Convenient features of your vehicle
1. Activate Parking Assist system• Press the Parking Assist system
button (the button indicator will illu-
minate).
• The Parking Distance Warning
system will be activated (the button
indicator will illuminate).
A warning sound will be heard if an
obstacle is detected.
• Press the Parking Assist system
button again for more than 2 sec-
onds to turn off the system.
• The Parking Assist system defaults
to the OFF position whenever the
ignition switch is turned on.
2. Select Exit Mode
• Select the mode by pressing the
Parking Assist system button.
With manual transmission
The shift lever should be placed in
N (Neutral) and the brake pedal
depressed.
With automatic transmission
The shift lever should be placed in
P (Park) and the brake pedal
depressed.
• The left side parallel mode is
selected automatically when the
Parking Assist system is activated.
• To select the right side parallel
mode press the Parking Assist sys-
tem button once more.
• If the button is pressed again, the
system will turn off.3

• The above message will appear if
the shift lever is in D (Drive), R
(Reverse) or N (Neutral, manual
transmission only) according to the
distance of the front and rear
object from the sensor.
The steering wheel will be con-
trolled automatically.
• The system will be cancelled if you
firmly hold the steering wheel
whilst it is controlled automatically.
• The system will be cancelled if vehi-
cle speed is over 4.3 mph (7 km/h).To cancel the system whilst exit-
ing
Press the Parking Assist system but-
ton or Parking Distance Warning sys-
tem button whilst the steering wheel
is controlled.
Always drive slowly with the brake
pedal applied.
5. Exiting Complete
When assisting the driver exit the
parking space is completed the
above message will appear.
Turn the steering wheel to the direc-
tion you are leaving and manually
control the steering wheel whilst
leaving the parking space.
• When leaving the parking space
turn the steering wheel as much
as you can to the direction you
are leaving, and then drive the
vehicle slowly by depressing the
brake pedal.

IGNITION SWITCH
Key ignition switch (if equipped)
Whenever the front door is opened,
the ignition switch will illuminate, pro-
vided the ignition switch is not in the
ON position. The light will go off
immediately when the ignition switch
is turned on or go off after about 30
seconds when the door is closed
(if equipped).
Never use aftermarket keyhole cov-
ers. This may generate start-up fail-
ure due to communication failure.
NOTICE
•NEVER turn the ignition
switch to the LOCK or ACC
position whilst the vehicle is
in motion except in an emer-
gency.
This will result in the engine
turning off and loss of power
assist for the steering and
brake systems. This may lead
to loss of directional control
and braking function, which
could cause an accident.
•Before leaving the driver's
seat, always make sure the
shift lever is in 1st gear (for
manual transmission vehicle)
or P (Park, for automatic
transmission vehicle) posi-
tion, apply the parking brake,
and turn the ignition switch to
the LOCK position.
Unexpected vehicle move-
ment may occur if these pre-
cautions are not followed.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS
INJURY or DEATH, take the fol-
lowing precautions:
•NEVER allow children or any
person who is unfamiliar with
the vehicle to touch the igni-
tion switch or related parts.
Unexpected and sudden vehi-
cle movement can occur.
•NEVER reach through the
steering wheel for the ignition
switch, or any other control,
whilst the vehicle is in motion.
The presence of your hand or
arm in this area may cause a
loss of vehicle control result-
ing in an accident.

Starting the engine Starting the petrol engine
Vehicle with manual transmission:
1. Make sure the parking brake is
applied.
2. Make sure the shift lever is in neu-
tral.
3. Depress the clutch and brake ped-
als.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the
START position. Hold the key
(maximum of 10 seconds) until the
engine starts and release it.
Vehicle with automatic transmission:
1. Make sure the parking brake is
applied.
2. Make sure the shift lever is in P
(Park).
3. Depress the brake pedal.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the
START position. Hold the key
(maximum of 10 seconds) until the
engine starts and release it.Information
• Do not wait for the engine to warm
up whilst the vehicle remains sta-
tionary.
Start driving at moderate engine
speeds. (Steep accelerating and
decelerating should be avoided.)
• Always start the vehicle with your
foot on the brake pedal. Do not
depress the accelerator whilst start-
ing the vehicle. Do not race the
engine whilst warming it up.

