Operating door locks from out-
side the vehicle
Turn the key toward the rear of thevehicle to unlock and toward the front
of the vehicle to lock.
If you lock the door with a key, all vehi- cle doors will lock automatically.
From the driver’s door, turn the key to the right once to unlock the driver’sdoor and once more within 4 seconds
to unlock all doors.
✽✽ NOTICE
You can change the system to unlock all
doors by turning the key to the right
once. If you want this feature (central
door unlock mode), perform the follow-
ing: Unlock mode conversion (two stage
unlock mode
↔
↔
central door unlock
mode)
The unlock mode is changed alternately
by pressing the lock button and unlock
button on the transmitter at the same
time for 4 seconds or more. The hazard
warning lights will blink four times to
indicate that the mode conversion is
completed.
Doors can also be locked and unlocked with the transmitter.
Once the doors are unlocked, they may be opened by pulling the door handle.
When closing the door, push the door by hand. Make sure that doors are closed
securely.
❈ If your vehicle is equipped with the
remote keyless entry system, there is no
key lock on the front passenger’s door.

NOTICE
 In cold and wet climates, door lock and door mechanisms may not work
properly due to freezing conditions.
 If the door is locked/unlocked multi- ple times in rapid succession with
either the vehicle key or door lock
switch, the system may stop operating
temporarily in order to protect the
circuit and prevent damage to system
components.
To lock a door without the key, push the
inside door lock button (1) or central
door lock switch (2 ) to the “Lock” posi-
tion and close the door (3).
If you lock the door with the central door lock switch (2), all vehicle doors
will lock automatically.
✽✽ NOTICE
Always remove the ignition key, firmly
engage the parking brake, close all win-
dows and lock all doors when leaving
your vehicle unattended.

Emergency tailgate safety release
Your vehicle is equipped with the emer-
gency tailgate safety release lever locat-
ed on the bottom of the tailgate. When
someone is inadvertently locked in the
luggage compartment, if the lever ispushed, the tailgate latch mechanism is
released and the tailgate is opened by
pushing rearward.
WARNING
For emergencies, be fully aware of the location of the emergency
tailgate safety release lever in
this vehicle and how to open the
tailgate if you are accidentally
locked in the luggage compart-ment.
No one should be allowed to occupy the luggage compartment
of the vehicle at any time. The
luggage compartment is a very
dangerous location in the event of a crash.
Use the release lever for emer- gencies only. Use extreme cau-
tion, especially while the vehicleis in motion.

Occupants should never ride in the
rear cargo area where no restraints
are available. To avoid injury in the
event of an accident or sudden
stops, occupants should always be
properly restrained.

Power window lock button
The driver can disable the power win-
dow switches on the passenger doors
by depressing the power window lock
switch located on the driver’s door to LOCK (pressed).
When the power window lock switch is ON, the driver’s master control
cannot operate the passenger door

To prevent possible damage to
the power window system, do notopen or close two windows or
more at the same time. This willalso ensure the longevity of thefuse.
Never try to operate the main switch on the driver's door andthe individual door windowswitch in opposing directions at
the same time. If this is done, thewindow will stop and cannot be opened or closed.WARNING - Windows
NEVER leave the ignition key in the vehicle.
NEVER leave any child unattend- ed in the vehicle. Even very
young children may inadvertently
cause the vehicle to move, entan-
gle themselves in the windows, or otherwise injure themselves or
others.
Always double check to make sure all arms, hands, head and
other obstructions are safely out
of the way before closing a win-
dow.
Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Keep the dri-
ver’s door power window lock
switch in the LOCK position
(depressed). Serious injury can
result from unintentional window
operation by the child.
Do not extend any head or arms outside through the windowopening while driving.

