refrigerant pressure and vehicle
speed. As the coolant temperature
decreases, the electric motor will

Changing Coolant
For the fuel cell stack, an exclusive
coolant must be used . When chang-
ing the fuel cell stack coolant, werecommend that coolant be changed
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealeraccording to the MaintenanceSchedule at the beginning of this
chapter.To prevent damage to parts in the
fuel cell power module compart-
ment, put a thick towel around the
coolant cap before refilling the
coolant to prevent the coolant
from overflowing into parts in the
fuel cell power module compart-ment.

Checking the Washer Fluid
Level
Check the fluid level in the washer
fluid reservoir and add fluid if neces-
sary. Plain water may be used if
washer fluid is not available.
However, use washer solvent with
antifreeze characteristics in cold cli-
mates to prevent freezing.
Filter Replacement
Faulty air cleaner filter has a direct
influence on reduction of the stack
output, etc. Replace the filter accord-
ing to the maintenance schedule.

Do not use coolant or

reservoir.
Coolant can severely obscure

windshield and may cause

Do not allow sparks or flame to contact the washer fluid or
the washer fluid reservoir.
Washer fluid may containalcohol and can be flamma-
ble.
Do not drink washer fluid and
avoid contact with skin.
Washer fluid is harmful tohumans and animals.
Keep washer fluid away from
children and animals.

Blade Inspection
Contamination of either the wind-
shield or the wiper blades with for-
eign matter can reduce the effective-ness of the windshield wiper func-
tionality. Common sources of con-
tamination are insects, tree sap, and
hot wax treatments used by some
commercial car washes. If the blades
are not wiping properly, clean both
the window and the blades with a
clean cloth dampened with washerfluid.
To prevent damage to the wiper
blades, arms or other compo-
nents, do not:
Use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other solvents on or near them.
Attempt to move the wipers manually.
Use non-specified wiper blades. Information
Commercial hot waxes applied by
automatic car washes have been
known to make the windshield diffi-
cult to clean.
Blade Replacement
When the wipers no longer clean
adequately, the blades may be worn
or cracked, and require replacement.
To prevent damage to the wiper
arms or other components, do not
attempt to move the wipers manu-
ally. The use of a non-specified wiper
blade could result in wiper mal-
function and failure.
Front windshield wiper service positions
This vehicle has a "hidden" wiperdesign which means that the wipers
cannot be lifted when they are intheir bottom resting position.
1. Within 20 seconds of turning off the vehicle, lift and hold the wiper
lever up to the MIST position forabout 2 seconds until the wipers
move to the top wipe position.
2. At this time you can lift the wipers off the windshield.
3. Gently put the wipers back down onto the windshield.
4. Turn the wipers to any ON position to return the wipers to the bottomresting position.