•Always wear appropriate
shoes when operating your
vehicle. Unsuitable shoes,
such as high heels, ski boots,
sandals, flip-flops, etc., may
interfere with your ability to
use the brake, accelerator and
clutch pedals.
•Do not start the vehicle with the
accelerator pedal depressed.
The vehicle can move which
can lead to an accident.
•Wait until the engine rpm is
normal. The vehicle may sud-
denly move if the brake pedal
is released when the rpm is
high.

To prevent damage to the vehicle:
• Do not hold the ignition key in
the START position for more
than 10 seconds. Wait 5 to 10
seconds before trying again.
• Do not turn the ignition switch to
the START position with the
engine running. It may damage
the starter.
• If traffic and road conditions
permit, you may put the shift
lever in the N (Neutral) position
whilst the vehicle is still moving
and turn the ignition switch to
the START position in an
attempt to restart the engine.
• Do not push or tow your vehicle
to start the engine.
Starting the diesel engine
To start the diesel engine when the
engine is cold, it has to be pre-heat-
ed before starting the engine and
then have to be warmed up before
starting to drive.
Vehicle with manual transmission:
1. Make sure the parking brake is
applied.
2. Make sure the shift lever is in neu-
tral.
3. Depress the clutch and brake ped-
als.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position to pre-heat the engine.
The glow indicator light ( ) will
illuminate.
5. When the glow indicator light ( )
goes out, turn the key ignition
switch to the START position. Hold
the key (maximum of 10 seconds)
until the engine starts and release
it.Vehicle with automatic transmission:
1. Make sure the parking brake is
applied.
2. Make sure the shift lever is in P
(Park).
3. Depress the brake pedal.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position to pre-heat the engine.
The glow indicator light ( ) will
illuminate.
5. When the glow indicator light ( )
goes out, turn the key ignition
switch to the START position. Hold
the key (maximum of 10 seconds)
until the engine starts and release
it.
If the engine does not start within
10 seconds after preheating is
completed, turn the ignition
switch once more to the LOCK
position and wait for 10 seconds.
Then turn the ignition switch to
the ON position in order to pre-
heat the engine again.

Engine Start/Stop button
(if equipped)
Whenever the front door is opened,
the Engine Start/Stop button will illu-
minate and will go off 30 seconds
after the door is closed.

To turn the engine off in an
emergency:
Press and hold the Engine
Start/Stop button for more than
two seconds OR Rapidly press
and release the Engine Start/
Stop button three times (within
three seconds).
If the vehicle is still moving, you
can restart the engine without
depressing the brake pedal by
pressing the Engine Start/Stop
button with the shift lever in the
N (Neutral) position.
WARNING
•NEVER press the Engine Start/
Stop button whilst the vehicle
is in motion except in an emer-
gency. This will result in the
engine turning off and loss of
power assist for the steering
and brake systems. This may
lead to loss of directional con-
trol and braking function,

Engine Stop/Start button positions

OFFTo turn off the engine, press the Engine
Start/Stop button with shift lever in P
(Park).
When you press the Engine Start/Stop
button without the shift lever in P (Park),
the Engine Start/Stop button does not turn
to the OFF position, but turns to the ACC
position.
The steering wheel locks to protect the
vehicle from theft (if equipped).If the steering wheel is not locked properly when
you open the driver's door, the warning chime will
sound.
ACCPress the Engine Start/Stop button when
the button is in the OFF position without
depressing the brake pedal.
Some electrical accessories are usable.
The steering wheel unlocks.If you leave the Engine Start/Stop button in the
ACC position for more than one hour, the battery
power will turn off automatically to prevent the bat-
tery from discharging.
If the steering wheel doesn't unlock properly, the
Engine Start/Stop button will not work. Press the
Engine Start/Stop button whilst turning the steering
wheel right and left to release tension.
