Fuel economy
Average Fuel Economy (1)
• The average fuel economy is calcu-lated by the total driving distance
and fuel consumption since the last
average fuel economy reset.
• The average fuel economy can be reset both manually and automati-
cally.
Manual reset
To clear the average fuel economy
manually, press the [OK] button on
the steering wheel for more than 1
second when the average fuel econo-
my is displayed.
Automatic reset
To automatically reset the average
fuel economy after refuelling, select
the "Auto Reset" mode in the User
Settings menu on the LCD display.
- After Ignition: The average fueleconomy will reset automatically
whenever it has passed 4 hours
after turning OFF the engine.
- After Refuelling: The average fuel economy will reset automatically
when driving speed exceeds 1
km/h, after adding 6 litres (1.6 gal-
lons) of fuel or more.
Information
The average fuel economy may be
inaccurate, when the vehicle drives
shorter than 300 meters (0.19 miles)
after turning ON the Engine Start/Stop
button.
Instant Fuel Economy (2)
• This mode displays the instant fuel economy during the last few sec-
onds when the vehicle speed is
more than 6.2 mph (10 km/h).
Accumulated Info display
This display shows the accumulated
trip distance (1), the average fuel
economy (2), and the total driving
time (3).
The information is accumulated
starting from the last reset.
To manually reset the information,
press and hold the OK button when
viewing the Accumulated driving info.
The trip distance, the average fuel
economy, and total driving time will
reset simultaneously.

Exhaust System (DPF)Warning Light (for diesel engine,if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
• When there is a malfunction with
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) sys-
tem.
• When this warning light illumi- nates, it may turn off after driving
the vehicle:
- at more than 37 mph (60 km/h), or
- at more than 2nd gear with 1500~ 2000 engine rpm for a certain
time (for about 25 minutes).
If this warning light blinks in spite of
the procedure (at this time LCD
warning message will be displayed),
we recommend that you have the
DPF system checked by a HYUNDAI
authorised repairer.
If you continue to drive with the
DPF warning light blinking for a
long time, the DPF system can be
damaged and fuel consumption
can worsen.
Exhaust System (GPF) Warning Light (for petrol engine,if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
• When there is a malfunction with
the Petrol Particulate Filter (GPF)
system.
When this warning light illumi-
nates, it may turn off after driving
the vehicle:
- at more than 80 km/h (50 mph)for about 30 minutes (above 3rd
gear with 1500 ~ 4000 engine
rpm)
If this warning light blinks in spite of
the procedure (at this time LCD
warning message will be displayed),
we recommend that you have the
GPF system checked by a HYUNDAI
authorised repairer.
If you continue to drive with the
GPF warning light blinking for a
long time, the GPF system can be
damaged and fuel consumption
can worsen.
SCR warning light (for diesel engine,if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
• When the urea solution tank is
nearly empty.
If the urea solution tank is nearly
empty:
• Refill urea solution as soon as pos- sible.
For more details, refer to "Low
urea solution warning message"
in the chapter 7.

Driving your vehicle
The ISG system is to reduce the fuel
consumption by automatically shut-
ting down the engine, when the vehi-
cle is at a standstill (i.e. red stop light,
stop sign, and traffic jam).
The engine is automatically started
upon satisfying the starting condi-
tions.
The ISG system is always active,
when the engine is running.
Information
When the engine is automatically
started by the ISG system, some warn-
ing lights (i.e. ABS, ESC, ESC OFF,
EPS, and parking brake warning
light) may illuminate for a few sec-
onds due to the low battery voltage.
However, it does not indicate a mal-
function with the ISG system.
To activate the ISG system
Prerequisite for activation
The ISG system operates in the fol-
lowing situations.
- The driver's seatbelt is fastened.
- The driver's door and the bonnet are closed.
- The brake vacuum pressure is adequate.
- The battery is sufficiently charged.
- The outside temperature is between -10 °C and 35 °C (14 °F and 95 °F).
- The engine coolant temperature is not too low.
- The system is not in the diagnostic mode.
- The steering wheel is not steered excessively. (for automatic
transaxle vehicle)
- The vehicle is driven on a steep incline. (for automatic transaxle
vehicle)
Information
• The ISG system is not activated, when the prerequisites to activate
the ISG system are unsatisfied. In
this case, the ISG OFF button indi-
cator illuminates, and the auto stop
indicator ( ) illuminates in yellow
on the instrument cluster.
• When the above indicator remains illuminated on the instrument clus-
ter, we recommend that you have
the ISG system checked by a
HYUNDAI authorised repairer.

Diesel particulate filter (DPF) (if equipped)
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
system removes the soot in the
exhaust gas. Unlike a disposable air
filter, the DPF system automatically
burns (oxidizes) and removes the
accumulated soot according to the
driving condition. In order words, the
active burning by engine control sys-
tem and high exhaust gas tempera-
ture caused by normal/high diving
condition burns and removes the
accumulated soot.
However, if the vehicle continues to
be driven at repeated short distance
or driven at low speed for a long
time, the accumulated soot may not
be automatically removed because
of low exhaust gas temperature.
More than a certain amount of soot
deposited, the malfunction indicator
light ( ) illuminates.
When the malfunction indicator light
illuminates, it may turn-off after driv-
ing the vehicle at more than 60km/h
(37 mph) or at more than second
gear with 1500~2500 engine rpm for
a certain time (for about 25 minutes). If the malfunction indicator light
( ) continues to be blinked or the
warning massage “Check exhaust
system” illuminates in spite of the
procedure, visit a professional work-
shop and check the DPF system.
HYUNDAI
recommends to visit a
HYUNDAI authorised repairer/serv-
ice partner.
If you continue to drive with the mal-
function indicator light blinking for a
long time, the DPF system can be
damaged and fuel consumption can
be worsen and the engine durability
can be worsen by oil dilution.Diesel Fuel
(if equipped with DPF)
We recommend you to use only
the regulated diesel fuels, when
your vehicle is equipped with
the DPF system.
When you use other diesel
fuels, which is high in sulfurs
(above 50 ppm) or contains
unspecified additives, it may
damage the DPF system and
cause the white smoke emis-
sion.

Maintenance
Upon detecting a malfunctionDriving 50 km after detecting a malfunction
Urea system failure
(= no fuel injection)
Incorrect urea detected (= abnormal urea)
Abnormal urea-solution consumption
(= post treatment failure)
Malfunction with the SCR system (if equipped)
SCR system has malfunction due to disconnected electrical components, incorrect urea and so on.
"xxx km(mile)" represents the remaining travel distance allowed, so do not continue driving to the limit of the remain-
ing travel distance without fixing the source of the malfunction. Otherwise, the vehicle can't be restarted once the
engine is turned off by ignition key. In this case, we recommend that the system be inspected by a HYUNDAI autho-
rised repairer.

Once the inducement system
reached to final status and disabled
the vehicle restart, it will only be
deactivated in case the urea tank is
replenished or the malfunctions have
been rectified. If the vehicle can't be
restarted with "Refill Urea tank or
vehicle will not start " message, refill
more than 6 litres urea, wait for min-
utes and try vehicle starting again. If
vehicle starting is not possible
regardless of urea level, we recom-
mend that the system be inspected
by a HYUNDAI authorised repairer.
