If you believe that your vehicle has a
defect which could cause a crash or
could cause injury or death, you should
immediately inform the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in
addition to notifying HYUNDAI MOTOR
AMERICA. If NHTSA receives similar
complaints, it may open an investigation,
and if it finds that a safety defect exists in
a group of vehicles, it may order a recall
and remedy campaign. However, NHTSA
cannot become involved in individual
problems between you, your dealer, or
HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA.

information about motor vehicle safety
from http://www.safercar.gov.Any claim or dispute you may have relat-
ed to your vehicle's warranty or the duties
contemplated under the warranty, includ-
ing claims related to the refund or partial
refund of your vehicle's purchase price
(excluding personal injury or product lia-
bility claims), shall be resolved by binding
arbitration. Binding arbitration shall be
administered by and through the American
Arbitration Association (AAA).
You will not be responsible for paying fil-
ing and hearing fees above $275.00. All
other arbitration costs shall be borne by
Hyundai Motor America. You are not
responsible to pay any of the costs
Hyundai incurs.
This Binding Arbitration Agreement shall
not deprive you of any remedies avail-
able to you under applicable law. The
parties are waiving their right to seek
remedies in court, including the right to a
jury trial.
This Binding Arbitration Agreement shall
be governed by and interpreted under
the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. sec-
tions 1-16. Judgment upon any award
may be entered in any court having juris-
diction.
You may revoke this Arbitration
Agreement by (1) written notice or (2)
electronic notice. Written notice must be
delivered (via certified mail) to Hyundai
Motor America, Attn: Consumer Affairs,
10550 Talbert Avenue, P.O. Box 20849,
Fountain Valley, CA 92728-0849.
Electronic notice must be submitted at
the following website address: http://war-
ranty-arbitration.hyundaiUSA.com.
Notice must be received within 90 days
after you purchase your vehicle.

Hyundai Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)
uses a gasoline engine and an electric
motor for power. The electric motor is
run from a 280V high voltage HEV bat-
tery.
HEV computer decides according to
drive condition when to use engine
from when to use the electric motor or
even both at times.
Fuel is saved when the engine is not
running at idle at times or the vehicle
is driven by the electric motor from
the HEV battery.
The charge of the HEV battery has to
be maintained so at times the engine
becomes a generator which includes
when stopped at idle. Charging also
occurs when decelerating or by
regenerative braking.Display of Hybrid system
Many displays provide information about
the hybrid system, such as, ECO level
and ECO score.
Through the ECO LEVEL, the driver under-
stands the situation of economical driving.
If the driver drives the vehicle with eco-
nomical driving, the ECO LEVEL rises.
And it means the CO2 emission reduction.
In TOTAL ECO SCORE, when you get the
maximum step of ECO LEVEL, ECO sys-
tem adds the score and saves the score.Eco level display flower mode.1
When the hybrid vehicle is started, the
ECO level step 4 is displayed. If you drive
economically, ECO level will be upgrad-
ed.
- However, if you do not drive economical-
ly, the ECO level will be down-graded.

In the “vehicle setting”, if you change the
animation mode to "ON", the dynamic
image will be activated.
- This provides the driver with thedynamic ECO mode. Total eco score display
If your ECO level achieves the top step,
your ECO score automatically saves 1
point.
In the “vehicle setting”, if you change the
animation mode to “ON”, the dynamic
image will be on.SOC Gauge (State of charge)
This State of Charge(SOC) gauge indi-
cates the left Hybrid battery power. If the
SOC is near L level, the vehicle automat-
ically operates the engine to charge the
battery. However, if the service indicator
and MIL(Malfunction indicator lamp) turn
on when the State of Charge(SOC) is
near L(Low), the vehicle should be
towed. Refer to the chapter 6.