Opening the fuel filler door
The fuel filler door must be opened from
inside the vehicle by pulling up the fuel
filler door opener lever.
✽✽NOTICE
If the fuel filler door does not open
because ice has formed around it, tap
lightly or push on the door to break the
ice and release the door. Do not pry on
the door. If necessary, spray around the
door with an approved de-icer fluid (do
not use radiator anti-freeze) or move the
vehicle to a warm place and allow the ice
to melt.
1. Stop the engine.
2. To open the fuel filler door, pull the fuel filler door opener up.
3. Pull the fuel filler door (1) out to fully open.
4. To remove the cap, turn the fuel filler cap (2) counterclockwise.
5. Refuel as needed.
Closing the fuel filler door
1. To install the cap, turn it clockwise until it “clicks” one time. This indicates that the cap is securely tightened.
2. Close the fuel filler door and push it lightly making sure that it is securely closed.

WARNING - Refueling
If pressurized fuel sprays out, it
can cover your clothes or skin
and thus subject you to the risk
of fire and burns. Always remove
the fuel cap carefully and slowly.
If the cap is venting fuel or if you
hear a hissing sound, wait until
the condition stops before com-
pletely removing the cap.
Do not "top off" after the nozzle automatically shuts off whenrefueling.
Tighten the cap until it clicks one time, otherwise the Check Engine light will illuminate.
Always check that the fuel cap is installed securely to prevent fuel
spillage in the event of an acci- dent.

Sliding the sunroof
Before opening or closing the sunroof,
open the roller blind.
To open the sunroof (manual slide fea-
ture), pull the sunroof control lever back-
ward to the first detent position.
To close the sunroof (manual slide fea- ture), push or pull the sunroof control
lever with safety switch (1) forward or
downward to the first detent position.To open the sunroof automatically:
Pull the sunroof control lever backward to the second detent position and then
release it. The sunroof will slide open
automatically open all the way.
To stop the sunroof sliding at any point,
pull or push the sunroof control lever
momentarily.
To close the sunroof automatically:
Push the sunroof control lever forward to the second detent position and then
release it. The sunroof will automatically
close all the way.
To stop the sunroof sliding at any point,
pull or push the sunroof control lever
momentarily.

WARNING
Never adjust the sunroof or roller blind while driving. This could
result in loss of control and an
accident that may cause death,
serious injury, or property dam-
age.
HYUNDAI does not recommend installing a roof rack on a vehicle
with the panoramic sunroof.
All occupants of the vehicle must wear their seat belts at all times.
Seat belts and child restraints reduce serious or fatal injuries
for all occupants in the event of a
collision or sudden stop.
WARNING
Do not allow children operate the
sunroof. Closing a sunroof on
someone can cause serious injury,
and in some cases, even death.

Fuel gauge
The fuel gauge indicates the approxi- mate amount of fuel remaining in the fueltank.
The fuel tank capacity is given in sec-
tion 8.The fuel gauge is supplemented by
a low fuel warning light, which will illumi-
nate when the fuel tank is near empty.
On inclines or curves, the fuel gauge
pointer may fluctuate or the low fuel
warning light may come on earlier than
usual due to the movement of fuel in the tank. The bottom segment will flash as the fuel
level approaching empty.
Trip computer
The trip computer is a microcomputer-
controlled driver information system that
displays information related to driving,
including odometer, tripmeter, distance
to empty, average fuel consumption,
average speed, driving time and ECOON/OFF mode (if equipped) on the dis-
play when the ignition switch is in the ON
position. All stored driving information
(except odometer and distance to empty)
is reset if the battery is disconnected.
WARNING- Fuel gauge
Running out of fuel can expose
vehicle occupants to danger.
You must stop and obtain addition-
al fuel as soon as possible after the warning light comes on or when the
gauge indicator comes close to the
E level.
CAUTION
Avoid driving with a extremely low
fuel level. Running out of fuel couldcause the engine to misfire, damag- ing the catalytic converter.

The odometer is always displayed until
the display is turned off.
Push the TRIP button for less than 1 sec-
ond to select tripmeter, distance to
empty, average fuel consumption, aver-
age speed, driving time and ECO
ON/OFF mode* function as follows:Odometer The odometer indicates the total dis-
tance the vehicle has been driven.
You will also find the odometer useful to
determine when periodic maintenance
should be performed.Tripmeter This mode indicates the distance of indi-
vidual trips selected since the last trip-meter reset.
The meter's working range is from 0.0 to 999.9 miles (0.0 to 999.9 km).
Pressing the TRIP button for more than 1
second, when the tripmeter is being dis-
played, clears the tripmeter to zero (0.0).

Average speed
This mode calculates the average speed
of the vehicle since the last averagespeed reset.
Even if the vehicle is not in motion, the
average speed is calculated while the
engine is running.
Pressing the TRIP button for more than 1
second, when the average speed is
being displayed, clears the average
speed to zero (---).Driving time
This mode indicates the total time trav-
eled since the last driving time reset.
Even if the vehicle is not in motion, the
driving time is calculated while the
engine is running.
The meter’s working range is from 0:00~99:59.
Pressing the TRIP button for more than 1
second, when the driving time is being
displayed, clears the driving time to zero (0:00).ECO ON/OFF mode (if equipped)
You can turn the ECO indicator on/off on
the instrument cluster in this mode.
If you push the TRIP button more than 1
second in the ECO ON mode, ECO OFF
is displayed in the screen and the ECO
indicator turns off.
If you want to display the ECO indicator
again, press the TRIP button more than 1 second in the ECO OFF mode and then
ECO ON mode is displayed in the screen.
When you press the TRIP button less
than 1 second in the ECO mode, the
mode is changed to odometer.

Warnings and indicators
All warning lights are checked by turning
the ignition switch ON (do not start the
engine). Any light that does not illuminate
should be checked by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
After starting the engine, check to make
sure that all warning lights are off. If any are still on, this indicates a situation that
needs attention. When releasing the
parking brake, the brake system warning
light should go off. The fuel warning light
will stay on if the fuel level is low.
ECO indicator (if equipped)
The ECO indicator is a system that helps
you to drive economically.
It is displayed if you drive fuel efficiently
to help you improve fuel efficiency.
The ECO indicator (green) will turn on
when you are driving fuel efficiently in
the ECO ON mode.
If you don't want the indicator dis-
played, you can turn the ECO ON
mode to OFF mode by pressing the
TRIP button.
As per ECO ON/OFF Mode operation,
refer to the previous page.
The fuel-efficiency can be changed by the driver's driving habit and road con-dition.
The ECO indicator does not function in P (Park), N (Neutral), and R (Reverse).
Air bag warning light
This warning light will illuminate for
approximately 6 seconds each time you
turn the ignition switch to the ON posi- tion. This light also comes on when the
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is
not working properly. If the AIR BAG
warning light does not come on, or con-
tinuously remains on after operating for
about 6 seconds when you turned the
ignition switch to the ON position or start-
ed the engine, or if it comes on while
driving, have the SRS inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
ECO
WARNING
Don't keep watching the indicator
while driving. It will distract you while driving and cause an acci-
dent that results in severe personal
injury.

Anti-lock brake system(ABS) warning light
This light illuminates if the ignition switch
is turned ON and goes off in approxi-
mately 3 seconds if the system is operat-
ing normally.
If the ABS warning light remains on,
comes on while driving, or does not
come on when the ignition switch is
turned to the ON position, this indicates
that there may be a malfunction with the
ABS.
If this occurs, have your vehicle checked
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as
soon as possible. The normal braking
system will still be operational, but with-
out the assistance of the anti-lock brake system. Electronic brake
force distribution
(EBD) system
warning light
If two warning lights shown illuminate at
the same time while driving, your vehicle
may have a malfunction with ABS andEBD system.
In this case, your ABS and regular brake
system may not work normally. Have the
vehicle checked by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.
✽✽
NOTICE
If the ABS warning light or EBD warn-
ing light is on and stays on, the
speedometer or odometer/tripmeter
may not work. Also, the EPS warning
light may illuminate and the steering
effort may increase or decrease. In this
case, have your vehicle checked by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as
possible.
WARNING
If both ABS and Brake warning
lights are on and stay on, your vehi-
cle’s brake system will not work
normally. So you may experience
an unexpected and dangerous situ-
ation during sudden braking. In this
case, avoid high speed driving and
abrupt braking. Have your vehicle
checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer as soon as possible.