Starting the engine
1. Carry the smart key or leave it insidethe vehicle.
2. Make sure the parking brake is firmly applied.
3. Place the shift lever in the P(Park) position. In N(Neutral) position, you
can not start the vehicle.
4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. Press the engine start/stop button.
6. In extremely cold weather or after the vehicle has not been operated for sev-
eral days, let the engine warm up with-
out depressing the accelerator.
Whether the engine is cold or warm, it
should be started without depressing
the accelerator.
if it is far away from you, the engine
may not start.
in the ACC or ON position, if any door
is open, the system checks for the
smart key. If the smart key is not in
the vehicle, the warning, "Key is not
in vehicle" will come on, and if all
doors are closed, the chime will also
sound for about 5 seconds. The indi-
cator will turn off while the vehicle is
moving. Keep the smart key in the
vehicle when using the ACC position
or if the vehicle engine is on. IF the starting procedure is followed,
the "READY" symbol on the instru-
ment cluster will turn on. For more
details, Please check chapter 5.
ECONOMICAL and SAFE OPERA-
TION of Hybrid system
Drive smoothly. Accelerate at a mod-
erate rate and maintain a steady cruis-
ing speed. Don't make "jack-rabbit"
starts. Don't race between stoplights.
Avoid heavy traffic whenever possible.
Always maintain a safe distance from
other vehicles so you can avoid unnec-
essary braking. This also reduces
brake wear.
The regenerative brake generates energy when the vehicle decelerates.
When the hybrid battery power is low, the hybrid system automatically
recharges the hybrid battery.
When the engine runs in "N" position, the hybrid system can not generate
electricity. The hybrid battery cannot
recharge in "N" position. Please check
chapter 5.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
In the hybrid system, the engine auto-
matically runs and stops. If the hybrid
system operates, the "READY" symbol
is illuminated.
In the following situation, the engine
may operate automatically.
- When the engine is ready to run
- When the hybrid battery is charged
- Depending on the temperature condi-
tion of the hybrid battery

WARNING
In the hybrid system, the hybrid
battery uses high voltage to oper-
ate the motor and other compo-
nents. This high voltage hybrid bat-
tery system can be very dangerous.
Never touch the hybrid system. If
you touch the hybrid battery sys-
tem, serious injury or death may
occur.
WARNING
The high voltage warning label is
attached to the components of high
voltage is orange. Never touch the
wires, cables and connectors as
possible. If not, serious injury or
death causes.
WARNING
When you replace the fuses, Be
careful the HPCU. Never touch the
HPCU. If not, it may result in HPCU
warning.

If you disassemble or assemble hybrid system components
improperly, it may damage the
performance and reliability of
your vehicle.
If electrolyte comes in contact with your body, clothes or eyes,
immediately flush with a large
quantity of fresh tap water. Have
your eyes examined by a doctor
as soon as possible.
WARNING
Never assemble or disassemble the
high voltage battery system.
If you assemble or disassemblethe high voltage battery system
arbitrarily, the durability and per-
formance of vehicle may be dam-
aged.
When you want to check the high voltage battery system, have the
vehicle checked and inspected by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Do not touch the high voltage battery and high voltage cable
connected to motor(orange
color). If not, severe burns and
electric shock may occur. For
your safety, do not touch the
cover of electronic components
and electronic cable. Do not
remove the cover of electronic
components and electronic cable
arbitrarily. In particular, Never
touch the high voltage battery
system when the hybrid system
operated. If not, it may result if
death or serious injury.

WARNING
Never use the package modules(high voltage battery, inverter,
converter) for any other purpose.
Do not use an after-market bat- tery charger to charge the high
voltage battery. Doing so may
result in death or serious injury.
Never put into a fire. Doing so may result in serious burns.
Never drill into, strike or other- wise damage the package mod-
ules. Doing so may result in seri-
ous injury or death.
CAUTION
When the vehicle is paint baked, do not pass 30 minutes in 158°F(70°C) or 20 minutes in 176°F(80°C) degree.
When you clean the engine com- partment, do not wash usingwater. Water may cause an elec-tric shock to occur and damageelectronic parts and components.
